Coronavirus: General discussion (see opening post for rules)
mole replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
I started to feel 'weird' evening of Sunday 18th dec. Next day felt bad and test positive for Covid, lasted a good 10 days still have mild headache/bunged up. Whole family had it and friends across the road (no contact) also tested positive a week ago. -
Thanks both. Rebooted my laptop and v23 still not opening so joy, but not my job to make that work luckily.

Hi So we are looking to roll out Smart Notebook 23 across a number of seminar rooms. We will not be installing any Smartboards of any kind probably some non Android based touch displays, with Smart Notebook software installed on the Windows PC should someone want to use it. Looking at the Smart website it says: Free with your SMART Board SMART Notebook Award-winning desktop software for creating engaging learning experiences with your SMART Board® – no subscription required. So does mean that Smart Notebook 23 is completely free and does not require any license, email activation of any sort? Having said that I've just installed it on my laptop and it fails to even open so that's not a good start for it. tia

There's an extension mic you can get for it: https://www.onedirect.co.uk/audio-and-video-conferencing/polycom/polycom-studio-expansion-microphone Contact Poly and see if you can get a loan unit to try in the room. Really tricky - if you go down a Teams room, then your stuck with Teams and any other vc platform integration zoom, etc... using the cameras/mics is hard/expensive - involves multiple controls - confusing for customers. Or for an 'open' system to use with whatever VC browser platform you want to use, a good spec usb PTZ camera and separate mics and a dsp feeding into the PC via usb audio route, with ceiling speakers but then you'd be looking at 4k plus install/configuration. Have a look on Biamp website, there's a good equipment/designer on there. https://support.biamp.com/Design_Tools/Conference_Room_Designer

Another vote for the Poly Studio USB with the additional mic, we've installed around 25 of these so far with great success, just make sure firmware is up to date (issue last year whereby many bricked themselves and had to be rma'd) Easy to install great mic pickup, camera is very good and audio is loud and clear. You can pretty much forget ip/h323 based vc these days, thank goodness.

Morning Yesterday I had my pc on, connected via remote access, went to put kids to bed, came back and couldn't connect, noticed pc was turned off, and it will not turn back on again. When I opened the case the motherboard led was on, tried power button and the cpu fan looked like it wanted to spin but didn't. I've removed everything - gpu, hard drives, replaced cmos battery and tried again - this time both the psu fan and cpu cooler fan maybe did 1 rotation then again nothing. I've ordered another PSU as I think this maybe the issue but want to check here first just in case. Its a rather old setup from 2012/13 (used as a htpc) so really could be any part has gone (ASUS M5A78L-M MB, AMD Phenom II X4 960T, Asus eah5450 gpu) Thanks Edit - Did a corsair PSU test with a paper clip and PSU seems to be fine, looking at motherboard or CPU now

We discovered we had a hedgehog a week ago in the garden, so I knocked up a hog house and put out some food for them. I put out a old mobile phone with some motion video software of it and recorded them, also had one sleeping in the hog house the other day.

So I've googled the TG%$T out of this and cannot find a solution so.... I have a surface Go, windows 10 and I need to try and get a long press via touch. It works with a mouse - a long left click. Reason being I have touch panels running and a long press allows different commands to run. So far I have tried, disabling right click on long press, changing the Touchmode_hold registry settings. thanks

I've found a Crestron module which should do the job for $50 - well at the very least put a play button on the control panel for the Apple TV.
