  1. No, basically. What are the dependencies it’s missing?
  2. BL had some interesting ideas with seatbelts in the 1970s and 1980s. We have a Rover P5B, 1970 car. This has three-point seatbelts front and rear, from new. The P5B's replacement, the SD1, had optional rear seatbelts, still into the mid 1980s. For when the kids are expendable. We were very late adopting rear belts as law in this country, and there was a lot of resistance (which some of you have mentioned, still exists in adults!) If one of my passengers won't put their belt on, I don't move the car.
  3. It was brutal. Needs a reshow on media that young and old watch.
  4. I like the look of those. I need occasional network to a sports field 150-200m away from the school, and a pair of those wouldn’t break the bank.
  5. Quite a few factors involved, but ai tend to just hear “it’s uncomfortable”. I guarantee that’s it’s more comfortable than eating windscreen or being ejected out of a side window while the car is rolling. The seatbelt is the ‘second’ safety device in the car (behind the controls so that you don’t crash in the first place). To not use it renders everything else either ineffective or dangerous (e.g. airbags). IME the people that don’t wear them tend to be a bit thick (can I say that?)
  6. We use a system of completely generic noun and incremental number, each year group has that word as the suffix. They learn them quickly, but the logon contains no part of their name, age etc. So: mustard123 for example. (hmmm, could work through the condiments as the next lot…) Incidentally, it’s the same system that we used when I started as a pupil multiple decades back! Never seen a reason to change it as it works really well.
  7. From an M9, so what, 16-17 years old? SATA at least, and they were good drives. Worth a pop.
  8. Possibly(!) by changing the control board on the HDD for an identical one without the lock set. That's how it used to be done. If you happen to have another identical drive you bought at the same time this has a decent chance of working, and they're often attached with bi-hex (torx) screws and a contact pickup.
  9. It just ignores and carries on.
  10. Yes, we do. It’s worth looking at every service, and assess based on what data you share. For instance, just usernames is a bit different to disability and religion data! Also bear in mind the services which plug into M365 for auth…
  11. From what I’ve seen, recent episodes have kept the clever core of what makes Futurama great, and I’m really pleased they’re still making it. Even when it’s not at its best, it’s still a cut above.
  12. Force local home directory checked in Directory Utility?
  13. My first thought would be to nuke the Full Control permission, which it looks like you have throughout those shares for those users. Unless you have very specific requirements, this should not be granted to your users, as it allows them to alter the ACLs. See where I'm going with this...?
  14. Local profiles is the default now I think. Roaming causes too many issues, mandatory the same.
  15. GhettoVCB? That’s what I used for years with ESXi, backing up to a NFS NAS share.
  16. No MATs in Wales, so LEAs are still relevant. WG has been funding upgrades, and the LEAs have been directing them. For us this started with infrastructure (though not servers as much, due to Hwb) down all the way to end user devices (which we choose). It has suited us as a school.
  17. Our LEA upgraded us all under LiDW in 2014 (n APs and Cisco switches) then again in 2020 (ax APs and Aruba switches). All wifi config and management is centralised, which works well as the support is good. The APs are very good (Cisco) and we have very few issues.
  18. We did ours in a modular way. Out old lighting was the same - 1980s, filament lamps, unbelievable heat from them (they set off the fire alarm with smoking dust from sitting for a while). Used to blow lamps regularly needing a scaffold to replace. The controllers died, so I switched to DMX controlled dimmers with the old lights. These did a few years then started to fail, but we then had a desk etc, so could replace the lights one by one. We wired in an array of 13A sockets so that the LEDs could be wired in using the existing power cables, also meaning we could access fuses etc easily at the patch panel. Then we bought more LEDs as budget allowed. Moved to a better desk. Expanded. We now have two nice systems that didn’t cost the earth (hall and Drama) where we can move the desk between them.
  19. I remember another thing from when we did ours - our ESXi box would always corrupt if it had the power pulled without shutdown. Had to reinstall the hypervisor every time (not the end of the world, but a pain and downtime!) Retired it in the end. Hyper-V will sort of tolerate it (though never test that with a production server!) IME. If you’re running Exchange or SQL on a VM you may have a bad day. Our Aruba switches don’t mind power cuts unless they’re stacked - often only one will boot properly but that may be a config quirk. Turning them both off and on will fix that.
  20. Yes, but what about for the total lifetime of the firewall? I reckon those figures show that.
  21. They will be Petabytes and Terabytes. I'd suggest that they're all-time Receive and Send perhaps?
  22. We had this when we had major wiring works (think three phase 500A with fuses like drinks cans). It was off for a couple of weeks. As part of the works, they fitted a changeover switch in the server room and a hookup for a generator. Kept us online throughout. Practical to do this?
  23. My reseller managed to move my keys to another account when they started the process of retiring the VLSC, as it was different to our global admin. Much easier now.
  24. Not sure about 10.5, but you could download 10.6 at one time, then make a bootable USB to install it. Not sure if it’s available now.
  25. Have a search on here - this gets asked quite often. The super-easy answer is Teams. I know you’ve had to move to Google, but if you federate back to M365 you can do it easily enough.
