LeMarchand Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Watched the first episode of Batwoman. Didn't have very high expectations as I have yet to find a CW DC superhero show I like, but it was... OK. Some odd lighting/cinematography choices, but better than I was expecting. Odd to see Rachel Skarsten as a "baddy" when the first thing I saw her in was as one of the "Birds of Prey" where she was on Batgirl's side.

Didn't notice it in the sky listings
LeMarchand Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 @LeMarchand which channel was that on? Didn't notice it in the sky listings I read that Sky didn't get hold of the rights to BW and whoever has them is keeping schtum. Unless you meant BoP, which I seem to recall being on what was then Sci-Fi.
Boredguy Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Yea I meant BW since you said you'd watched the first Episode.
mavhc Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Channels are still a thing? There's only The Internet channel now. Alone Together, 2 twentysomethings parody idiot twentysomethings
CHiLL Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 @LeMarchand which channel was that on? Didn't notice it in the sky listings I don't think a UK channel has been announced yet, though it aired on The CW in the US. It would make sense for Sky to get it, with the other Arrowverse shows but the rumours on Twitter don't sound good. Sky have apparently said that another broadcaster has picked it up, but didn't state which. That'll screw UK fans who are waiting for the upcoming Crisis on Infinte Earths crossover.
Norphy Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 (edited) Channels are still a thing? There's only The Internet channel now. The way things are going, it looks channels are coming back, albeit channels run by the content producers rather than third parties. Our days of paying £8/m for Netflix and getting a decent amount of content are numbered. You can already see evidence of this with Disney pulling their content from Netflix and Prime and pushing out Disney Life. The BBC look to be going in the same direction too. ICTDirect_Dave Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Watched the first episode of the Watchmen series last night. As a direct sequel and not a retelling of the graphic novel or the film, it appears to have legs. Compelling stuff so far!
witch Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 FLAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH is back That is all Even had the song in it too
mikeprice Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 FLAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH is back That is all Even had the song in it too Oh thanks now I have Brian Blessed from flash Gordon in my head and he won;t go away
ICTDirect_Dave Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 Oh thanks now I have Brian Blessed from flash Gordon in my head and he won;t go away Then you'll need to enjoy this little delight from The Infinite Monkey Cage. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/b036k5sm Start at 1.40 and enjoy Schrodinger's Gordon!
CAWJames Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 Ohhhh K...Watchmen. What the hell did I just watch? I remember reading the graphic novel back in the late 80's, early 90's but don't remember the content too well, I watched the film and remember a big blue "bulge", but talk about chucking you in at the deep end. Even with a little background info, I was a bit lost. I don't remember a HEAVY white supremacist lean at all or an HR panda! Don't get me wrong, enjoyed it, but hope it makes some sense at some point.

Don't get me wrong, enjoyed it, but hope it makes some sense at some point. It's a direct continuation of the graphic novel, so knowing what happened at the end of that is key. HBO have released a few 'fbi files' that go over the time in between. - https://www.hbo.com/peteypedia Essentially, Rorschach's journal about the conspiracy at the heart of the comic and the reason he was killed by Dr Manhattan. has been adopted by a bunch of white supremacist nutjobs as their bible. Whilst nobody else believes it to be the truth. I'm sure it'll get fleshed out more as the series progresses, but for now I'm assuming that Jeremy Irons is an old Ozymandias who was the architect of said conspiracy and I'd expect things to move towards a state where he is found out. You're not wrong though, they didn't make it easy.
CAWJames Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 Ah yes, there was reference to Veidt being dead in a floating newspaper in one of the scenes, so that will unravel I'm sure and I can't unsee the "washing" scene...
ICTDirect_Dave Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 Found a cracker on ITV2 this weekend. Zomboat Birmingham is the epicentre of a Zombie Plague and an unlikely team of survivors band together to escape to London on a stolen canal boat. Genuinely good and funny, we watched the 5 available episodes over the weekend. 2
LeMarchand Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 Found a cracker on ITV2 this weekend. Zomboat I heard about this at the weekend too - don't know how I missed it. Not had time to watch any yet, though.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 I heard about this at the weekend too - don't know how I missed it. Not had time to watch any yet, though. Episodes are only half an hour long and very easy to consume. The finale airs tomorrow
JJonas Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 I've been enjoying His Dark Materials on the BBC https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000b1v2
mavhc Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 Finished Alone Together and Kominski Method, started HDM, End Of the Fing World s2, Lost Cities with Albert Lin (let's lidar columbia, use AI to remove the jungle, find new lost cities, hack through 700 feet of 52 degree incline mountain jungle, and find them. Also lost his leg below the knee 3 years before, seems to have made him faster), and Search Party
Garacesh Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 Yay - Rick & Morty is back I'll probably just wait until the entire season is available before bothering.
LeMarchand Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 As recommended by @ICTDirect_Dave, the first ep of Zomboat was pretty funny. His Dark Materials still good, but I'm starting to notice that they can't afford to put everyone's daemons on screen. Plus Ruth Wilson is great actress and an attractive lady, but she's not 1/2 a page of banging on about her beauty attractive (as it seemed in La Belle Sauvage). Apologies to Ms. Wilson! 1
ICTDirect_Dave Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Loved Zomboat - Thanks @ICTDirect_Dave It's a lot of fun isn't it? I watched the first Episode of The Mandalorian last night. Brilliant so far. It looks gorgeous and our lead character looks to have an interesting personal journey to complete as the show progresses. Directed by Dave Filoni who helmed SW:Rebels it looks and feels like a hybrid of that show and the original 3 movies. Worth a watch! 2
