This sound like a bad idea. I don't think a read only desktop is a supported option. (although there is a hide and deny icons desktop gpo)

I might add that Windows 7, 8 and 10 can natively create zip files. "right click, send to compressed folder" EDIT: (and of course open them)

Has the DHCP server got the "always dynamically update DNS records" turned on? or are you getting the clients to do it.

You can grant users (I have a staff security group) the "Manage Documents" from the security tab. Then any teacher or admin staff can delete stuck jobs. (but if its a awaiting pin stuck job they'll need to reset the spooler anyhow so poo)

is ANY event log triggered when a job gets stuck? if it is you could trigger a scheduled task to reset the spooler service. (also I think restarting the print spooler twice will automatically clear all pending prints) or a script to stop the spool, delete the spool folder contents and restart.

Yes, I'm using 2nd gen laptops and PCs and they can. You'll need the intel audio driver (make sure you use the intel display drivers not the auto windows drivers) Did you get an active or passive adaptor?, I use active to cover my bases and the price is similar but my Epson projectors won't do the sound with the "cablematters" adaptors (but they work fine elsewhere) but the "rankie " adaptors work fine. if you look at the display port output the symbol will have the letters "dp" on it if it also has a ++ so "dp++" then it can use a passive adaptor.

Just a shout out to an amazing understated feature, I didn't even know existed... if you upload a video to "stream" it will listen to the audio and create an (editable) transcript of the audio. It will even produce time stamps and make them searchable within o365.. What an amazing feature.. The voice recondition isn't perfect but is good enough. We currently still host an excel document that is the whole school calendar, this is because SIMS isn't accessible at home (for all staff) and not all staff have outlook. Is there a O365 solution like a shared mailbox calendar? something that we could paste that excel doc into would be sweet.

We just standardised by using Powerpoint works on all IWB can easily be edited etc. Annotation tools during a powerpoint or even making blank powerpoint on which to annotate.

I had a pupil today who was over their quota limit but I couldn't find any large files. I did however now find out that their recycle bin (recycle file?!) was full and they couldn't empty it (as in no mechanisim). I have now recycled on the server but have I made a setup mistake with the pupil folders?

yes, nice to have those DNS records fixed but I can't imagine they'd affect your email. What you need is a copy of those spam bounced emails (either from the recipient or a reply to sender) Then you can look at the properties of the email and read the internet headers (a log file of where and why) a spam entry will be there with a reason.

Yes, a hardtail is better for everything but downhill. Mechanical Disc Brakes on a £220 bike, that is amazing. I haven't looked at bikes in ages... I have hydraulic and they are amazing but I heard that cable discs were getting really close. Both way better than V or calliper!

I have a fluke Linkrunner the 2011 version. it was left over from when we ran cisco. it can get an ip address (dhcp) and ping it. But for most cable diagnostics I prefer my Fluke 620 LAN cablemeter.

spinrite can run on flash media and has fixed it. As it works on sectors it won't care if it's encrypted. if you have a copy give it a go.
