Guess the Xmas Day release for Witcher: Blood Origin wasn't the best idea as no-one's mentioned it. Saw the first one last night and thought it was possibly a stronger start than the first Witcher.

Guess the Xmas Day release for Witcher: Blood Origin wasn't the best idea as no-one's mentioned it. Saw the first one last night and thought it was possibly a stronger start than the first Witcher.

I tried watching it with the other half, who admittedly doesn't usually pay enough attention to programmes instead preferring to half-watch and half-instagram scroll, and she tapped out before the end of the 1st episode.

 

I watched the other 3 on my own and was ... disappointed.

 

Everything about it was great - story, acting, special effects etc. It was just about 6 episodes too short! It was more crowded than a rush hour tube train, and it just meant everything felt less important as there was always something else just around the corner!

 

"And then this happened, and then this happened, and then THIS happened!" means I stopped caring about the first thing ages ago, even though it was potentially quite a pivotal point that deserved more attention. So somewhat similar to GoT S8 - only with decent writing this time.

 

(Also, absolutely LOVED Lenny Henry in this!)

A Spy Among Friends on ITVX is wonderful. But watch out, the app seems to keep pushing the last episode first which somewhat spoils the climax of this slow-burning talker.

 

Also thoroughly enjoyed Wednesday too.

I got into the first episode of Blood Origin, but the second left me a bit cold and I haven't got around to the final 2 yet (will do at some point though).

It's on the "to watch" list, but not got around to it yet. Bonus Daughter #2 is allegedly moving out soon so we may get around to the backlog of shows she wants to watch but, as she's often working late or running around after various people, rarely has time to.

I watched the first National Treasure but it just made me long for the original.. not mu cup of tea at all.

 

I've been watching Kaleidoscope on Netflix... it's not bad and does seem similar to the Oceans films.

1899 on Netflix. Only seen the first couple of episodes, but it's intriguing. Hoping it does have a "proper" ending though. The "revelation" about the priest in episode 2 seemed to be played as a "bet you didn't see this coming" scene, but I thought that it has been pretty much spelled out in the first ep.

 

As much as I loved 1899, I guessed almost everything that was coming (especially the ending, called it a few episodes in). And I'm honestly really not one to guess twists

Does it have an "end" or is everything left up in the air? They planned on having multiple seasons, but Netflix nixed that idea.

It "ends" the whole boat arc, and answers I'd say 90% of the questions viewers would have. As conclusive an ending as you could have while also leading into a second season (one that'll never happen)

Now onto The Rig, had mixed reviews online but 2 episodes in im enjoying it!

Was looking forward to this last night, but the rest of the family were incapable of being ready early enough. Fingers crossed for tonight!

Will be re-watching better call saul, good story line and keeps things interesting throughout. Recommend to any Breaking Bad fan.

Having completely missed the first two series, we have finally got around to watching Happy Valley.

 

It is brilliant! Though frequently a hard watch.

Series 1 & 2 cleared within a week, we have one more episode of series 3 to watch and then we are up to date.

 

It is superbly cast, excellently written and magnificently shot.

 

I shall be taking a fair few of Sgt Cawood's witty one-liners and claiming them as my own!

Yes - excellent series - as were the previous ones

 

I think I used to teach people like that!

Some people have said it is exaggerated but I really have seen people in similar situations

Finished 3 series, possibly 4 of late.

 

Willow (Disney+) is the possible as it has yet to be renewed. It was fun, but the teen-speak came over as anachronistic to me. I'd watch Season 2, but wouldn't cry if it never happened. I think I'd be more interested in the adventures of Boorman.

 

Treadstone (Amazon Prime). Bourne spin-off. Entertaining BUT very much "Book 1" of a now-cancelled series. There is some sense of an "ending", but the final ep sets up loads of never to be resolved cliffhangers.

 

Kim's Convenience (Netflix). Sitcom based around a Korean family where the parents run the eponymous store. One of those gentle comedies that comes in handy for those times when you don't want to go to bed quite yet. Season 5 feels like they knew there would be no Season 6 and, while things are left open, it definitely feels like it's a series closer. The son (Simu Liu) is now Shang Chi and I suspect that may have had something to do with the show ending.

 

The Witcher: Blood Origins (Netflix). I seem to be in the minority of people who actually liked this. If nothing else, as much as Henry C "made" the main show, at least no-one in this had such dodgy hair.

Just finished "The Thin Blue Line" - a great Rowan Atkinson classic.

 

I have just started Tulsa King. A completely different topic to the one above, but it's enjoyable!

Really enjoyed the first episode of Extraordinary.. very crude but I did LOL a few times. The interview bit was very funny.

My favourite show at the moment is Young Rock on Sky/Now TV. Remember watching the Rock when he was big in WWF/E so it occasionally touches on things I remember originally!

anyway - wondering whther or not to keep it

 

watched Peripheral - which I liked

also watched Rings of Power - which was good once I stopped expecting it to follow anything like Tolkein and accepted it as just another story with some of the same words

 

 

tried a few other things - like re-watching Good Omens

but since then I have just been watching stuff because I want to use it

watched most of the first series of House as I have never seen a full episode before

 

but not worth paying for IMO

 

am I missing anything??

 

and if I cancel it - its there another things - like Netflix - that I can try for free and see what it is like???

I am feeling like just sticking with Iplayer and ITVx and the other free stuff
