I've got a rather strange issue with Google Drive on only one Windows 7 64 bit workstation. For some reason Drive will no longer connect to the Internet and as such won't sync. The Drive tray icon is greyed-out and gives me no options to edit any settings or preferences. All other workstations that run Google Drive are absolutely fine which eliminates any network firewall related issues that could be blocking the connection. Our Internet connection is working without issues. We do run behind a proxy provided by the LA. Updates are applied to Windows 7 but are always tested before deployment in the event it causes any issues such as this. So far I have: - Reinstalled Google Drive - Tried temporarily disabling Eset Endpoint Anti-Virus - Added drive to Windows Firewall - Temporarily disabled Windows Firewall - Tried stopping and then restarting Drive by running it manually from C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Drive\googledrivesync.exe - Rebooted the machine a number of times - Checked the drive logs which give an output as follows: 2015-10-13 10:13:55,614 +0100 INFO pid=4484 4532:LaunchThreads common.sync_app:1668 Network initializing account: ConnectionFailure: 'Error [Errno 10061] No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it', recovery plan: RecoveryPlan.UNKNOWN, recovery targets: set([]) I am currently at a loss with this so any help would be great! Thanks!

I currently have chrome being installed via a GPO and I'm using the chrome administrative template to configure chrome and force the installation of some extensions. I would also like to force install the Chrome App Launcher but I am unable to find a way to do this. Here is a link to the Chrome Apps Launcher. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/launcher

I'm trying to set up Outlook 2010 with Google Apps IMAP servers using .prf files. I'm intending to put them in HKCU\RunOnce. While testing, when I launch Outlook with the /importprf switch, it seems to configure the account (i.e. no prompt) but then it says "Send/Receive Error" in the status-bar. As there is no way to include a password in the .prf configuration file, it should be prompting me at this point. Hitting send and receive again or starting Outlook normally also don't prompt for the password. When I go into Account Settings/Change Account, the password box is blank and the Remember Password check-box is ticked. If I enter the password here, everything works fine. In order to try force it to prompt for the password, in Group Policy, I enabled "Disable 'Remember Password' for Internet e-mail accounts" and "Prevent saving credentials for Basic Authentication policy". This resulted in the password box and Remember Password check-box being greyed out, but when setting up the profile from scratch there was still no change. The .prf file was created using the Office Customization Tool so it should be ok! I also tested this on two different Outlook 2010 installations, one retail and one Professional. I've uploaded the .prf file for inspection. I need a setting somewhere to force a password prompt! Any ideas appreciated.

For those that use Google apps, it seems we are being given a new admin panel. New customers get it now, old customers will be getting it shortly. New Admin Panel - What's New in Google Apps From what I've seen so far, it's mainly cosmetic changes but they claim improvements in ease of use and customisation.

We have set up a Google Apps account for our school, and are planning on making use of the email app. Historically, all external email is blocked on our firewall and by the Local Authority. However we will need to loosen these restrictions to allow https://mail.google.com However we would like the ability to still block non-school related Gmail accounts. Is this possible? You can specify a custom URL for users to access the Google Apps email - e.g. https://mail.domain.com However when users browse to this URL, they are redirected to the URL https://mail.google.com/mail/?shva=1#inbox which doesn't include any references to the domain. I have tried logging in with a standard gmail account, and it also redirects you to the same URL. Any advice would be appreciated!

So i'm doing some research into the whole live@edu vs google apps to see what the benefits of both are. Are you a user of either of these? If so what do you like and dislike about them? Cheres Alex

Can I lock down the ability to login with personal emails and only allow Google Education logins? I'm guessing its a GPO I've overlooked. Thanks PS- excuse the education spelling mistake

Is anybody on here using Google apps for education at the moment, I have been looking into it and was looking for feedback from schools that are using it at the moment. And is it really FREE? surely there's a charge somewhere? I have just seen the new app called Classroom which looks cool. Could you let me know of the pros and cons?

I am looking for a reasonably priced SAML/SSO solution to link our AD accounts to hosted services: * Google Apps * PowerSchool (student info system) * ZenDesk (helpdesk ticketing) * ADP (payroll) Does anyone have a happy or sad story about PingIdentity, SSO Easy, Okta, Shibboleth, etc? thanks, Luke Jaeger | Technology Coordinator Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School PVPA Charter Public School - About PVPA

We have a Google Apps domain and a Active Directory domain Been asked to look into making them link together in some way so a person can login to Active Directory, then when they visit Google they're automatically signed in. Any ideas or has anyone done this? The ability to keep passwords in sync too would be incredibly useful!

