AC2 and newer iOS on old mac mini
3s-gtech replied to Planehazza's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
My old Mac Mini from 2010 was still updating them with AC2 up to iOS 15, before I managed to get a replacement Mac for the job. It seemed to have a very long working lifespan. I didn't upgrade because AC2 stopped working, but because it was running OSX 10.11 which has been unsupported for years. -

It is a soldered one, as you'd need to solder the existing wiring connector onto the new cell.
-
Looks like it's next to the Northbridge/chipset and RAM slots. May not have a service cover, in which case you'll need to open it up.

6Gb/s is the SATA maximum speed for it, but with an NVMe drive that will absolutely blow that away. That’s also a 5400rpm drive - these were considered unbearably slow for desktop use 15 years ago (obviously there are other performance factors). Not going to be cheap, and certainly not like-for-like, but 1TB NVMe drives will be affordable enough and will transform it. Then use the HDDs in a NAS or to weigh down the body of the next person who shuts their laptop with a pen on the keyboard.

Mine worked last week. I used the 2021 XML but I checked the parameters online to make sure I got their syntax right.

The loss of Publisher is going to make some staff very cross. I've got a few files I work on once a year in Publisher, I'll have to keep it in mind. I'm no fan of InDesign for occasional work!

Do you need drivers? Do they just work as a camera in Windows?

I should add, that along with LDAP internally ours uses OAuth2 for authentication so goes in our M365 for that. Makes it all a hell of a lot more secure. You want not just your code to be commented heavily, but write a technical doc for it too. Mine is my bible, because I never remember the yearly tasks. Try to avoid any manual DB tasks. I've spent the last five years automating data pulls from SIMS; where it used to be an Excel spreadsheet and importing with HeidiSQL there's far more XML parsing overnight now. Create a secure management web back end for select users. Look at using an identifier for the students, rather than their name, in a separate table. This can be UPN (but this is supposed to be kept confidential). We use their login, which means it has to be in SIMS (UDF). You can then look this value up, but any incidents are just logged against their unique identifier. I spend most of my time developing and bug chasing our system, but it is tens of thousands of lines of code so starts to justify the time commitment as it saves us a fortune in third party software.

We do lots of similar things, as we use SIMS and have our own MIS extension package built around it (which as been in development for years!) I would use XML for student data export/import. It is so much easier to handle with PHP. SIMS sometimes shifts the format between CommandReporter and manual reports, but that's easy enough to check. PHP Mailer should be able to handle the email side, if you can use SMTP. I recommend that you put the config for that in one central file outside of the web root. @mavhc touches on some great points - you will need to do a DPIA for this.

Try removing the PARAMS flag and the space before the output file path.
-
All my reports output to a local disk rather than the mapped one - can you try that? That can be caused by the S: drive not being accessible to the running user.

You need to enable SMTP globally first. It's something I'm working on at the moment.
-
Are you trying to email using Exchange Online? Have you enabled SMTP on your chosen mailbox?

Cam lock. Ebay. If you measure carefully, you'll be able to get one exactly the same size (I have also replaced one on a trolley) but make sure the cam is long enough to fit the arms or you'll be bodging.

I’ve used Feitian C200 tokens. Not cheap when you have a lot to buy, but they work.

You most likely have contamination in the washer system. Absolute best way is to take the tank out and clean it, but otherwise - flush it through with clean water by taking the pipe off the feed to the washer jets and running it through. Then ensure you keep plenty of fluid in there which can help to inhibit algae growth.

I don't have many AMD powered machines on the network, but many of our Azure joined sixth form laptops are Ryzen 3/4/5th gen and they're fine. No compatibility issues.
-
The 'standard' spec we get now is: 22" monitor (1920x1080) Core i5 / Ryzen 5 16GB RAM 512GB SSD I certainly wouldn't spec lower if I can help it. Some of our newish machines have i3 with 8GB and they're a bit stingy - I'll have to buy RAM before they finish their lifecycle.

Running SIMS on a server with a single SATA HDD is a recipe for frustration and failure. I know you need to get this up and running ASAP, but reliability and performance will be seriously compromised. You could do with getting a VM host installed on a properly set up box, RAID and all. The instance can then be shoved onto that, and it’ll trundle along happily.

It's rare nowadays, but it's possible you need the driver the the RAID on a USB stick so you can point the installer at that. Server 2016, 2019 and 2022. https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=w7x3r&oscode=wst14&productcode=poweredge-t640 https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=p74h3&oscode=ws19l&productcode=poweredge-t640 https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=85r54&oscode=ws22l&productcode=poweredge-t640
