Hi All, I'm kinda new to joomla, dipped my toe in before, but only briefly, but do have a few years of web design, programing in PHP, ASP, etc... I've just completed a fresh install of edugeek 1.5 and am having problems uploading images. This is a fresh, clean install no other extensions added, the only change I've made is to disable the flash uploading from the global configuration as suggested in another thread. When I click the [image] link at the bottom of an article, the lightbox opens, but is plain white with it's black border and close button... nothing else. I have included a screenshot here http://stmarks.hostei.com/upload.tiff I am working on MacOSX 10.5.8, and am having this issue in both Safari & Firefox, unable to test in ie/win until tomorrow. I will provide an update then. Any help you can give me would really be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Dave

Hi All, I have just added the last bit to the Blog Post I have done which covers the 3 days, quite brief in some sense but contains plenty of information for you to have a read of. The session presentations have been added for you whom did not manage to get them from the Adobe Connect Live Stream. I have posted a link up there also to the Images that Ric_ has placed on Flicker for you all to have a browse through. Story covers both nights out also! EduTech Blog Post - EduGeek Conference 2011 in Preston I have added links back to the Exhibitors websites also. If they want to be removed or/ changed just post below or drop me a PM. Have a nice read, let me know if there are any issues. Hope it helps, James.

Technology & Learning - October 2008 - (Cover1) Page 20. They chopped the daylights out of my original text so it's obviously not as eloquent as I usually am and the edugeek plug got less "GO HERE NOW!!"

EduGeek Blogs Just found this site which contains a couple of blogs that seems to be written by a school NM in Australia. It seems to be broken into two sections; network2.0 which outlines his upgrade of a primary school network and Rolling Shutdown that is more general news.

We now have user maps on EduGeek again. The old system used Frappr which required users to register but we have integrated a module for vbulletin using Google Maps which allows you to zoom in to where you live. Its not precise unless you have a GPS but it should get rough areas rendered. I have also included the Frappr map at the bottom so you can still add yourself there if you want. You can find the link on the navbar at the top. Note: Markers are only updated every 15 minutes so after entering your details you will have to wait for it to be generated. Enjoy

Hi If you open http://www.edugeek.net/forums/ on your mobile/PDA you should see a mobile version of the forums. It is not WML but optimised html for mobiles. Please try posting or reading your posts on the move. If the topic/forum appears in green it implies there have been posts. Please post comments/bugs here. Enjoy

I have just added the ability to translate any thread into a selection of languages using Googles translator service. When you click a language a new window will appear and Google will attempt to translate the thread. http://www.cogonline.net/images/tutorials/translate_thread.gif Please note the translation is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate or even close, but usually its not too bad Enjoy

We have installed some blog software for you to enjoy. All users have a blog each if they want. Clicking "Blogs" on the forum menu bar above shall show you the latest posts and to post your own entry click here If you find a user blog you like then you can subscribe to it and receive notifications of new entries. Only registered, verified users can post comments or blog. Create a few posts and have a go of your own blog Enjoy

OK... it's been a busy couple of months but we're now on the last push for the next famous EduGeek conference. You may or may not be aware that the conference is to be held on Thursday 28 May at the Woodlands Centre in Chorley. It promises to be another good one with a varied selection of topics. If you want to come, please register for free at http://www.eventelephant.com/edugeekconferencemay2009 - if you have to cancel we need 2 weeks' notice though because otherwise we'll have to pay the £30 for your seat regardless! If you've already registered, thanks and I hope to see you there. We'll send some reminder emails out soon

I've been unable to connect to the jabber server for about a week and wondered if there was a problem? I use Pidgin and have also tried spark. As far as I know nothing's changed my end, of course I could be wrong! I checked with the guides and everything seems ok. Pidgin says: Could not establish a connection with the server: Connection refused. Spark says: Unable to connect to server: Invalid name or server not reachable

PC World New Zealand have printed my letter in the latest edition of their magazine. The letter even got the first place treatment with the large attention grabbing title. There has already been at least one new user from it too and it has only been out at news stands since late yesterday. So with any luck get ready to welcome an influx of new users from New Zealand as more people read the magazine. I have a subscription but that always takes a little longer to my mailbox than to the shops so I only have a grainy cellphone picture of it for the moment which is attached to this post.

I have tweaked EduGeeks RSS feeds so they now update every 10 minutes. This should make them much more usable as for some reason it was set to 60 minutes before. I may change this in the future depending on load but I will update this post with changes, it may even get updated quicker No RSS feeds? click here to view our list of feeds.

