Hi All One of the benefits of being a Google For Education Partner is the ability to provide Chrome Management licences to unlock the full potential of Chromebook deployments in Education. As some of you have already capitalised on, Google had a promo running from 11th Jan - 31st March to provide a free 1 day workshop to any new customer ordering 20+ CDM licences. This has now been extended for Q2 Delivered at your site, this truly is a great value add for any school wishing to learn more about the benefits Google Apps and Chromebooks can offer. More info on our site Free Google Workshop Offer Requirements to qualify: • Transformational Planning Workshop incentive is only available for new customers who purchase 20+ Chrome management or 20+ Google Play for Education licenses from a Google authorised education reseller. • Only purchases from schools, academies, colleges or universities that have not bought Chromebook management licences or Play for Education licences previously will be entitled to this free workshop incentive. • Chromebook management licence or Play for Education licence orders must be confirmed by Google between 11th January and 31st March 2016 to qualify. • The Transformational Planning Workshop for your school must be scheduled to take place within 3 months of the confirmation from Google of your eligible Chromebook management licence or Play for Education licence order and no later than the 30th June 2016. • The promotion is only open to educational institutes in the UK. PM us for more details, speak to your account manager or contact us via the website for more information and we can share the full offer document via drive.

Are there any MATs using G-Suite For Education? How do you do it? One G-Suite tenant with academies in their own OU? Trust & Individual Academy tenants? Currently in a school that is about to be sponsored. The Trust have nothing in place yet and will initially consist of 2 schools. Both currently have their own G-Suite tenants.

Hi All I wanted to put a quick shout on here about our upcoming 'Google and the Classroom' event taking place in Sheffield late November. Following the hugely successful (as well as enjoyable) event we held @ The Streetly Academy earlier this year we're taking the message Northwards. The format will be similar to the last, the focus being on spending a few hours in a laid back interactive fashion exploring more of the G Suite Edu (nearly typed GaFE) offering. We're incredibly proud that once again Andrew Caffrey, Assistant Headteacher at The Streetly Academy will be present to give further insight on his journey to becoming a LightHouse site. Also present will be James Leonard, Google for Education Dean Stokes, a leading expert on Google for Education. As well as kindly hosting the event Graeme Hathaway, Assistant Principal Learning Improvement and Innovation, The Sheffield College will also be there to inform attendees about the College's journey thus far with Haptic and Google. Our Team will be on hand also, we're also delighted that we can showcase Google Expeditions and let you all have a play around with the kit during the session. Places (sadly) will be limited to around 40 delegates, we're hoping to have more events planned shortly across the UK. It would be great to see you there. News post and registration form can be found here Joe

Even though our users are signed in to google drive and can also access all other apps, whenever they try log into drive it just comes stuck as a "YOU ARE NOT SIGNED IN" loop Can anyone suggest a fix?

Hi all Hot on the heels of Google's vibrant stand at BETT this year and our recent award of 'Google For Education Partner' https://edudirectory.withgoogle.com/en/profile/b7e1ae3d0a2d9ce6576423d8620556cc We're hosting an event at one of the Google 'Lighthouses', namely Streetly Academy. We're really fortunate to have them host us, their journey with Google is exemplary and we're looking forward to finding out more about it. The details are below, we have a shortlist of people that we're inviting directly. We wanted to ask any 'geekers if they wanted to attend also. Sadly places are limited, we can't offer everyone a space - however anyone that responds (via PM please) we will contact when we put on further shows across the UK this/next year. The format will be small and interactive, approx 30 delegates with an approach that is akin to a 'chalk and talk' session. We will have speakers, mainly teaching and technical staff from within Education that use Google Apps - the whole objective is to help develop understanding of the benefits of the applications. The event is taking place Thursday 14th April 2016 - 4pm- 7pm at the Streetly Academy, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands. Anyone interested in this (or future Google Events) please PM and we'll keep you in the loop! Ta Mark

Hi All Hopefully your Friday is relatively pain free (unlike some of us making radical changes to the website in a hurried fashion!) Anyhoo, Google have decided to rename their Apps For Education and Apps for Work offering as : G Suite / G Suite for Education. We initially thought of Snoop Dogg's favourite hotel, chuckled, then got over it. As we are fully fledged Google For Education/Work Partners we've clearly had our work cut out this morning. Here's a link to the news post, there's a link to Google's own blog there too. What are your thoughts on the new handle? Joe

Hi all We are having trouble with our SSO to Google Apps for Education (particularly YouTube) via ADFS. Used to work fine and nothing changed our end as far as I can tell. All we get now is 'an error occurred' (see below) on the browser page after being sent to our ADFS login page. We've followed the guide on this site (seems to be the definitive guide out there) https://icutsman.wordpress.com/2016/08/06/googleappsandadfs/ but to no avail. ADFS is working as Office365 uses it quite happily. Anyone else had any issues similar, could you suggest anything we could try? An error occurred An error occurred. Trying to use MIT's App Inventor which apparently requires a Google account to use, so have been discussing with SLT about signing up for GAFE who have instructed me to do so. We use Office 365 already and I'm getting a bit nervous. GAFE is asking about whether I have administrative access to our web domain and I'm concerned GAFE and Office 365 are going to conflict. I'm perfectly happy with people using username@ourdomain to log into GAFE, but I don't want Office 365's email provision to be affected. Anyone know what's going on here or been in a similar O365 and GAFE situation like me? Have started to read this: https://docs.google.com/document/d/16pGWXaoxC6CtVV1kZ0I9PgtSntZP80_2gWmaxKSLB18/view but feels like a lot of it is irrelevant. Thanks

Hi, We have a GAFE account for our school that was originally DirSync'd with AD but not really used that much. We changed our email format and wanted to update all the logins so I used GAM with a CSV to start renaming the accounts. However, Google didn't seem to like that and have blocked all of our admin accounts with no way to unlock them. I have tried phoning them but need a PIN number which we can't get without logging in. Does anyone know how to contact Google in this situation? Thanks David

I had the pleasure of being at Google HQ last week and discussing the buzz around Android apps coming to Chrome, very exciting stuff, did you know: The expected public release of Android for Chrome will be later this week and will be available first on Acer Chromebook R11/C738T, Asus Chromebook Flip (C100P) and Google Chromebook Pixel (2015). With more expected later in the year -https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/6401474 did you know: When you visit the Chrome web store, you'll be able to browse Android apps collection and find apps such as Evernote and Vine https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/6088175?hl=en-GB did you know: If your school has developed its own android app you can port it onto Chromebooks using the App Runtime for Chrome (ARC) https://developer.chrome.com/apps/getstarted_arc for more details I've actually started playing around with some of the apps on my own ASUS Flip and I have to say I am very impressed with it so far. Tell me about your experience below Darrell Raynard

One for the Chromebook experts (@CHR1S) I have been rolling out class sets of Chromebooks and everything is going well apart from one issue. The issue is that once the user has logged onto the Chromebook it takes approximately 2 minutes for App icons, pinned icons etc. to appear. As the devices are shared I have User Caching turned off within the admin panel. If I turn this on, the first time a user logs on it takes 2 minutes for everything to sync and then on subsequent logins icons appear in an instant. If this user then logs onto another device, they again have to wait 2 minutes etc. I have tried a device on an unfiltered connection, same issue so I know the filter isn't the cause. Does anyone else experience these delays? Thanks in advance.

Hello For anyone who hasn't yet seen this, Google have just released information about the latest updates to Google Classroom and some nice extra's to some of the other Core Apps within the GAfE universe. You can check out some of the information of these releases here: Enjoy Darrell Google Specialist Haptic-Networks
