I have been asked to setup an msi for version 3.6.0. Thus far after unsuccessfully trying to find a temp .msi file when starting up the exe installer, as well not finding anything with 7zip, I used something else. I used a really old program called 'witem installer'. This makes an msi after you install the exe first. I had to edit the program installer path and add the shortcuts to start and desktop, plus when using the wizard, edit all the product info - mainly to 'na'. It creates a very large file though - 356,288 KB. I tested the msi manually and it ran fine, and have deployed it successfully to a test lab via GP.

Just to add - that was with version 4.2.6 - and that process did not work with 4.2.7!

Hi All I also had this job today and wasn't getting anywhere with a bat file. I could get it to install via GPO and also using PDQ Deploy. But to try and and work it through MDT with the msi via a bat file wasn't working. In the end I installed wItem installer, and then worked through the template and went into the current pivot installation on the pc and created an msi that way. I was able to add shortcuts into the msi as well. I then created a bat file to run silently with the new msi with "/passive /quiet" as parameters, and it worked fine.

I know i have tried a lot of things and i will collate and review these suggestions to ensure i have implemented them all. Thanks heaps for the input everyone.

Appreciate the thoughts ... and i have also tried to implement those. I have re-imaged a few since then and that is when they will pick up ALL GPO changes .. but even then the same problem persists.

I am considering testing a manual install to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks ... I will give that a try next week. I started the images with 1609- but since then I set up one with 1703 and i have had the the problem with both versions. At this site i haven't moved on to 1709 - unlike the other two sites I work at. With the 1609 version I had issues with the wifi full-stop - as they would just go offline and i had to reinstall the later wifi driver. But when i got to 1703 i had constructed my MDT differently, so that the laptops would get only the specific drivers for that make and model. With 1609 - just I had all my devices getting their drivers from a large pool. The issue is the same for all 100 of them irrespective of the version. Also any GPO's i set up to try things wont get picked up unless they are connected via cable - and they need dongles BTW - and logistically given my working conditions its a nightmare! I recently had to install some national testing software on them and that is when I picked up the issue that had been obviously going on on for ages. So programming Flash and Java updates was a waste of time for them. Plus our Arts teacher wanted some extra software to go on them. In the end i used PDQdeploy - but then I had to make sure all laptops were turned on as it was only the free version. Cheers :-B

Hi All ... I wasn't sure where to post this ... but i am having trouble with my ACER TMB 117's - all 100 of them - running Windows 10 ... not getting all the GPO stuff. I have emailed ACER support - and this is part of the email ... "On WiFi, when they boot up, you only see ‘computer settings’ and then they go straight to the login screen, and for a brief second, before you login, the Network symbol (bottom right in task bar) has an X – then it kicks in, connects to wifi and the login is always ok. From there they pick up all the settings as designated in User section of Group Policies. Therefore, they are not getting the group policies settings from the computer configuration section which ls includes installing software. But when you attach a Lan cable you get the usual network preamble like getting all the registry, printer settings, software deployment and they start installing all deployed software. The only time i get success is when I run the Network ID wizard and it works (most times) on the reboot (once) .. and if i re-image via MDT (with a cable of course!) I manually reinstalled the driver on one today, and it worked once only straight after - ensuing boot ups were unsuccessful! Hi everyone I manage Ipads in a school and teacher has asked me if her students can somehow connect to the student network shared folder. I thought maybe there was an app or two that could do it - probably paid. We manage our ipads through MDM and get apps from the VPP. Thanks

Ahh! In safe mode with cmd prompt - pressing Ctrl/Alt/Del got me back to the Task Menu - Switch User, Log off, Run Task Manager, Change Password etc -so eventually managed to get that account logged off and then into Administrator but that logging on actually took me back to the cmd prompt - but then I ran regedit from the command prompt - so got in and changed autologon from 1 to 0. I then rebooted and got the normal windows logon screen with both users - chose administrator and went and did the repair - all good. But rename option was probably a good way to go.I had worked on above before I saw your post. Thanks

Thanks - Yes -that got me into the command prompt - as ordinary safe mode still tried to load the corrupted profile account. But now not sure how to find my way in to sort out the corrupted profile. I don't need to enable the administrator account as that was done - its just getting windows to let me use that account to fix things and save the data! A reimage will work - but they will lose a lot of their stuff!

Thanks for that - I know of that procedure - I also know it can be worked through regedit but the problem is I get the profile error message as it boots up so I cant get into the OS to do anything. Unless there is another way.

I have a windows 7 x86 PC from a friend which has an autologin - but also has the administrator account enabled. I need to void the autologin to log in as administrator as i get a profile error message with the account associated with that autologin. I thought you can press the SHIFT key on boot-up to override the autologin, but its not working. Is there a particular way of doing this? Thanks
