Here we get the student to save it on a USB (they use laptops) and they're then escorted back to my office (Data & Exam Manager) where I can print it and collect it for them to then sign every page. The only exam for which printers are necessary for us within the IT suite themselves is A Level Computer Science Paper 1 (coding), due the entire test being required to be on computer. Otherwise it's laptops + USBs + me printing on their behalf for everyone.

Can't say I've ever experienced that issue at any point over the last 9 years I've been using Arbor (in various schools). It does talk about URLs - is there one listed within the club's description/on its page anywhere? Otherwise, would definitely recommending flagging with your support - either Arbor directly or 3rd party, whichever you pay for.

Arbor pretty much does this all for us already: But we're currently just a single academy rather than part of a Trust, so unsure if it will be as much use at that level.

Yeah, holding out hope that the Librarians follow a similar thing to Ork Weirdboyz in terms of changes to how they work, which might make having a specific detachment for them slightly superfluous. But will have to wait and see. Might end up just doing them as a modelling project if the rules don't seem particularly conducive as I don't have much else on currently apart from putting transfers on a bunch of Panzer IVs for my 2nd SS (which won't take more than a single evening once I get round to it!) for Bolt Action.

Completely agreed. However I don't expect that to be happening any time soon! And it wasn't much after I posted this that they revealed the list of the Space Marine detachments. And no Librarius one. Sad times indeed. There's details to be looked over, but still, makes me refrain from getting my clippers out anytime soon at least.

Agreed. No reason why they can't just have 'Captain' and then in wargear he can replace his armour with one of 5 different options to do the same thing as Captain in Phobos, Captain with a Jump Pack, Captain in Terminator, etc. etc. GW are going to be sorely disappointed then 😛 thankfully I already have a large number of unbuilt boxes that I've bought already pending any price increase. The new Intercessors are possibly the only ones I'm looking at potentially buying again, but even then I don't know that they look exciting enough to shell out for (and especially not at 'official' prices!). Main issue is going to be whether they keep the Librarius detachment (or similar) in place. If they do, we're good. If they don't? Blood Ravens won't get off the floor.

Interesting - but not surprising - to see GW moving the majority (if not the entirety?) of the 'first born' marines to Legends. I wonder how long they'll stay there before they get fully shelved? A couple of editions maybe? But maybe they'll stick around longer due to the extensive collections people have, as compared to some of the more unique models that have been 'legended' for other factions. As someone who is keen to get a Space Marine army back up and running (sold my Iron Hands at the start of 10th), I'm very keen to see exactly how they're implementing the 'less is more' approach to marines. Fewer boxes definitely sounds preferable to having to drop £500 on an army again. And from the video they put up it's interesting to see what looks like Intercessors having the ability to shoot and action. I would expect to see similar ways to change 'either/or' choices into 'and' choices if they're going to reduce the number of units those armies have. And as I'm planning on doing Blood Ravens, will be very interested to see if they copy the new Psychic stuff similar to the Ork codex. Will make running Librarians more interesting again, rather than just someone who has a special shooting attack.

It's unlikely to be subscriptions per army, but rather when you buy the codex and input the code into the app, it 'unlocks' that army so you get all their info and then any further updates for them (e.g. new units/rules released). The only subscription per say would be for the app itself if you want to build more than one list, otherwise you don't need to subscribe. Personally, I'd much rather they moved towards the Warlord model - one subscription for the app which unlocks EVERYTHING for all the armies! But there's no way GW would ever let it be that cheap!

So was going to write an amusing (well I thought so) reply to someone in another thread regarding G7 leaders, and did a quick search to find who the current leaders are. Imagine my surprise when Copilot confidently told me that the leaders for Canada, Japan & USA "as of 2026" are individuals who left office in 2025!

We're closed tomorrow and Thursday. Staff have been told they can come in if they want to (as we have several rooms with air con), but otherwise can stay home. Pretty much every other school locally has done the same, as have all the ones in the next town over where the wife works (she even finished at lunch time today!)

