I can confirm that I am using that card on windows 7 with unifi without any issues.

@VeryPC_Colin_M did myself a very good price on intel AC cards that support 5ghz as well as 2.4 a few years ago when I had problems with ralink cards that caused issues in HP probook 4340s's. He may be able to help you out with some new one to replace what you have. If you have the latest intel drivers on the machines already you may just be able to get away with swapping the cards

Just to check, when you go into the network adapters driver properties, in the advanced tab is U-APSD or something similar disabled? I know this is disabled by default in windows 10 on those cards (we have them and have them working with Unifi) but it may be enabled on windows 7 and I know that can cause issues

Yes i do :-) I really didn't want to push for this financial year, but popped the upgrade in next years capital plan, as the Unifi equipment actually seems to be very good value for money

Exactly what I was thinking, the only thing is there are not warranty service agreements and under BSF it was more "cost effective" to not have maintenance on stuff and just have a couple of spares kicking around, which of course never came into the schools after the contract was pulled. That is the only thing that is bugging me, but I have looked and I need 6 48 port POE switches, a 16 port core and one 24 port POE to replace the lot, which isn't too bad.

Long story shortened with this one. BSF School - Although BSF ICT Contract has been scrapped for years. Currently CISCO switches throughout, quite a lot are 10/100 switches to most ports (most of them are not in use) and then Gig switches to Wireless, admin staff (the only 16 PCs we have in the school) with a 1Gbps fibre backbone. Server have been replaced with HyperV Hosts which have a teamed 4Gbps connection to the core switch. My backbone utilisation never really peaks over 20%, most of the time they are around the 7% mark. With that in mind, do I need to upgrade, the other local BSF schools scrapped their Cisco equipment and gone with HP and upped their backbones and server connections to 10Gbps but since we are not really utilising what we have, do I need to do it? At the moment I am part way through replacing the wireless network (currently a Meru network with AP320s) to the Unifi AC Pro access points and that is making a different to all of our clients (everyone is wireless except the admin staff and VOIP phones) It is that weird one, but is there any point in rushing a change of switches?

Just a little thought. The laptops don't have bluetooth switched on as well do they? I remember having issues with 2.4ghz cards when BT is turned on. I also had issues once of an erroneous machine startup batch file, it kept on running itself, so not high traffic but high latency because of lots of requests going through. The only way to see them was with Wireshark on the wireless network connected to the same AP as the Laptops

RasPi model 3 with retroPi and some cheap Ps3 wired controllers is what you need ;-)

Sorry late to the conversation. We actually have a hybrid of the 2 here. So there is a raid for SSDs (mirrored) and a raid 5 with some 4tb disks. These are hardware controlled raids, then in server 2012 r2 we used powershell to declare the SSD RAID as SSD and then Storage spaced them together. The reason, basically one big RAID SSHD, to which Storage spaces makes sure the most active blocks (and yes it is at block level) are on the SSDs and all that lovely archived, not really used stuff is on the HDDs, but they are still higher performance HDDs not commercial ones.

I know it shouldn't affect it but can you try shorter path names without spaces, I had a few issues there before, very rarely though. A useful thing is that MDT mounts the deployment share as the z: drive, sometimes it is worth declaring the path as z:\applications\...... Personally, I tend to make little batch files and run them with the command in pointed to the z: drive and then I can mount and test those work on a regular machine and then test them in an MDT task sequence. I hope that makes sense
