  1. I have a HP Wireless Laser Printer that is so chatty over the internet, it is the highest amount of traffic over smoothwall by hits, but you cannot configure and use the network/wireless on it without agreeing for it to communicate over the web and get constant firmware updates.
  2. Are you going to visit the Lions and Tigers, only in Kenya???
  3. I am afraid I do not have access to IRMS but there is something in my head that says it is DOB +25 unless there is a Statement or EHCP and then it is DOB + 30
  4. How much!!!!!!
  5. The monitors, you plug in the monitor and windows downloads the LG app Automatically. The TVs, now that's a bit more scary.
  6. mod hat time This has the potential to become a very heated and passionate debate. JKR isn't very nice to certain members of our society and this can be seen at that but also we need to remember to try and keep a level head here. We are a nice community and should be working with one and other, let's not have an argument over this
  7. The closest I have to a Derek is a machine I am not responsible, it is the Building Management System, that only recently got moved to Windows 10 (thats right to Windows 10), that controls everything to do with the building and airflow etc. Luckily not the schools actual responsibility for another 8 years yet
  8. To make it even more fun, the two subject areas that were the early adopters, like withing 2 days, and are still the best at using it DT/Engineering and PE/Sport
  9. Actually was most of the science teachers that held out
  10. Ah the days of everyone much have a VLE, under BSF we were made to have Fronter, I spent years trying to get that manageable, Office Extensions and Web extensions for marking etc, was horrific. What happened was about 6 years of trying to get it working, I ended up taking over the network, after the Local Authority pulled the BSF MSP Contract, so I kind of gave the headteacher no option about me going in and dealing with it all (god am I still finding things now that I go What the Actual...) and I got Google Workspace setup, with Google Classroom and AD and Password synchronisation, and just sent out an all staff email. Within a month, all but one subject area has left Fronter in the dust and was using Google Classroom with minimal instructions etc and we have never looked back since. As for BYOD, that has kinda died a death with the mobile phone restrictions etc, as most people here just do not have a full computer at home, unless they are a PC Gamer and I don't think they would be brining in a whole PC each day.
  11. I have purchased and received both books in paperback yesterday. I preferred the consistent story telling of book two over the collection of incidents of book 1. I actually look forward to book 3 Also Darek/HAL is life. Darek/HAL are external
  12. Do Synology is used to backup 365 and Google Workspace for us. I use Microsoft DPM for onsite servers and (no laughing now) an external SCSI LTO8 tape drive, that backs up to tape once a week, with 12 tapes in rotation through that. Can't get more offline than a tape that is out of a drive and in a safe elsewhere.
  13. You can do with with Jamf and other MDMs too, it is the Platform SSO functionality within MacOS itself. I am not using it yet, but it is on my path of things to explore.
  14. I did 2012 to 2022, just had to make sure 2012 was on it's latest updates to work, was so easy to do.
  15. I am going to throw the weird one into the mix for you, as long as you have the same names/amount of partitions/drive letters on your new server, Windows Admin Centre has a File Server Migration Tool. I used it 3 years ago with great success. It runs an initial sync and then an update sync when you say, and then it will take the name of your current server, all the share names and permissions and the IP Address and configure the new server to that and rename and re-IP the old one for you. Worked very very well. I have Windows Admin Centre installed on it's own VM for this and easily seeing information on my Hyper-V cluster etc
  16. OK, I am putting this here, to help with clarification on FMS terminology used in a recent meeting: FMS6 Connected/Hosted - They want to move everyone to hosted FMS6 by the end of the calendar year, they will refer to this as FMS6 "New" FMS (The one that has the cloud front end) - This is being called just FMS in talks, which is where a lot of confusion is happening. On the plus side, there is a way of just making accounts in SIMS ID without the need for SIMS .net, managed in The Cloud Having getting quotes from competitors, and still being beholden to what the central LEA Finance team will support (the MIS Support arm will support anything in their framework but the Finance team will all support 3 Finance Systems), FMS is the cheapest option (that we were quoted for) that supports Double Line Book keeping, which is where some cheaper ones, such as one competitor only does Single Line Book Keeping, which is something to do with Creditor and Debtor lines, which I don't quite understand myself but is a big thing
  17. if you can do it, try "perfmon /rel" in the run box as the user getting the closes, it will tell you if there are any actual crashes or failures
  18. PS/2 is actually quite sort after in gaming motherboards now. As PS/2 works through interrupts rather than polling so in theory is more responsive
  19. I have to say, I appreciate the Torx screw for securing to the metal mount, over the usual bit of plastic with the normal tool
  20. oh and while you are testing it you can set it to just one OU in Google Workspace, which makes it easier. It will not do SAML SSO for Google Admins though, as a safety feature in case there is an issue
  21. So I have AD so the sync to Google using the installed GCDS version on the server, that works just fine. I then setup the SAML stuff here - https://docs.cloud.google.com/architecture/identity/federating-gcp-with-azure-ad-configuring-provisioning-and-single-sign-on#configure_microsoft_entra_id_for_single_sign-on This way you don't need to Google IdP on workstations for logging in, as it just isn't needed. And where everyone uses outlook for email, even students, the SAML Cookie is kept on the chromebooks they use that automatically logs them into M365. That way I have full domain login here, with all the control of GPO etc while there is a SSO for Google, you just need to enter you email address and it goes, is this you and you click OK on windows machines
  22. I have not done this, as not needed to, you may be able to do it with symbolic links or the like, or you have to set it when you open logic 12, but I would also look at what happens when you reinstall the mac with the latest OS from scratch and see what happens to the storage.
  23. webhooks is on my list too, but it seems you need Power automate premium for that feature, which only our deputy head has at the moment
  24. IIRC, and you may need to look at how you set this up, you can now have your Logic Loops on a network share and tell it to use that instead of putting it locally, but I haven't done this, as our iMacs haven't complained with their 512gb storage
