3s-gtech this is the point, I'm using 2013 at the moment and spending the time with 2016 only to switch in a moment to 2019 seems like a pain. we have access to office 365 but am not familiar with the 365 client. What is involved? (not federated)

I'm looking to deploy Windows 10 in the summer from our "Win8 office 2013" builds. It's somewhat irksome that I'm going to be putting office 2016 on the image. The 1803 edu 10 build now being tested and built will probably include 2016 but really I want 2019 as we're so close to its release. It's not that I can or wouldn't change the office product when it arrives but a matter of "training". I like to introduce a new OS with a new Office and keep it that way as many users can't differentiate the two. Previously it was Win7 and office 2010, then win8 2013, now win10 office 20?? probably should have done it a few years back

A pupils name was incorrect in Active Directory so it was updated but the change won't carry over to office 365? I'm aware of the ball ache of altering a users upn should it be wrong (adconnect) but a simple field like user name.. COME ON! anyhow how do I change this I'm too annoyed to try and ask the right question to google. cheers I should change it's name to adsyncONCE AND ONLY ONCE!

if the secondary DC was up to date it may now have to fight with the restored out of date PDC, you should have left the PDC dead and built a new one. The secondary DC should have kept you going just fine. EDIT: I'd recommend you turn the restored PDC off and see the secondary domain controller stays happy. the SDC should have the up to date active directory database, the DNS and group policy settings. I suspect your really just missing a DHCP host at that point.

Any PC with 2 or more NICs could be used as a router.. You could use Windows Server or go Linux DD-WRT .

I'd not go the surface route, too top heavy, expensive with no ports. Go with a business class laptop from HP, Lenovo, etc. I'm using HP laptops these work well with their respective docking stations, which are the key. The docking station can be plugged into power, wired networking, audio and projectors. The dock is always the same but various classrooms have different devices, having a dock there means that we can configure the dock for the room. e.g vga or hdmi projector, interactive. The docks can also be setup in and office with a second monitor and full size keyboard and mouse sometimes a local printer. Using the HP dock in my case means that the dock works across several generations of laptops.

Windows tablets are just Laptops without Keyboards. Laptops are THE way to go. Most American schools that went the 1:1 ipad route failed hard (and expensively) A Windows laptop can be had for sub £200 now why not go full Windows 1:1. Laptops have a built in stand, (the keyboard base) tablet wont, a keyboard (durr) a tablet wont. click bait! I recently discovered that you can cram normal laptop drives into the SAS slots on my ml350 G6 server. So today I jammed 5 low spec kingfast ssds in to it and setup a raid 0 1300MB read speed means I blow away the sata speed hump! I may use this as a basis for a 2nd backup on the system. woohoo!

nope, create the "PolicyDefinitions" folder plop in the adml files and their language packs blah, next time you use group policy editor you'll see settings for the new windows, you can also put office adml's in here. I use windows 8.1 to manage windows 10 PCs just fine. thanks to central store.

Providing the monitors support it, you can use that single dp 1.4 (I said 1.3 earlier, mistake) in daisy chain to drive both monitors. The gt1030s come in various configs, mine came with dp1.4 and hdmi2.0. MSI NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 2G LP OC 2Gb

the GT 1030 has a display port 1.3 (so 4k 120hz or daisy chain 2 at 60) and dual link dvi. no external power requirement and the new more rubbish ddr4 version only needs 20 watts (so those annoying hp PCs can use it.)

OK, in an effort to (further) my health, I bought a gadget the Fitbit 2 Charge. but that's not the story I want to tell. The fitbit app to apple healthkit.. Ok so fitbit app setup great but No data goes to or from the apple health kit. You can't, too bad, tough poo. Sooo heres how (I think) I've made it work. I installed MyFitnessPal app, I linked it to the fitbit app job done.... nope.. ok, so now I setup my gyms Technogym software "MyWellness" the Mywellness app links to both to the apple healthkit and after setup it talks to the MyFitnessPal app. So somewhere in that app chain the data should flow! Ahh so simple. to be fair the MyFitnessPal has the best food diary and scanner and the MyWellness tracks the gym equiptment so it's not all bad. I worry that I'm double dipping the data as the fitbitstrap will measure the workout as well as the gym equipment.

A slight detour here but do you get intune for free? I don't seem to have it in my o365 portal?

err, as the bios says 1 of your hard disks is about to fail! The speed and reliability issues are bound to be related to that drive not a lack of RAM! Replace the original RAM and get to fixing your HDD array! STAT!

Spinrite on level 2 only asks the drive to sequentially read the drive and if the drive spots errors spinrite kicks in. Level 4 is the heavy read, write invert, read, write invert again. Spinrite will also let you know if the drive shouldn't be run as it close to hardware failure.

I'd like to offer a different approach to the guest wifi problem. I purchased cheapo broadband for about £127 installed and annual cost. I then put this on a separate guest vlan without routing (separate ssid as well). This in effect gave me a second network that I can bung guests onto without security or bandwidth headaches. It also useful for troubleshooting remote connection issues etc.

just done a fresh install of this and it didn't have a kms client key? I had to manually add one and activate?
