At the very least you need to send a strongly worded email highlighting all of the issues with these devices regarding safeguarding and compliance so when an incident does happen you can point to that email and say I advised you on this and was ignored.

I would still get him out of the house a few days before and set it up. So it can get its dashboard updates and install some games. Sea of Thieves would be my recommendation.
