Is it a Smoothwall block page or a Windows one? Both can block RTF files.

I thought that you could still connect to the inbuilt DB using SQL Management Studio - so you could push/pull the DB from there.
-
Very odd. Can you give me your version number? Plus, can you have a look in the log.xml in configfiles and see if you see any issues?
-
Indeed - why are you trying to install a different DB engine?

IT Digital Tech, WJEC. It worked on some/most - we had 40+ students though so larger sample size. 15 or so failed.

Today's delight with SA (via WJEC). Not confirmed this with any other schools yet. Certain keycodes not working, and clients showing an offline error underneath the keycode box. Other identical clients working. All clients updated. All clients showing as Ready in the control panel invigilation screen. Looking in the logs, the client is trying to access https://wjecdhassessment.surpass.comassessmentservice.asmx/ and https://wjecdhassessment.surpass.comconnectionTest.html. If these look like malformed URLs, they are - they're missing a forward slash after .com. Our Smoothwall logged these too, so it's not just a logging error - the clients tried to go to these addresses. Of course, I got the blame (by the board) for a firewall or filtering issue affecting many of our students in an exam. I tested the software and fired it up beforehand - it got to the login screen, which was as far as I could go. Pretty sure there's a bug, but whether that gets acknowledged as the cause of all that stress, or whether I continue to get blamed, is another matter. Makes the school look bad either way.

We do it via our parents website - the info is extracted from SIMS and imported into that database periodically. Sadly it’s by CSV as what comes from the MIS is a bit of a beast and needs lots of cleaning up first. Parents then check this and confirm, changing any details that are now incorrect or missing. It’s admin heavy, as we then have to make those changes in the MIS and then do a new data import. We can at least acknowledge that the changes have been actioned before we have to re-import. Everything is encrypted in storage of course, and the changes are cleared out once actioned.

I got my MDT to support Windows 11 and build a Lenovo E16 yesterday (so fairly up-to-date kit). I just put Windows 11 Edu into a copied task sequence, updated the WinPE drivers and updated the WDS boot image. It seems to work absolutely fine still. Not had to rebuild mine in the few years I've had it - what's changing when it breaks? Windows Update doesn't seem to kill it. Worth doing snapshots or having decent backups - ours doesn't have them as it's a fairly dumb physical server and takes up too much storage, but not a massive deal.

I’ve hugely hardened our remote access using AAP.

Surpass Secure Client - .Net Framework Error

Can you bypass the update program and run the app itself? -

I put it in Program Files. Windows likes it when programs are there (or sometimes in the user's own profile, like Teams). Can you do a test with it in Program Files (x86) instead? -

What folder have you installed SA to? I think I had to poke it into Program Files as it wants to be in the profiles - is that right? -
Has it got a static IP set, and has it changed or been deleted, or lost its subnet mask/gateway? Would normally affect the other services, but I have seen this happen before.

You’ll have to do a DPIA anyway, so justifying that change of how much data they hoover up will take some doing. Hit the Deny button on the Wonde home-screen. Do it.

I used a Surface 3 as our visitor signing-in device, until the battery went spicy. Now using an old Surface Pro 2. That could run Windows 10 LTSC to give it plenty of life, but it’s just a web interface so any OS will do. Another one we have is a tablet showing our room booking system outside the meeting room.

My NCSC Dashboard is now all green (other than DMARC Insights). This makes me happy. The instructions given by @Michael are much appreciated.

Recovery doesn’t sound like fun for it. Are you on a waiting list for an op or are they hoping it heals?

That is a tricky weight difference to progress through. You’d have to keep upping the reps on the 12s until you can jump the gap, or only do the 15s on low rep work. Alongside your favourite exercises, worth trying some variations: Super star jumps (squat into star jump) Every burpee variation possible of course (I quite like a hand-release burpee!) Get-ups (sit, roll back so feet go over your head, then roll back onto your feet and jump) Devil’s Press (if you’re a masochist, but a great movement)

Simply because Windows 8.1/7/XP will function perfectly well (once activated...) without an internet connection, but ChromeOS won't. It's an interesting debate. I see both sides, and as we run some embarrassingly old iPads it's relevant to us - though they will keep working. Our Chromebooks have years left yet.

Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/User Profiles/Delete user profiles older than a specified number of days on system restart. Be careful using this. If you apply it where users may be storing files in their profile (e.g. local Documents folder) it will wipe them. It will also clear local profiles. It works well on shared PCs.
-
You can't delete profiles that way - you need to pull them from the registry too (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList). The group policy setting which deletes profiles older than x days does work, and is how I manage this.
-
Yes, it can be done in the registry. I found it long ago but not changed the settings for a while and I don’t have it to hand.

No. The DC role upgrades fine. I think that advice goes back to Server 2003-2008 days. If you've tagged loads of additional services onto the DC you may get issues, but I never have.
-
Do you need to build them all fresh? You can move them in Hyper-V from old host to new then in-place upgrade. It's not new and fresh, but it is a practical solution and takes quite a bit less time!

It’s dead. Expensive professional data recovery or you’ll need to rely on backups/doing without that data.
