    Under windows 8 and 10 I've not been able to restrict a users access to the wifi? but to have both the hotspot and the domain wifi on at the same time you could purchase a usb wifi dongle too allow both connections at once.

Fast as all hell, and just does the job. cable mapping, link breaks and distance(for each wire) and live warnings! This will only test the cable not the network. (so not dhcp etc.)

    I need a budget server that can accommodate 6+ hard drives to run a windows share. I already have the drives. CPU and RAM don't matter (as long as it can run server 2016) This is only going to be a share target for another server. I'll use the server tools to create a software raid. I'll probably run an £30 SSD or 2 for the OS. the old ml150s could do this but the new ones are too small and don't have the sata/power connections. otherwise I might look at a sinology box but I don't like proprietary systems (when things go wrong, a windows box can be troubleshooted).

    it was 115000 speed, re-seated all harddisks in order 0-0 to 0-4 (5 disks) and it came back... now, shame the server is upset!

    My old as heck fujitsu SAN which without warning and no error lights. (except all drives are amber) isn't working. I can't find the web interface (I assume it's not working) I've got the serial lead connected and am using putty (serial 9600) but the output is garbled (but responds). UT8 is already selected, would the wrong serial speed do this? I can't find a manual for the sx60 that tells me the serial settings.. Single controller of a decade old san...

    Has anyone made a custom report(s) that will work with the Microsoft SDS toolkit and create properly formatted CSV exports for it/ it'd save me some work This might be a half term project otherwise..

    can't you program the microbits over Bluetooth on phones.. Can you do this on PC? (get some Bluetooth dongles or use laptops)

    if you want it on a timer you can always push a scheduled task via group policy to your PCs.

    £50 cpu with weedy Vega3 graphics (still beats intel) a cheapo A350 board for also £50 but then £74 for 8GB RAM really makes modern PCs a bad deal... The real shame is that the faster and better the RAM (esp. dual channel) can really lift the Vega Graphics. This could be a 720p champ with the right RAM. Still surprised that SSDs are cheap again.480gb for £65! nice.

    What's kind of funny is that since office 2007 Word docs use the Open XML format (open source) docx unlike PDF which I believe to be proprietary. Goverment should be pushing for an open format.

    You can get the adobe K-12 pack (which includes Premier Pro) for £22 / year / device if you buy 25 (the minimum) so £550ish a year. I like the Serif Products but they don't make them anymore.

    The download folder should be about 2.97GB big, make sure it's all there. 3 tries to get this right for me (it stuck twice at 400 and 440) 1 really big "stream.x64.x-none.dat" file at 2.2Gb! any stupid issue with the xml might leave you at 40kb... here is my latest working xml

    The installer seems todo something then nothing, taking up 100% cpu but has yet to install even an office 19 folder.... edit: now does nothing... Changed XML to display full.. Starts and stops with no message This truly sucks.. 2 hours for a single install still haven't got it yet.. OH and no office config tool..

    Chrome has huge share because they include it on all android devices (so a billion Chinese users on portable devices) hardly a worth while comparison. Office 2019 doesn't (as far as I can tell) have an office customisation tool the NEW online one (for click to run) doesn't list it. on top of the ODT xml is it isn't it nonsense. I wonder if I have to sysprep this version of office:( More unknowns for the sake of M$...

    we use direct access with local profiles. simple, fast and seamless.

    yeap, changing the language worked. I used matchOS as I don't want the us dictionary to be the default proofing tool. EDIT: I re-did the download portion its now 400MB and counting.

    net ok mapped the drive (ncie idea) now the setup /configure pauses for a while and does nothing?

    ok I've done the download command but the download is only 40kb big with no errors... The next step seems cryptic but basically I have to locally install the ODT program onto each client and point to the server share?! as it refuses to run from the cmd line using a unc path...

    I was looking forward to a LTSC 2019, Edge and office 2019 setup but it seems I'm mistaken... I wanted a no frills static windows with the edge browser (as it mostly follows ie11 queues) and an office that would last 3 plus years.. The LTSC is crippled, No edge and you can't have it, office 2019 has a new cryptic run, install, deploy.. I don't have federated services or SCCM, I don't have the resources to implement and learn these tools. I don't want gotyas every 6 months because M$ decided that 5 billion users are doing it wrong.