Thing is, they've definitely got the capacity to do it - look at Dreadfleet which was released in 2011 (dear lord, was it really that long ago?) That game was amazing, but was just a one off. But it proves they have the ability to make the models and the rules, should they be so inclined. I'm hopeful wit the return (sort of) of Epic, that both Gothic and MoW might not be too far off. We can but hope. Honestly, as much as I love both 40K and Fantasy, GW's 'specialist' games were always the better, more fun games amongst their selection. It was so gutting to have them all shelved permanently by the previous CEO's short-sighted vision.

You can say that again! The Skaven stuff dying I accepted, as it's cheap, funny and very on-brand for Skaven (plus also came as a result of setting my opponents ship on fire, so it's win-win!). But some of the other fleets are just hot garbage because of it. Like one of the Orc vessels who's main purpose is to ram other ships as it has a massive drill on board, but when it does so on a 1-2 it itself sinks. Like .... why? Just reminds me so much of how O&G animosity changed over the years for Warhammer and swung wildly between 'very amusing characterful rule' to 'made this army almost unplayable because of it'. But yes, would love them to re-do the rules (don't care about the boats themselves, 3D printing has solved that issue!).

Played my first game of Man O' War in about ... *cough* something years decades on Monday evening. God I forgot how much fun the 1990's Games Workshop rules were - although massively imbalanced! My Skaven fleet destroyed more of its own ships than I did enemy ones - still one though thanks to a double Screaming Bell ring on the last turn 😁

On a similar point, I used to swim for Windsor and on Mondays we used Eton's pool - straight after their water polo team. Frequently saw William in the showers! 🤫

3D printing! The 1k list I posted above cost me £140 all in, but that includes the costs of the files - which I don't have to buy again. So, for example, printing another 3 Zoanthropes will run me to about £15, compared to £49.50 for the official kits. Must I love GW's products, I simply can't justify paying that level of price anymore, even if I buy it 3rd party so it's 15% off, it's still more than double what I can pay at home (well, not my home, a friend's, but you get the point). If I was restricted to only buying official GW models I'd have dropped 40K like a stone years ago, as there's no way I could afford to keep up with it. I'd have restricted myself purely to historicals - although annoying many of them seem to be seeing what GW can get away with and thinking it sounds like a good idea ....

Like anyone who works in IT has any CP left to spend on such luxuries 😛

The other added benefit of using Crusher Stampede is it's our only Purge the Foe disposition (but will be interesting to eventually see how all the various ones interact).

Subterranean Assault & Invasion Fleet both being 3DP was entirely predicable though in all honesty. They're by far and away the best detachments that 'Nids currently have, outside of going super niche assimilation swam or similar. I had already toyed around with moving my list to a Crusher Stampede to allow me to also take the Norn one, although doing so doesn't particularly bring much as the detachment doesn't massively bolster my Emissaries (seems more geared up for Assimilator's rather than Emissaries), but I guess it's free at 2,000 so why not?

Just to make anyone aware who isn't already, the new rules for 40K 11th edition are now available on the Warhammer Community website to download. Obviously these are just the basic rules, and more bits and pieces are forthcoming, but they're there if anyone wants to read through them.

Agreed. I cannot fathom how one could draw a conclusion of SIMS being a better product when, by virtually every metric available, it objectively isn't. But not my monkeys and not my circus. If they want to waste thousands on a sub-par product, go ahead.

I've refrained so far from adding to this conversation, for not wanting to make it feel like I'm 'piling on' when this is clearly a decision that wasn't taken by yourself. But, as one of said admin users (currently a Data Manager and oversee the Exams Officer), I would just add that almost every admin role is immeasurably quicker and easier with Arbor than it is with SIMS (and I'm sure would be with Bromcom or any other MIS that's not stuck in the dark ages). Yes, there is a learning curve (but it's not particularly steep!), but in reality they'll have made back any time spent training within the first term of use. Just for exams alone, being able to copy/duplicate seating plans saves the EO literal hours as compared to SIMS. The census takes me minutes instead of days. The list goes on. I appreciate this very much isn't your decision, and it's one that's already been made, but honestly it's really frustrating to witness admin staff in schools being so belligerently closed-minded as adopting new approaches that they force the rest of the school's user base to continue to use a sub-par product and, most likely, end up costing the school thousands of pounds in terms of extra fees for a multitude of products that would be entirely unnecessary if they just allowed the school to use software developed in the 21st century.