Hello, I have created a CC4 package for App Inventor however when run as a student you cann open the blocks editor. The editor wants to download and run a .jnlp file. - I tried saving this file and running it independantly but it doesn't get the open project details. - I tried creating a file rule for the .jnlp file but I couldn't implement it as the file is saved in a different directory within internet temporary files each time. Has anyone managed to get this working on a CC4 (and maybe CC3) network and have any tips on how I can sort it at my school? Thank you.. Mark Handford Network Manager South Wilts Grammar School

As per the title really, I'm looking into Google Apps for Education for a school I support and wondered if there were any primaries that have implemented it, specifically in the South West?

I was wondering if anyone has successfully deployed Google Apps at their school, using the Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook? I am particularly interested in the deployment of the sync tool, and the subsequent GPO settings - most importantly the creation of an Outlook Profile File (prf). Is this something we should do ourselves, or do Google provide a template prf? Any experience/advice would be much appreciated, e.g. performance issues, SSO integration, recommended registry settings, PST file location and size issues, etc. I am aware of the following resource: Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook® - Google Apps Help I have contacted Google Enterprise Support and asked about setting up prf profiles for users, and their response was as follows: “…there is no option to automatically configure google apps so that users will be prompted to user the Google apps sync tool the first time they login. So as long as users have their username/password, they should be able to download, install and setup the google apps sync tool…” Any experience/advice from those using Google Apps would be appreciated – including those using IMAP or the web interface only. Has anyone managed to successfully set up internet filters that permit users to log in to their school Google Apps gmail account, but block them from logging in to their personal account? If not, has this caused a problem at the school? Many thanks!

Hello, I hope I have posted this in the correct forum. Our school is using Google Apps Education Edition and we want to monitor the student accounts for inappropriate content etc.? Anyone out there using Google Apps? How do you monitor the student accounts? Thanks, techman

Hi, We have a teacher who has been sold on the whole Google Apps for Education and has been speaking to the headteacher saying this is free and that is free, we can save massive amounts with regards to our ICT spending. Obviously the head teacher is very interested and has asked us to put a pro's & con's list together to see if we should move towards this scenario. There are lots of threads already and I have been through most of them, however I want to hear people's experiences of Google Apps for Education, how it is implemented in the school and how easy it is to setup, for instance do you have Single Sign On initialised, do you link the My Documents & Email systems on the network? Would you rather be using the Live@Edu system? Thanks, I look forward to reading your replies. Nick

Apologies for the title. We're using Exchange for our email but using Google Apps accounts for Google Drive. We have one domain name for our Exchange system (school.county.sch.uk) and one for our Google Apps accounts (school.com). We're migrating our Exchange to Gmail over the summer and want our users to continue to login with their current Google Apps address, which is far easier to remember, but when they send from GMail we want the senders address to show as their official school email address (school.county.sch.uk). Google has said that this has to be done on a per user basis and cannot be done domain wide. They did say there were tools in the Google Apps Marketplace that might be able to do this although would not provide specific details as they cannot provide support for them. They also said this could be coded using the Google Apps API, but I'd need to pay someone to do that. Has anyone has this issue or found a way around it? Does anyone know an app from the Marketplace that will do what I'm looking for? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I find this hugely funny, they can't even keep their own data private until it is supposed to be released and then they ask everyone to trust the with their data Epic Google shares suspended after blunder | thetelegraph.com.au

Hello, We have just moved all our users over to Office 365 which is working out well, but we also want to be able to give users Google logins for things like Classroom. I have GADS working and all our users are provisioned but I can't seem to get GAPS working to get the passwords sync'd, plus the limitation of having to change passwords to sync is a big pain. I tried a few months ago to get SSO working between Azure AD and Gapps using this tutorial: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn308591.aspx and it worked great, but it seemed to be completely random who got assigned to the application and who didn't, and obviously the ones who didn't weren't able to access it. I know that group application assignment is part of AAD premium, but surely we must be able to a bulk assign to all users or something, with 3000 odd users in our tenancy it is not feasible to manually assign them. Has anyone got this working? Thanks David