Now when you browse http://www.edugeek.net you should get our new improved homepage. All the content from joomla has not been migrated yet but it should be complete tonight. New features: 1024x768 compatible Forum posts are instantly updated Login box issues should be fixed Tweaked theme Random Social Groups listed Search the forums box Live Users online Site Stats New avatar style login box Calendared dates shown Todays Birthdays And more to come... Better polls You should now have a mobile compatible frontpage NOTE: This may be tweaked depending on server load so things may get thinned out to reduce queries. Post comments/thoughts here Phew, that should fix a lot of issues with the site

Just a post to let you know we are now running Joomla 1.5 Stable so I hope the issues with the homepage are resolved. Enjoy

I have just updated us to vbulletin 3.7 beta 5. With beta 5 we get the new Conversation feature; a means by which visitor messages posted between two users on each others' profile pages can be viewed in a unified form. Look for the 'View Conversation' link on visitor messages to use the feature. http://files.vbulletin.com/3.7/conversation.png Also I have enabled the "Your Notifications" menu which should make tracking of social groups and other parts of vBulletin like PM's. You can find it in the top right corner after you login (only when you have a new PM for example) and it provides a quick way to see what pending requests you have. That area in the top right will also highlight itself when you have a new notification until you clear it although this part may be tweaked later. Thoughts/comments? Enjoy

EduGeek All Dark Style I have been working on releasing a style which was originally intended for personal use as I spend a lot of time on these forums, mainly just reading all the info on here as it's all useful. I noticed that it was kind of eye straining when I was browsing because of how bright the background was and there was no way to force the night time mode on (that I could see anyway) so I thought I would make it dark for me and then I thought I might as well share it in case other people want it. While I know that this isn't the best style and there is a lot of redundant code within the CSS, I am working towards removing that code and improving everything on the style. There are a few things that I am aware of, and I have done every page yet so some are still white, however the main parts of the site have been changed so I thought it would be best to make it public now and update it if people start using it I can update it on their feedback if not I will just continue to develop it for myself! Another quick note to mention is that, this isn't the optimal look, my plan is to make the site darker first and then change the aesthetics in more details to provide a better finish, so certain things will look awful but it won't be for too long, if you do use this style I encourage you PM me if you see something bad or feel free to change the code yourself. Style: https://userstyles.org/styles/150185/edugeek-forums-all-dark Here are some screenshots of what the site will look like once the style is installed: The screenshots are what I have been focusing on, there will be parts of the site that are kind of halfway in between which just means that webpage has some of the same selectors of the webpages I have been editing. Those pages will however get styled properly in due time. How to Install: You will need an extension for this to work, I recommend using Osprey for Chrome or StylRRR for FireFox: (I would also recommend using the Black V.5 of the current forum theme as well, this can be done at the bottom of the page.) Osprey: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/osprey/ekjapccimkannnfgcnnoajhfdglobgak?hl=en StylRRR: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylrrr/ There are other extensions that will support this, these are just the two that I use. (I would not recommend Stylish as it has bad rep now for tracking cookies https://www.ghacks.net/2017/01/04/major-stylish-add-on-changes-in-regards-to-privacy/) Install via Osprey: Installing via Osprey is fairly straight forward, once you have the extension installed. Simply go to the EduGeek Website (EduGeek.net - The I.T. Professionals' life line). Click on the extension and choose "Find more Styles for this site" It will take you to a webpage where you will see this style. Press "Install Style." and the style will now be applied to this website. You can disabled it by un-checking the Enable/Disable box. To update the theme, open Osprey and press "Manage Installed Styles", once on there press "Check for updates" under "Edugeek Forum All Dark." Install via StylRRR: Installing via StylRRR is a little more difficult, the extension says it has a right click function however I could not get it to work. Once you have StylRRR installed you will need to go to the site of the style which is here: https://userstyles.org/styles/150185/edugeek-forums-all-dark If you scroll down the page you will see a bottom that says "Show CSS", select all and copy the code. Open up StylRRR and press "New Style", in the top three boxes you can type anything you like e.g: Name: EduGeek All Dark Author: Any name URL: https://www.edugeek.net In the big text box paste the code that you copied. Press "Save" and the theme should be enabled for the site. You can press edit style and choose the one you named for this site to enable/disable. To update the style you will need to check back on the website (or this thread) and copy the new CSS code and paste it back into the style that you named to get the newer version. Any feedback is welcome so please feel free to mention anything you dislike (or like). P.S if this is in the wrong section I apologize I wasn't sure where to put it.

Hi just wondering if anyone has a link of the the old theme from the 1.0 package for version 1.5 available?
