Yeah, pity is the local support unit is super understaffed. I am going to assume this needs a copy of the DB sent to capita, but it took 4 days to get the indexing patches. I have never seen a jump like this before, I am worried what it could be. Because I have been having performance issues with SQL for a week now.

To add sim_DAT is set to grow by 1mb, sims_LOG is by 10% If this is assessment data, it is a hell of a lot for one day is it not?

The Sims backup was, that's what caused me to notice it in the first place. I can't see any amount of physical data which should cause a jump that big. I also had an LDF of 72gb, but resolved that.

I will check that tomorrow morning, but it deffo wasn't photos, as I did that weeks before (I checked)

Hello All, So today, when running the indexing patches for SIMS, I have noticed that the backup file size (and the SIMS MDF on closer inspection) has suddenly jumped up in size from 15gb to 22gb! I narrowed this down to it happening during the day last Thursday, as the morning backup it was the old size and the evening 6.5-7gb greater in size. Got a ticket logged with our local support unit, but can anyone thing of any reason for SQL to increase the DB size like that at all??????

Silly question, have you run RSOP on the machine? That may tell you if something is taking precedent which is hidden out of the way?

just out of interest, was this an email asking for bitcoin because they had been on "interesting" websites, or was it the one that sent out a lot of emails to the entire of the address book and other addresses in the recently used etc with a Dropbox image for an invoice?

have you tried Servers Plus? They have some pretty good value bits for simple setups, I used them once, quite a few year ago, for a quick HyperV sertup i needed to do. You can usually get tower servers for around £700 if you already have the other bits

There was a SIMS Bulk Import Tool kicking around the Forum somewhere. With that you can export your user details from SIMS to a spreadsheet, use the concatenate formula to pull them together and then import it back into SIMS into the email address field. I think the project closed down a while ago, but you may find a copy somewhere (i'm afraid I do not, as I use SalamanderSoft's AD Sync for this, and other things)

@JOrdan01070 that is what I did here, over a slightly shorter span, but I did do it in stages, as long as your WiFi SSIDs are the same and it points to the Same RADIUS rules, it'll work. Set yourself a RADIUS template for the passkey (or whatever it wants to call it) and add each access point to it as you go along. What I did with that was set DHCP reservations for each AP and added them to RADIUS before I put them up. Then just used the phone app to adopt them and make sure the settings were correct. I was averaging on getting 4-5 done an hour when installing with this method, so managed to do our entire school within a couple of weeks.

I have recently, over the past 18 months, replaced my entire network within unifi/ubiquiti kit. I would say replace your wireless first, by far the easiest part, and I did it staggered over a week or two. I went from meru AGN aps to the AC pro. Then I did the switches, that's where is got fun, our internet connection isn't actually a direct connection, it is a wan port on a layer 3 switch to the LA LAN. So we have to have our IP addresses just pass through. So I am not using a USG I'm using an Edgeswitch 16 XG for routing and unifi for the rest. I have and unifi 16-xg which has the servers plugged in with cat6a for 10gbps. If the 48 port Poe are in the same cabinet, get the SFP+ cables. I have two of the same connected to the XG with this. Just didn't see the point of sfp+ to fibre then back the other way in the same room. You get the throughput without an issue. I reduced (a mix of 24port 1Gbps and 48 port 10/100) from 28 switches and 8 Poe injectors to 8 unifi switches and one Edgeswitch

Guest network is awesome, I have a guest SSID that is voucher based, there are vouchers based at reception, they type in the single use code for 24 hours access to the internet. It is pretty cool like that

I replaced 52 Meru AGN APs with 40 Unifi ones, not had an issue I used the POEs we had before, just make sure they are set as trunk ports on the switch config, as Meru had them as statick access, Controller runs on a windows VM not a problem 100% free, and nicely done, just make sure your APs can access the internet we went straight to MSDistribution, asked for a quote, and got the AC Pro APs for about £100 each I must admit, I have become a bit of a unifi fanboy after that, I replaced all of our switches with Unifi ones (except the core routing layer 3, to which I have used a Ubiquity EdgeSwitch, same hardware, different OS/firmware) I do like it very much @AJWhite1970 convinced me to take the plunge and I have never looked back

You'll start rumours ;-) Glad to have been of help, I deployed it with group policy files, just copied it down, and within an hour I saw a lot of our students who require overlays using it and customising it to their needs. It's free, simple and easy to turn on and off.

There is also an application called colorveil just an exe that does the job.

I have done this before, I saved a Microsoft theme file in a shared location and set that theme file through GPO in login for the user. This was under windows 7 for the export though.

Is this going to be a flat network or require VLANs? I have recently replaced 27 cisco switches with 8 Unifi switches and 1 edgeswitch, all from ubiquiti and I did it for around the 7k mark, that was with new SFP+ modules and some SFP+ cables and 4 new 10gbps ethernet cards for the server. The reason for the edgeswitch was for our unique setup requireing layer3 routing to be transparent to our ISP (as our IP address are allocated from them, and the filtering is upstream there.
