Quite interested in this one, as I am pretty sure I do not have it enabled at all. (Windows Search Service feature is not even installed) I would be interested to see if people do have it installed and running on their file servers.

Welcome to Edugeek @Harlington LTSB is an option, many people use it because they don't want cortana or the windows store anywhere near the machine, but with this you do sacrifice a lot of the bells and whistles (and Microsoft Edge too) Personally I would invest some time in setting up MDT (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit) with WDS deploying out the boot image. I have set up MDT here and have it deploying all the applications separately (as an application group), you do need to know all the silent/quiet no interaction switches for your software setups. The reason I spent the time in investing in this is because I can just import drivers in MDT and it will install them as part of the initial push, and it means that if I ever want to deploy a new OS, I can just change the OS image (from the installation media) available in MDT and start building form there. You can go down the route of "Fat Images" and deploy it that way with the drivers but I find that you end up constantly having to make the images again when you get a lot of new software. As for what version of windows 10, that is up to you, try Education/Enterprise to begin with and see if you can get it working the way you want, as you will get all the cool bits like paint 3d etc but it purely comes down to what works best for your school. I am currently using LTSB as a middle step myself, getting it all working there and people using that, and then my next roll-out will be Edu/Ent which Is less of a shock to most people then going straight there

My setup with RDP is this. LA has DMZ port on router, this goes into a Web Application Proxy (WAP) Server (there is an ADFS server backend for this as well) RDP server publishes with a 443 gateway and web gateway WAP server publishes the RDP web server to the outside world over 443. Staff have the Web gateway shortcuts (automatically updated) in their start menus and can access on other machines through the web gateway. The total cost of this is about £120 a year on a wildcard certificate we use.

I seems to remeber something similar with failed to this, I ended up going into the volume which there is a link to is in Program Files .... System Centre 2012...... DPM......Volumes etc (this was DPM 2012 r2) Once I found the volume i delete the log files for failed files and it worked again, it may be something very similar just with the clean up logs. this may be the case, but it is a long shot. I also found the ending task on the explorer process in task manager and then telling it to run as administrator when starting it up again in task manager helps with the navigation to the volumes

Well I have successfully made it to Waterloo 40 mins early.

I have the 10:50 train from London Waterloo so should be at Salisbury station for 12:20pm :-) I am on the 17:47 back, so hopefully will have a chance to have a nose around in Salisbury this time :-)

Too late for us to setup for this year's process but we will need to get it in for next year. Must make a note of that.

I've had two occurrences of this, just marked them as known, since they are unifi APs. Everything is up to date, just shrugged it off as an oddity. Was more fun while I was installed and all the rogue APs and SSIDs from Meru's "Virtual Cell" architecture, where it gives every client its on BSSID for allowing the controller to move the connection rather than the client.

I was going to say, there was a nice flurry yesterday morning, but by midday the rain had come and taken it all away, and today is just plain miserable.

there is an exe called displayswitch.exe which you can run with the switch /clone so you can create a login script and/or a shortcut that runs displayswitch.exe /clone and this will do it for you :-)

I have recently been pulling out aging Meru kit in place for Unifi Pro ACs, The performance of these have been great. We have almost 1000 laptops and 60 ipads and 50 Chromebooks, there is always around 600 full domain laptops on and working at any one time, ipads as and when and the chromebooks are pretty heavily used. I would say they were really easy to setup myself and has been great to us so far.

I am back on Zelda: BOTW but I am not rushing this time, I am going to try and get all of the shrines, labyrinths armour, the lot, I am just zig zagging over the map

Yup, we have CAT6 to all ports :-) Gbit connection to the AP, but there are rack mounted 24 port POE Injectors, so I am looking at POE+ Switches with the upgrade Luckily there is fibre to each cab which is connected to SFP modules on the switches with what I believe is a miniGBIC module in the port

I have a 200mbps internet connection, which we usually peak at 120mbps at times. Logon times are not too bad, as the slowest part it the Group Policy Printers Policy, profiles are local. Year 9-11 have individually assigned laptops, so login in the morning and then keep on going. Shared laptops can take up to 2 minutes to logon if the profiles have been cleared. In this deployment I have actually got a documented decrease of 20-30 tickets a day for two certain areas to 2-5 tickets (usually due to kids switching the WiFi switch off on the laptop and not being able to turn it back on, thank you windows 10 there) This thread was about switches and whether I need to up the priority of replacing them, but at the moment I do not see that. Thank you for all the advice though, it does marry up with what I have been saying for a while

@AlanD This has been like this for just over 7 Years, and yes were were an N network, but I have been upgrading to AC. Most of the cards are 2x2 cards and already AC compatible, there are about 200 clients that are bgn only at 2.4ghz. These are mostly full windows logons with a splattering of chromebooks and iPads, we just do not have the space to facilitate ICT suites. It is working for us, it has been a long post BSF process but it is working.

That'll make my 16 PC users more happy then ;-) The rest of my clients (and I mean a good 1,100 if not slightly more) are all wireless, so that is what I have been sorting out first.

I am afraid you can only have your a2c keys installed on one machine, so if you go onto a laptop that will me the machine that has to do the synchronisation all the time.
