I'm trying to set up Outlook 2010 with Google Apps IMAP servers using .prf files. I'm intending to put them in HKCU\RunOnce. While testing, when I launch Outlook with the /importprf switch, it seems to configure the account (i.e. no prompt) but then it says "Send/Receive Error" in the status-bar. As there is no way to include a password in the .prf configuration file, it should be prompting me at this point. Hitting send and receive again or starting Outlook normally also don't prompt for the password. When I go into Account Settings/Change Account, the password box is blank and the Remember Password check-box is ticked. If I enter the password here, everything works fine. In order to try force it to prompt for the password, in Group Policy, I enabled "Disable 'Remember Password' for Internet e-mail accounts" and "Prevent saving credentials for Basic Authentication policy". This resulted in the password box and Remember Password check-box being greyed out, but when setting up the profile from scratch there was still no change. The .prf file was created using the Office Customization Tool so it should be ok! I also tested this on two different Outlook 2010 installations, one retail and one Professional. I've uploaded the .prf file for inspection. I need a setting somewhere to force a password prompt! Any ideas appreciated.

Hi Forum Our company has upgraded to MS Exchange server 2010 Sp1 but now my Imap PHP scripe does not connect or does not receive a reply from Exch 2010. We use to have Exch 2007 Sp2 and it worked fine. $username="domain/user"; $password="password"; $mbox=imap_open("{172.16.0.73:143/imap}Inbox",$username,$password); I have also tried $mbox=imap_open("{172.16.0.73:143/imap/novalidate-cert}Inbox",$username,$password); Is there something different in the way one should connect to Exch 2010 compared to Exch 2007?. Our Exch administrators sais that Imap is enabled. The response I get from imap_last_error() is "[CLOSED] IMAP connection broken (server response)" Can anyone help? Regards,

Hi Everyone, I really am stumped at this point. Anyone who could offer any advice, please please do!! As of 3am on Friday, users can no longer receive email constantly on their portable devices. Users were able to add their office 365 account to their portable devices before this time using Active Sync, but now users who have the accounts set up prior to this time receive an error - cannot connect to server, even though on their phone settings the device shows as ok, but with a successful sync time of Friday. If you start logging, the retrieval shows an error. Users who try and add their account since this time simply are unable to verify account information. The IMAP Server setting is correct - the same as showing in their mailbox settings, and for users who couldn't autodiscover previously, this setting worked - until now. On testexchangeconnectivity.com, my admin account passes the activesync fine, with no errors. A standard user now receives an error: The IMAP service is being tested. Hello. I'm currently trying to set up classroom email accounts for an infant school for an upcoming season of lessons on communication. Basically the need is for them to be able to email other classes. I've set up an email account through FastMail for each class with the intention of setting each class up with a Outlook Express / WinLiveMail front end to the account through an IMAP connection. Of course, silly me forgets when formulating this masterplan that SWGfL make everything as difficult as possible and i'm getting no response when i try to connect to the IMAP server. I've checked that the domain itself that the mail client tries to connect to isn't blocked (which it isn't) and the proxy is correct in the client, but i can't get the IMAP service to work on standard or SSL connection. Is it actually possible to get IMAP working across SWGfL? Or are there any free providers who are specifically unblocked? Any advice welcome.

Ok this is a real puzzler! I have a MacBook late 2008 Silver model and my boss has a MacBook Air, i'm using IMAP to contact are email server (exchange 2003) in the school using are external host name for the server as in email.schoolname.sch.uk as this will work from home internally and externally. I can set his email up no problems on my mac using this external name and his username and network password to authenticate and can then subscribe to all the folder etc. however on his mac and other macs.... ive tested this, if refuses to work! It wont find the server (only using the internal server name as in servername.domainname this however means that when he leaves the site he cant access his email unless he setups a separate account for external using email.schoolname.sch.uk as mentioned above)! Hope this makes sense so far! Now i've checked all the network and security settings on my mac against his and they match to the word other than the IP address obviously, so what the heck have I done to my mac that allows me to view all the email accounts internally and externally using the external name?? I was thinking it was to do with DNS and resolving the external name internally, is this the Aliases or CNAME (not to sure on correct terms been doing some research) however this wouldn't explain why my mac works and his doesn't for his email and all other??! Please help me!! Thanks Steve

Starting from the beginning, i have taken over my friends domain, the previous owner transferred this to me without issue. My friend had 4 email accounts on his laptop, with 4 different mailboxes, which had this domain. Due to the email host not getting transferred over I created one for this domain which worked without issue and i created the same for email addresses. I then made a huge mistake and instead of creating new accounts on the laptop for the new emails I just change the imap settings, after I did this i realised it has wiped all the old emails. Is there anyway of getting these old emails back? I do also have the old map settings including account details if needed.

We're trying to allow students to be able to use outlook to access their LEA provided webmail. We have managed to get it working by using a direct connection to the LEA provided broadband but when we try going through smoothwall we receive "The connection to the server has failed." How can we make smoothwall allow the imap connection?

Hi everyone, I want to add frog email services on mobile phones and laptops. Internally when setting up outlook, both server names are just //frogserver Externally I am entering domainname.co.uk for IMAP and SMTP. I can recieve emails but can not reply? What am I doing wrong?? Thank you

Happy New Year Everyone!! Does anyone know a way to share a calendar if using IMAP protocol in Outlook 2007? That's all! Thanks, Laura

Hey I'm setting up a new smoothwall UTM and for the life of me I can't work out why I can't get outlook to connect to IMap.gmail.com I just get the error "The connection to the server failed". I'm assuming it something obvious but I can't seem to put my finger on it. Any help would be appreciated
