Hi all, The DPO wants to separate student and staff email addresses in the GAL. I understand I can create a new Address List for each, but the GAL will still show all users in all address lists. I could create a new GAL with just staff, but this will completely remove students from it. Is there a way to cleanly do this? Thanks

It's been raised as a concern because students are able to search for things like 'How to make a bomb'. Do you allow or block youtube for students? Thanks

Student files going missing or reverting back to old versions

No single file server with shares. No replication to anywhere. -

Thanks for your feedback. I don't think it relates to the issue we have as students are confident they are saving in their H drives only and the data is recoverable on DPM. -
Student files going missing or reverting back to old versions

That's a good suggestion. I will look into that. We have both redirected file server for My Documents and OneDrive. -
Hi all, We've had this issue for a few weeks now. Streams of students are coming to IT because some of their files have either gone missing, or have reverted to old versions so some work is missing within the document. We use DPM to backup our student files, so we are able to restore them but we need to figure out why this is happening. Example of a file which reverted its changes: Ticket logged 08/10 for a file with missing pages. Student states the document was last modified 04/10. My Documents shows the file was last modified 20/09. Checking DPM backup on 08/10 (same morning issue was reported) the document version was last modified 04/10 with all the missing pages in the document. It appears the document that morning reverted back to a previous version. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Thanks

Access to Python, PHP, MySQL for students
Nausing replied to Nausing's topic in How do you do....it?
That's really helpful info thanks. Our student PCs are pentium with 4GB RAM and normal HDDs. Not sure a VM will work very well with those specs! I'll speak to the curriculum leader about they expectations next year. -

Interesting. Does it not cause an issue having several instances of VirtualBox accessing the same VHD file at once? What are you planning to do next year now you need internet access? -
Access to Python, PHP, MySQL for students

Interesting setup. Did you follow a guide or have any resources to point me in the right direction? I assume the student loads VirtualBox after they log into the lab PC and it has a restricted view so they can only run the single VM and nothing else. Where does the vhd sit? Thanks -
Hi all, Our ICT teachers are requesting a number of applications for students to access next year in IT Suites, including Python, MySQL and PHP tools. I'm concerned giving students access to a Python console could allow them to tinker and cause damage. I'm also not sure how to offer MySQL access as I believe this needs to run as a service on the device? When I was in college we had a lab with two desktops per student, one on the domain and other off the domain with these tools installed. How do you manage these applications? Thanks

Not sure we qualify for K-12 licensing. We are a Sixth Form College

I prefer device license as it prevents having to create student Adobe ID accounts and dealing with the hassle of password resets and students having to log into their account after looking into the device. Device license required minimum 25 order.

I'm just going by the Adobe website, I haven't spoken to resellers yet. - - - Updated - - - Thanks. Haven't used this company before but the site looks shady. Doesn't give much detail when you click for details lol

We need to license over 100 devices used in various classroom and labs. Adobe now charge £278 per device per year for device licenses. Does anyone know of a scheme or method to reduce this cost? Thanks
