Does anybody know of a free online alternative to OpenCart. The head of ICT asked us to look into App Inventor. Although we are working on it she has decided in the mean time she would like to use OpenCart. However looking at the OpenCart installation process looks like it may also have its own difficulties. Has anybody managed to get OpenCart working on a RM CC4 network or know of any alternatives.

Hello Has anyone had a similar problem and found a solution?! I work at a school running CC4 and have App inventor installed. All works well in on screen emulator and will connect to a mobile and display app. The only issue is images do not work on either the emulator or mobile. I have tried different file types and images but no luck - any ideas?

Hi guys, I'm having a few problems with MIT App Inventor and I wondered if anyone might be able to help. I've deployed an msi to a computer suite of 30 computers and problems keep cropping up. Some work, some don't. The main issues stem from the emulator. First error is: Companion Version Check The Companion you are using is out of date. This version of App Inventor should be used with Companion version 2.23ai2zx1 However this is the version I have already installed! The second problem is: Launch the aiStarter program on your computer and then try again. I've tried launching aiStarter before and during whilst using App Inventor and still receive the same error. Has anyone encountered something similar? Any help would be greatly appreciated! [EDIT] Whilst I'm still having an issue with problem 1, I have since solved the issue to problem 2. The reason that aiStarter isn't registering as open is because it (a) hasn't opened properly or (b) wasn't closed down correctly. I was initially closing down the command box by clicking the red 'X'. However you need to hit Ctrl-C to fully kill the application. Once reopened it works fine. [EDIT 2] I found a work around for problem 1 You need to obtain the latest emulator .apk (which for me currently is 2.22ai2zx1) - D/L Here 1) Copy and paste the .apk into the root of App Inventor which is typically C:\Program Files\AppInventor\commands-for-Appinventor. 2) Launch the command prompt and change directory to C:\Program Files\AppInventor\commands-for-Appinventor (or wherever it's installed). 3) Now in Google Chrome, log-in to App Inventor and run the emulator as normal, ensure the emulator is running during step 4. 4) In command prompt, with the 'commands-for-appinventor' folder selected, paste the following: adb -e install -r YourFile.apk 5) The emulator will upgrade using the .apk and will work right away.

Hello, I have created a CC4 package for App Inventor however when run as a student you cann open the blocks editor. The editor wants to download and run a .jnlp file. - I tried saving this file and running it independantly but it doesn't get the open project details. - I tried creating a file rule for the .jnlp file but I couldn't implement it as the file is saved in a different directory within internet temporary files each time. Has anyone managed to get this working on a CC4 (and maybe CC3) network and have any tips on how I can sort it at my school? Thank you.. Mark Handford Network Manager South Wilts Grammar School

This issue has been lingering around for a month, i have put multiple hours in trying to figure it out but I cannot for the life of me get to the bottom of it. Our IT department wants to start using app inventor, thats not a problem there are plenty of good writeups here about getting the appinventor emulator to run. I cannot get the actual site where I believe they do the coding to run on the student profiles. The address is http://ai2.appinventor.mit.edu/ and it will not load under student profiles. My first thought was that our external filtering was blocking it as I was able to access it fine. This is not the case as I have called them and double checked that it is indeed open on the student port (:8083). Then I considered our internal filtering, we use impero for web filtering amongst other things, I have uninstalled this and tried again with no luck. As far as I am aware we don't have any polices in place that would block the site or any elements on it. Has anybody else run into this issue? Thanks in advance, Will

Hi, Students have been doing an App inventor controlled assessment. It works fine as an administrator but when logged on as a student it works fine apart from the picture they have uploaded doesn't show, they need this to complete the task. I believe it is stored in the C: drive which is blocked by group policy. Is there away in GP to allow access to the C: drive but hide it so students can't mess with it. If so how do I go about doing this? Cheers Liam

Hi there, I've Googled the hell out of this topic but can't seem to find a solution (I'm fairly new to ICT so please bare with me). I need to install an .EXE setup to approximately 200 machines, it's for MIT App Inventor (installation .exe). I clutched at straws and tried to give it an .MSI wrapper but of course no luck. Is there a way I can deploy this software in an .EXE format without physically installing it on individual machines? Many thanks for your help.

Trying to use MIT's App Inventor which apparently requires a Google account to use, so have been discussing with SLT about signing up for GAFE who have instructed me to do so. We use Office 365 already and I'm getting a bit nervous. GAFE is asking about whether I have administrative access to our web domain and I'm concerned GAFE and Office 365 are going to conflict. I'm perfectly happy with people using username@ourdomain to log into GAFE, but I don't want Office 365's email provision to be affected. Anyone know what's going on here or been in a similar O365 and GAFE situation like me? Have started to read this: https://docs.google.com/document/d/16pGWXaoxC6CtVV1kZ0I9PgtSntZP80_2gWmaxKSLB18/view but feels like a lot of it is irrelevant. Thanks

Has anyone get a working MSI or package for cc4 that they can let me have. Every time i try and build package it fails or when it works it does not install on to WIndows 7 workstations. I have tried a couple of time to build the package and all seems okay but it will not assign out just errors. Or can anyone tell me another way to install software from Server 2008 R2 i would rather not go around an manual install to 100+ workstations. I know there are other issues to work around but i need to get a working package first Or does anyone know of any alternative software that can be used my IT co-ordinator is saying it can only be APP inventor by MIT as that is what he has read in his paperwork. I have looked at Mobione Studio as it does bot Andriod and Apple but open to othe suggestions.
