Hi If you open http://www.edugeek.net/forums/ on your mobile/PDA you should see a mobile version of the forums. It is not WML but optimised html for mobiles. I was wondering if anybody use Multimedia Message Service (MMS) to send messages to mobiles. We are looking at the possibility of sending simple assessment reports to parents and we want more formatting than is available in a simple text (SMS). e.g. A seperate message for each student A message approx 12 lines long (1 line for each subject studied)- each line contains the subject name, current working grade and target + possibly some traffic light colouring Does anybody already use a MMS serivice if so what do you use it for and how? How/What langauge do you code MMS in - I've found several and as far as I can tell not all work on all handsets any idea which is best? Many Thanks Ralph

Hi, I've been asked to source a printer for our principal to use with his iPad when he's away from College, to use when at other schools, for example. The criteria are, it needs to be very small and portable, have wifi, be battery powered and be able to print documents from the iPad. Before I go too far i thought I'd see if anyone else has come across the need to do this and who has a recommended solution or any advice. Many thanks in advance, Meldrew

Hi guys, As the title says was wondering if any ict technicians or network managers use iPod touch's or iPad's as a technical tool to help solve issues. Came across an interesting thread about using an iPod touch on a mitel phone system for VoIP calling. It got me thinking what other uses do people use them for? What apps? What you have set up to work on them? They strike me as a great mobile device for remoting onto a server quickly or changing a password, logging a call in spiceworks etc. What do you guys use them for? Thanks

I want a small, lightweight, PHONE with decent data. Predominantly the phone will be used as a phone with the occasional text message sent and received. I also need to connect to the phone via bluetooth from my Nokia n800. The Sony Ericsson W910i seems perfect - small, lightweight, HSDPA (not that I can use ut yet), etc., etc. Unfortunately I have just read a shed-load of horror stories so I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this phone (or possibly an equivalent from another manufacturer)?

Hi all, I am trying to connect a WIndows 10 Nokia 950 to my Windows 7 Pro machine via Windows Mobile Device Centre 6.1. Doesn't seem to want to connect. Anyone else have a similar issue with this? Many thanks!

Hello, We're currently using Lightspeed Mobile Manager to manage our 96 IPads. We recently acquired an Android tablet and seem to have no way of integrating this into Lightspeed. Does anyone have a similar environment where they use both IOS and Android tablets on one MDM. Allowing restrictions and policies on both. It would also be helpful having App management for both operating systems. Cheers

Hi All we are starting to see these 3g/mobile broadband dongles pop up, Staff, 6th formers bringing in laptops, even some lower school. As our system stands, only an admin could install one on a domain machine, so thats not the issue - its more about the what ifs and the unfiltered internet access. what sort of policies do you have in place? what would you suggest? Thanks Mark

I recently found a great iOS/Android app that enables you to monitor your Windows Servers/PCs. It's called Mobile PC Monitor PC Monitor - Monitor and manage all your PC's on the go from your iPhone, iPad, iPhone Touch and Android. and so far has been great for my needs. I think you have to pay for the app but after that you can monitor 5 machines for free, letting you monitor and kill processes, services, tasks, uptime, network interfaces, hard drives, cpu & mem usage and run terminal commands. It can do other things as well but they're the ones I use mostly. Anyway it's worth a look so thought I'd let you all know. Turns out they've got a web based client as well now, the developer is adding things at an astronomical rate!

I've just started getting in to Android development (actually, I've just started getting in to Android full stop!) and need a project to sink my teeth in to. By way of the poll, would anybody be interested in this? And on the technical/security front, would the kind people of EduGeek allow me the kind of [read-only] access I'd need to develop this if it was a popular suggestion?

Hi Does anyone know if its possible to synchronise an Exchange Public folder calendar with a personal calendar in Outlook? The original problem is that I am trying to sync a public folder calendar which is visible in Outlook 2003 with the calendar of a HTC HD2 mobile phone. As this is a windows based phone it uses activsync to perform this function but it is very linited in its funtionality & only allows sychronisation of the personal calendar. After hunting the net I can see that this is a big issue for many business users & Microsoft should really have addressed this problem. Most other mobile phone synchronisation software allows you to browse to other folders e.g. public folders to sync other than just the default personal calendar. There are numerous synchronisation apps out there that can sync data from one place to another but not from & to the public folder area that I could find. My workaround solution was that if it was possible to sync or schedule a copy of the public folder calendar with the personal calendar in Outlook this would solve the issue, all be it a little long winded. If anyone knows of an app that would be suitable or maybe theres some clever geeks out there that could write a script to do this then I would be very grateful. Any help appreciated. Thanks
