I have, it's pretty neat. I asked it to make an html page with a clock and a logo of our school... it did it!

I've been unable to connect to the jabber server for about a week and wondered if there was a problem? I use Pidgin and have also tried spark. As far as I know nothing's changed my end, of course I could be wrong! I checked with the guides and everything seems ok. Pidgin says: Could not establish a connection with the server: Connection refused. Spark says: Unable to connect to server: Invalid name or server not reachable

1. I mentioned this at the conference to ZeroHour I think, but it would be handy if the chat system sent you a message if something happened on the site that you needed to know about. For example, if you recieved a PM. The notification system should be configurable either via the web site and via talking to the system via chat (I imagine an IRC bot style interface would be best). 2. Archiving and searching of Conference room logs. There are several of us regulars in there on a daily basis now. Often times I've half remembered a conversation on a technical subject and wanted to go back and find/re-read it. But I can't because there's no record. 3. Conference room stats. Stats are fun! More stats! Yay!

Sorry to drag this up as I know it's been covered before, but most of the posts I can find are fairly old. I'm looking for a messaging system to use on our teacher notebooks, for intra-staff communication. The main purpose is so the attendance officer can remind the teachers to submit their electronic rolls, but a general instant messaging system is also required. We are currently using GoogleTalk, as we have Google Apps, but the GTalk client relies on users 'friending' other users, and as far as I am aware the client is not able to do SSO, so it relies on users actually signing into it in the first place (which they don't do). So I'm looking for a simple chat/IM interface, that is AD integrated and supports SSO so that it automatically runs and signs in on user logon. I've looked at OpenFire/Spark and it looks good, but can't find clear documentation on getting SSO to work on Server 2008 or R2, and it looks fairly complicated. Our domain is Server 2008 R2 and client workstations are Windows 7. Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? Cheers

Has anyone got any experience deploying Red5Chat or is any able to provide any pointers about where to start? I've not got any experience compiling Java and there is essentially no documentation available either on that site or on SF. Not hugely surprising as the site is trying to push you towards their install services where it is all configured for you, but I'd like to have a crack at it as a learning experience before I go running to them with the credit card (and subsequently when it breaks).

Hello all Is anyone in schools using a LAN form of instant messenger and has it become a success? its just so staff can communicate between classes or they can leave me a message when I'm not in my room. I've looked on edugeek and on Google, most of the sites are blocked by LEA. Im currently looking at BorgChat, looks good so far. thanks Steve

Hey guys, just a quick message. Me and a couple of other people from schools around the UK have been chatting on IRC and helping answer each others questions, and I thought you might like to join in. There is a stand alone client here that will take you straight to the correct server/channel: http://www.theatomicedge.com/chat.html (I will pay the $10 a month or whatever to remove the ads if I get enough interest) Alternatively, if you have your own IRC client, we are on the irc network detailed here: Server: irc.synirc.net Channel: #EduTechiesUK I'm AtomicEdge over there. Hopefully I will see you soon!

The subdirectory /chat gets blocked by the SWGfL, just so you know.
