  1. We bought an Epson projector with a short throw lenses and used to put up a 4m x 3m screen to project from behind...daily. So we bough a long throw lens and had the projector mounted on the wall (caged) at the entrance of the sports hall, projecting onto the wall opposite that was painted white. There was a wall port high up on on the other side, reachable with a small platform, for the laptop HDMI cable to go in. Reduced my time to, getting out the small platform, plugging in the HDMI and going for a brew. If they needed sound we had a portable speaker. KPMS did the mounting and running the cables along the ceiling.
  2. Many thanks to everyone, it's appreciated. Nice to learn that everyone has their own ways to do things. Cheers h
  3. Hi Guys, not long now.....1 more week 'til the holidays start. Just a daft question, we update our servers monthly and log it on a spreadsheet that it was done. Do you document what updates were applied? Do you document? Or do you update and hope that the server comes back up after an update and if it doesn't safe mode/uninstall the last updates? Cheers Harry
  4. Thanks guys, I've only been here a year and finding out all sorts of many differing answers. I'll see how FreeCAD goes. Cheers harry
  5. Hi Everyone, this is a rant and a request for advice. I get a ticket from DT saying they want to use the Baileigh plasma cutter, that has not been used since Covid. Ok, we don't have the software though, called BobCad Cam. IT must have it. ME: Cannot locate it anywhere on the network. Who installed it, what details do we have? DT: Dunno, maybe these guys. Names a company. ME:Calls these guys who don't have the software anymore, pass me onto another company, who have for £500. I tell DT and there's a sucking of teeth and don't want to pay. Fair do's 1 week later DT: Oh, look what we've found...the CD's. ME: Installs the software and opens it.....it requires a dongle to open the software. 'Where's the dongle? DT: Dunno, it ight be in the machine. ME: Nope, are you sure you don't know where it is? DT: Erm, I think a member of IT came down and took it. ME: Who and why, the cutter won't work without it and I'm sure they would know that. DT: Not sure. You can find it. To make things even better, the company Ucannest send you to Ali-Express to purchase it. I'm thinking of taking the drivers from the CD and using FreeCAD. What do you think? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Cheers Harry Thank you for listening, I'm getting battered going back and forth with the blasé lack of information
  6. Hi Guys, does anyone know the name of the lock with perpendicular bars on a laptop trolley? See photo. Or even where I can buy one.... Cheers, Harry
  7. Apparently we do, who knew? As above, simple guest accounts. It seems a chew on for a week. Thank you.
  8. Hi Mavhc. No they're not but I have created a guest account with just internet access and then delete them after transition week. Thank you.
  9. Hi Guys, we are a secondary school and the transition week for the primary schools is soon. How\what does everyone do for Transition user accounts, the pupils will need internet access. Do I create a new OU with transition accounts and a GPO locking it down to internet only, or full pupil access- email? Cheers, Harry
  10. Hi Guys, can anyone help me find a flight case for an Optoma ZU500USTe projector? We've just got 3 and they will be moving and stored on a daily. Many thanks to all Dave
  11. Hello, does anyone know if there is anyone in the North East who repairs motorized projector screens. My missus' school has a main hall one that goes KLUNK, when they try to drop it down for assembly. I do have a feeling that it is either the switch or a cog in the motor. Many thanks Dave
  12. I've registered too. Like Jezi55, we're moving to Intune in 2024. Well, only if I don't have a nervous breakdown migrating 10 schools into one MS Tenancy....
  13. @Norphy "I think I'm missing something here. What did you see? Almost sounds like Star Trek Beyond " Guardians of the Galaxy 3Sorry, thought i was replying to LeMarchand and the film Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Clearly Reply is not working as I think it should 'cos I've just done it again. It's been a long week.
  14. I saw this last night... I don't think it was a patch on the first one. There was not as many laughs as the first two and it was very deep, as you would expect from looking into a troubled past. I don't think the choice is music was good, apart from The Beastie Boys. Too much shouting from everybody as well. That said, everyone has their own opinion of films and everything is subjective.
  15. Thanks everyone! I will try when I get a moment. Looking further into it, I ran a PowerShell script to get the files permissions and every file has that SID attached with the permission Full control and a second entryof that SID, permission of 268435456. Apparently that is a generic_all permission. Curious and curiouser, well weird.
