HarryMonkey Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 (edited) Loved this. Need a new series though - is there going to be one? Manifest S4 Trailer Edited September 30, 2022 by HarryMonkey
Norphy Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 The DS9 episode of Lower Decks did not disappoint. That was pretty much perfect!
VeryPC_Colin_M Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 Bit late to this one but recently discovered 'The Strain' on Disney+. It's a Guillermo del Toro show with 4 bingeable seasons and I'm loving it. One of the main cast is the grumpy caretake off of Harry Potter fame.

Don't expect anything too great in the road ahead as the quality worsens with each season. S4 was a real chore to finish and seemed to have had a major budget cut, but at least it gets a "proper" ending. Watch out for Cas Anvar from "The Expanse" in S3 and S4.
LeMarchand Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Finished the first season of "How I Met Your Father" on Disney +. OK occasionally, but not a patch on "Mother". Hopefully they have learned their lesson and won't have an ending as terrible as the original. Yes, it still smarts! Possibly the worst ending to a show ever.
6Foot2 Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 5Foot2 and I are currently catching up with series 5 of Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing on iPlayer. 1
mikeprice Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 CUrrently watching "Inside man" we were talking about it last night and neither of us know where they are going with it which makes it interesting Also watching "Rings of Power" clearly totally ignores pretty much everything Tolkien ever wrote except the names but OK apart from that

Now they can use cgi to de-age any children from flash forwards, so don't have to stick with an ending they filmed 7 years earlier. I liked the ending, why else would Ted be telling the story to his kids, did you not expect it?
LeMarchand Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 I liked the ending, why else would Ted be telling the story to his kids Because he wanted the kids to know how long he'd been searching for "the one"? The ending turned it into, "I did love your mom, but she was always the runner up prize as I was really after your hot Aunt Robin all along. We're both free now, so I'm gonna go for it. Don't mind, do you kids?"
mavhc Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 But she obviously wasn't around, did you want him to just mope about for the rest of his life?
LeMarchand Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 But she obviously wasn't around, did you want him to just mope about for the rest of his life? Possibly, if she was worth 70+ hours of story to get to just meeting. I definitely wouldn't expect him to spend that time telling his kids how long he'd had the hots for Aunt Robin, and now that their Mom was underground he was going to go for the person he'd been after in the first place.
HarryMonkey Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 5Foot2 and I are currently catching up with series 5 of Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing on iPlayer. One of the most delightful, humorous, gentle, poignant and entertaining programs in recent years. 1

That's the point though, she's a minor character in the story, he didn't spend ages talking about her vs Robin. Some people are unavailable at some points in their life, and he's spending ages rationalising it to himself via his kids, he wants their approval
6Foot2 Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 5Foot2 and I are currently catching up with series 5 of Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing on iPlayer. We have now finished the box set. 🎣 🐕 2
LeMarchand Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 That's the point though, she's a minor character in the story, he didn't spend ages talking about her vs Robin. Some people are unavailable at some points in their life, and he's spending ages rationalising it to himself via his kids, he wants their approval He wants their approval and for them to accept the fact that their mother was second choice? Classy move, Ted. The real ending.
mavhc Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 He wants their approval and for them to accept the fact that their mother was second choice? Classy move, Ted. No, he chose their mother first, and now he's implicitly asking their approval for Robin as his next choice.
LeMarchand Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 Nope, he chose Robin first and never got over her to the extent that he spent 70+ hours telling his kids how into her he was and way less than an hour on how much he loved their mom. Besides, the title of the show was "How I Met Your Mother", not "I've Been Crushing on Aunt Robin For Years, Mind If I Try My Luck Again?".
Jawloms Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 Just got in to "The Detectorists". Not exactly fast paced, but I'm quite enjoying it! 1
LeMarchand Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 Finished She Hulk, which was quite fun though the best thing was imagining the frothing mouths and angry heads exploding in certain parts of the internet when they watch the final episode. 1

My daughter was super excited about this but got bored, not sure who its aimed at tbh... I can't bring myself to watching them ruin Daredevil Critical Drinker is one of the frothers.. very entertaining
LeMarchand Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 My daughter was super excited about this but got bored, not sure who its aimed at tbh... I can't bring myself to watching them ruin Daredevil Critical Drinker is one of the frothers.. very entertaining Mme and Mlle LeMarchand both loved She Hulk, so maybe older than your daughter? I actually found all the Netflix MCU shows overly po-faced (don't think I managed to finish any of them) and preferred the Ben Affleck DD (though Jennifer Garner may have influenced my thinking there). I can't stand people with channels like that guy, especially as some people think they are the ultimate arbiters of taste and/or have "proof" that is doomed. They just seem full of bile. Out of the first 24 vids, one may or may not be positive, 2 seem begrudgingly so, 2 are actually positive (and I agree that RRR is actually worth a look!) but 19 appear to be negative. If modern media is so rubbish, why doesn't he look elsewhere?
abillybob Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 Superstore, just love easy watches. It's got that kind of Office (US) feel to it.
Norphy Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 GF and I watched Black Bird on AppleTV+ a couple of weeks back. It was very good, well worth the watch.
Dos_Box Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Just finished Am I Being Unreasonable on the BBC. Loved Daisy May Cooper in This Country and this was quite a bit different. A bit of a slow burn but the final two episodes really begin to shine a light on events and the ending had me going 'Oh!'. Worth a watch IMO.
LeMarchand Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Finished "The Sandman" last night. Possibly because Morpheus looks more "otherworldly" on the page, I never equated him as a manifestation of the author until I saw him in this. Very impressed on the whole.
