  1. Is the option to Sign Out still on the right-click context menu on the Start button?
  2. Does it have to use the app, or is the signing in/out accessible with a web browser? If so, you only need to run a browser on the device, and creating a front-end becomes much easier!
  3. Step 1 for better finances - only have one wife.
  4. RAID5 on HDDs will give you thoroughly mediocre write performance. I wouldn’t touch it. 1, 10, 50, 60 - depends what your SAN can do.
  5. No, I don't think so.
  6. Tried the internal USB port on the motherboard? They're designed to boot from this.
  7. Able to burn it to DVD? Tried using Rufus to create the USB?
  8. Can you find a folder in your sysvol with that name? You can open the files inside and it’ll tell you the name of the GPO that links to it.
  9. He’s perving on Junedad, waiting for her to visit.
  10. Glad it’s going well! Schools are at least responding to the need to chuck out that old kit. How’d that golf game you had with Bill Gates and Sataya Nadella go? [emoji6]
  11. Updated a suite of Macs. Now archiving from our file servers (after deciding that no, now is not that time to shift them to Sharepoint). Previously in the week - completely removed an ivy that had just reached the roof, and dug out its roots. It was attractive, but would start causing major issues pretty shortly!
  12. Moving school PCs to Linux goes back to threads in the early days of this forum. It never gained much traction then, and it won’t now - it has its place in universities etc, in some labs, but it’s almost like a pet project rather than a really sensible approach - managing the machines may be a nightmare. However, ChromeOS can certainly work, if that’s what you’re thinking.
  13. You can do apps separately in MDT, they don’t need to be in the TS. Is that the same for SCCM? I only have the OS, drivers and necessary scripts in the TS.
  14. Tried disabling the step that installs Z-Zip? You can always do that with GP or script afterwards.
  15. “When the techs give you touchscreens, don’t use them - make the techs take them back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn touchscreen, what am I supposed to do with this? Demand to see their line manager.”
  16. Indeed, but the original post referred to login issues which may have been a different issue.
  17. I’ve just ordered a suite of them, so good to know it works on Sonoma.
  18. I export it from the Windows certificate MMC as a .crt.
  19. Download the file Go to 'Settings' on your phone Choose 'Connections', then 'Wi-Fi', then the three dots and 'Advanced' Click on 'Install network certificates' Select the menu icon in the top right then 'Internal Storage' Choose the certificate file from the folder you saved it to (Downloads usually). Click Done and call it School_CA Connect to the network 'yourBYODSSID' When asked for username ('Identity') enter username@domain When asked for a password enter your password (the same one you use for the computers) Click on CA certificate and chose School_CA Type 'yourFQDN' in the Domain box Click Connect It may be slow to connect - be patient!
  20. I’ll try to remember to put it all here. It works well, tested on lots of devices. Took me a while too, I had to sit and work it out over a day. PM me to remind me, but I’ll put the instructions in this thread.
  21. I host the CA cert on a web page that the students can access. It can then be downloaded on an Android phone, and can be installed and trusted at that point. There’s a couple of other faffy steps needed for it to all work (the particular settings in the wifi connection), that I can’t remember but I have them documented at work.
  22. With metal platters, I lever the top up, rip them out then batter them. Laptop drives - bosh, crumble, done. SSDs - lever up the top, smash the chips. With the quantity of PCs we have to go now - pay someone else to do it. I still destroy server disks though.
  23. You’ll want a toughened glass one like the Newlines suggested - I can imagine a regular TV lasting a week in there (“don’t kick footballs in the changing room!” *smash*)
  24. It's not specifically required. It's a good idea going forward. With Windows 11, we'll have all devices on TPM 2.0+ so we will then enforce it on everything where it's currently just on staff laptops.
  25. Still using my Auzentech HDA XPlosion discrete card. Back in the day, it was the business - and could do Dolby Digital Live and DTS Connect. Basically, it could process and encode surround sound signals over digital interfaces, independent of the game being played. That was before virtual surround sound and everyone using headphones so it sounds great with surround speakers. It's another elic in my ancient main gaming PC but I feel like I'm going to freeze that machine and keep it for retro gaming - it's carefully set up with things like nGlide.
