We have one of these, I plugged in a laptop running Minecraft education and the pupils used it like a giant ipad! (it goes in to touch control mode!) 6 kids trying to play as 1 person..

what about a dell vrtx, not sure on sound but its a single plug solution for an office. A really compact blade system. EDIT: this bad boy is only £2k at the moment https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dell-PowerEdge-VRTX-Rackmount-2-x-M520P-Blades-25-x-600GB-SAS-10K-HDD/113409772059?hash=item1a67bfca1b:g:hr0AAOSwXedb~~us:rk:14:pf:0

You can get Steinberg Cubase Elements 9.5 for as little as £36 (if you buy 25) https://new.steinberg.net/cubase/

yeap, you need o365 license to fully use the apps. if you're a school, (with or without an ees agreement) I believe you can apply for an office 365 tenant. You'd really want this setup before you start issuing credentials though. (like setting up your schools domain name, so no an "onmicrosoft.school.o365.com" address. it's been ages since I applied. You used to have to have an agreement but not anymore, I think you don't even need to manage it if you don't wish (I know nothing about this route though)

In user/admintemplates/system/removablestorageaccess/ you could make a custom device class for SDCards and have a disallow on write access. So they can't delete but also cant place important documents onto the card. I've never set a custom class so this may be tricky. EDIT: reading more closely I see you have a bitlocker rule in place, I though you could still use non-bitlocker devices to read but no write with a policy in place. The above may help in some scenario.

being daft but does LTSC have the enterprise features? I couldn't get direct access to work, so I assumed it did not. Custom start would be another feature.

So a more light touch like "workplace join". I've never used either.

I had my techie quit after 8 hours trying to silently get the AMD drivers to install. I made him do it by hand.. it took 2 hours

Simplify Windows computer logins for elementary students
chazzy2501 replied to oliphanj's topic in Windows
was windows multipoint server made for this? -
I have root access to the vcentre server in the command window. I was going to get them to remote in and show me how to regain control of the blooming thing as it refuses all credentials. (except root in the command window) I wanted to list the local users via the shell and got the "localaccounts.user.list" command but it says command unknown when used.

Windows updates not been applied since 2017
chazzy2501 replied to chekmate1984's topic in Windows 10
if you use SCCM then that has taken place of your wsus, or should I say don't try an use wsus directly. I gave ip on SCCM as I couldn't phantom how you SCCM to distribute updates. etc. The product is too large and complex to just start using. -
purchase the servers and storage with a 5 year warranty, then you can price it out as an annual cost over 5 years. (it looks far more reasonable that way.)

Ok in a different thread I was, am having trouble with my Vcentre server so I gave up and now want technical support from VMware... Yay! After logging in and trying to discern what magical combo of clicks will elicit a helpdesk button or number. I get to a page support page that shows nothing but has an KB article telling me how to troubleshoot the reasons why you have no supportable products listed. (rather than showing your product and saying unsupported next to it, it shows no products, clear thanks.) Ok now I'm KBing my way through the technical support guide to why technical support doesn't work..... 1 I do have support, I'm looking at t he receipt till next year, 2 I'm the super user and the account numbers are the same. 3 buy more technical support??!?! Great now I can't remediate VMware technical support is there a technical support for the technical support of course not. I can BUY technical support....So I can buy a technical support query to fix my technical support issues I've paid for... This is fantastic, great job VMware, just Great.

I'm sure there is a group policy setting that says wait for the network, I used to have issues with non-portfast Dlink switches.. EDIT: I think the policy is "Change Group Policy processing to run asynchronously when a slow network is detected," OPTION: 2 - If the policy setting "Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon" is enabled. I think this is the policy that helped me. (back in Vista Days) EDIT2 : I think you can delay how long group policy waits to process the GPO default is 30 seconds.. (i'd be surprised if your laptops were that slow)

Can't login into my vcenter server appliance 6.5!
chazzy2501 replied to chazzy2501's topic in Enterprise Software
fyi I do have the root password, it won't accept that either?! I'm just going to make a new one but I have no idea what has gone wrong. I restored a backup from last month, it has the same issue??! I can see a domain change breaking the domain stuff, but what happened internally... Going through the installer again I can see why I chose these odd looking passwords, they have annoying requirements. -
Can't login into my vcenter server appliance 6.5!
chazzy2501 replied to chazzy2501's topic in Enterprise Software
When I try to use [email protected] is says that the credentials are invalid. When I try to login at the console it has beamvc: when I fail the first login attempt it states beamvc.dcc-sch-4505.local: I can't login to the VAMI it says unable to authenticate. I'm not sure if I have the wrong creds or it broken. -
Erk, for some reason it's stopped letting my domain accounts from logging in. I think it authenticates just fine but says the account does not have permission... So fine, troubleshooting away, log in using local account....poo.. I've got the password, I wrote it down but not the log in user! I'm unsure of the format.. The server is called "beamvc.dcc-sch-4505.local" so my login should be admin, administrator,[email protected] but it says invalid credentials?! should it be @vsphere.local still? I also tried the beamvc.dcc-sch-4505\username but that gets me an invalid as well. I tried logging on to the console using root but the password isn't accepted... I'll assume it's not the same as the default admin account.. I don't want to rebuild this blooming thing!

I'm looking at the future of classroom hook-ups. Right now we use HP Docking stations or nothing in the classrooms. These provide power and all of the rooms connections (ethernet, usb interactive, projector). The worry is that they only work with certain models of HP laptops and there is no support going forward. The promise of USB-C.. I'm not even sure on the standards are yet but I'm thinking that I can a USB-C port with Thunderbolt3 can Charge the laptop, have perfect video, and connect all of the sound, picture, interactive, etc. Devices on a single cable. Some questions, does having a lightening symbol next to the USB-C port mean that it can be charged via that port? is that the thunderbolt 3 symbol. I was looking at the HP Probook 640 G2, could I get a 100W USB-C dock and charge the laptop and provide all the rooms connectivity via the port? Has anyone done this yes? Going forward have every classroom geared with a single cable solution for power and connectivity, that would work with a variety PCs and Mac would be amazing.
