Finally managed to get on with Good Omens last night. Four out of six episodes done and I am thoroughly enjoying it :)

What took you so long?!?!

There's a kind of shocked/disapproving/disappointed face that @Dos_Box gives me when I mention that I've not seen a big tv show or film yet and I'm pretty certain I've got the same face pointing in your direction right now!

Only managed a couple of eps at Château LeMarchand. We're all enjoying it - but it's a bit... cosy, so people tend to drift off to sleep at different points. Then there's no time to rewind, and we have to wait for the various catchups to take place or people have to watch the same bits multiple times.

Started in on Jack Ryan (up to S1E03)and it feels very much like "24", though a bit less prone to stringing along plot points interminably. I guess only having 8 eps means it's a bit tighter. I was really expecting the passports in the jar to be a source of tension for 2 or 3 eps rather than 1/2 of one. However, I'm a bit confused by the bit with the drone pilot. I could understand him inviting "Blanche DuBois" back, but not "Stanley Kowalski" as well, and that seemed a very specific kink that Stanley and Blanche had going on and oddly related to Drone Guy's problems.

Finally finished Swamp Thing. Been a long time since I read thee comics, but this seemed to cover the start of Alan Moore's run fairly well. Not sure why DC cancelled it after one episode (especially as the last has a post-credits sting), but neither am I founding the "Save Swamp Thing" fan club. Kevin Durand was surprisingly good as Jason Woodrue; it's the first time I've seen him act.

I've tried to get into the Expanse television series but for some reason I just can't. I love the books but something about the series leaves me cold. Could be the casting, I think they cast Naomi and Miller quite well, Alex isn't bad but Amos especially is wrong. He's described as a tall, muscular, intimidating behemoth in the books, I always saw him like Jayne in Firefly, but in the television series they've got someone who, well, isn't.

As someone who came to the TV show first I never had the problem. But remember reading that they had the same issue with Bobby in Season 2. Where-by they (Amos and Bobby's actors) are actually pretty tall and heavyset, but in a cast that's predominantly over six feet they look kind-of average.

Star Trek: Discovery - first episode last night. IMO pants.

I watched the latest two "Short Treks" (the animated ones) which I wasn't holding out much hope for, but they were both kinda sweet.

Batwoman - It's about on a par with some of the other CW shows and I'm enjoying it enough so far. It's a shame that Sky couldn't get the rights for the show, as UK viewers are going to miss out on ep2 of the Crisis cross-over.

Season 1 of Discovery, then the opening 2 parter is probably the weakest part of the series. TBH I thought Battle of the Binaries was terrible, but the rest of S1 was pretty good.

If you're talking season 2 the first episode was one of the better ones IMO.

First episode of The Expanse Series 4 was superb!

Amazon have sunk a bit of cash into it by the looks.

The cast have grown more into their characters now. I'm starting to believe in Amos which was always the hardest of the four main ones.

Avasarala is going around swearing like a trooper finally too. Thank goodness, the TV version of her was always a little too tame for me.

Anyhow, this is a superb start to the story told in Cibola Burn. Worth a watch.
