  1. Job post summary Date posted: 15 September 2026 Pay: £40,955.00 per year Welcome to Roeadean Roedean is an extraordinary school on an extraordinary site – the girls play cricket and hockey with the sea’s blue in front of them and the green of the South Downs behind them, the Maths and Humanities classrooms have perhaps the best views of any in the country, and which other boarding houses have been likened to a boutique hotel? But it is not just the location, but the strong academic focus with a genuine belief in the importance of creativity and an all-round education that makes Roedean unique. This is an exciting time for Roedean which is marking the 141th anniversary of the foundation of the School, although it moved to its current site in 1898. Ever since its foundation, Roedean has been renowned for providing girls with an exceptional holistic education, and this certainly remains the case today: the girls excel in many fields, achieving excellent academic results, while also playing music beyond diploma level, debating in the Oxford Union finals, playing Netball in Sri Lanka, and throwing themselves into partnership work in the community and beyond. Students achieve Advanced 1 in Ballet, design and race their F24 electric car, exceptional artists can finish A Level Art in a year and then complete a certificated foundation year before applying for direct entry Art degrees, and over the last two years, two students have successfully solo swimming across the Channel to France. The School numbers around 400 students, and about half of that number are day girls, joined by boarders from over 40 countries. Roedean is clearly thriving and, in addition to the evident success in the Arts and particularly STEM subjects, as well as in many areas of school life beyond the curriculum, it is wonderful that the findings of our last three ISI Inspection reports in 2016, 2021, and 2025 all highlighted the excellence in Roedean provision and outcomes for students. Despite current pressures, it is clear that the School is in fine fettle, and where it will be in the coming years is an exciting prospect. Today, Roedean is determined to empower the girls to challenge themselves to realise their considerable potential; they are given the opportunity to grow up at their own pace, not constrained by finite expectations, and they have the freedom to develop their talents and passions. Roedean’s ethos is clearly focused on the remarkable benefits of a holistic approach to education, in which academic pursuits are complemented by a wide range of co-curricular activities, and the founding Lawrence sisters would be delighted with their legacy today. With over sixty activities on offer every week, the girls enjoy sea-swimming, international travel awards, Astronomy Club, a farm on the school site, the annual House Drama Festival, and our flood-lit all-weather pitch. Roedean girls excel in a range of sports, many musicians play beyond Grade 8 level, and two girls last year achieved RAD Advanced 2 in ballet – all such activities have their own intrinsic value, but they also have huge benefits for the girls’ academic endeavours. At Roedean, there can be no doubt that the girls’ rounded education ‘makes a considerable contribution to their personal development’ (ISI, March 2016), and it is precisely this which produces independent and creative young women who will make their mark in the world. In the same way that Roedean encourages the girls to pursue a variety of interests, we expect the staff to be committed to the busy life of this boarding school; it is wonderful when staff join the orchestra or play in the staff-student sports fixtures, and the girls love it when members of staff congratulate them on their role in the previous night’s play or the goal they scored in the fixture at the weekend. ROEDEAN’S CAMPUS AND FACILITIES Roedean is located on a beautiful 45-acre campus, and owns a further 75 acres of land adjacent to the site. It is the only school in the UK to be set within a National Park and on a coastline, as well as being in the boundaries of a vibrant city. The Grade II listed main building and Keswick House were designed by the leading Victorian architect and Roedean parent, Sir John Simpson, who also designed the original Wembley stadium. The main building incorporates the four main boarding houses, the dining rooms, the Library, and the teaching and administration spaces. Later additions include the Chapel, Science Laboratories, the Theatre and dance studios, the Music wing, Keswick House and Lawrence House. We also have an indoor swimming pool, a Sports Hall, which includes a multi-gym, and numerous playing fields to the front and side of the school. The School recently completed a £10 million modernisation of the five boarding houses, which includes the significant and sensitive redesign of almost 300 bedrooms, communal spaces, and private study areas for both boarding and day girls, and both Tatler and the Sunday Times drew close comparisons with the accommodation in high-end hotels. With a £1½ million refurbishment of the Sixth Form facilities, a small farm on site which opened in September 2016 with sheep, chickens, and pygmy goats, and a new all-weather flood-lit pitch at the heart of the School, Roedean certainly has wonderful facilities and buildings. A Library refurbishment promises to deliver outstanding study, research, and exhibition space within the School’s original school hall, further enhancing Roedean’s academic provision. We are also at the early planning stages for a Performing Arts complex, including a refurbishment of our 350-seater Theatre, which completed in September. Safeguarding The post holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy Statement at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the post the post holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School s/he must report any concerns to the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead or, if he/she is the School’s DSL, to the Head and relevant agencies. Roedean is committed to the safeguarding of children. In addition to normal pre-employment checks, this appointment will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and a safeguarding interview Roedean is an equal opportunity employer and we welcome the unique contributions that everyone can bring to Roedean in terms of education, opinions, culture, ethnicity, race, sex, gender identity and expressions, nation of origin, age, languages spoken, colour, religion, disability, sexual orientation and beliefs. How To Apply Applicants must complete the application pack and return it to our vacancies email or via post to Louisa Butler, Recruitment Manager, Roedean School, Roedean Way, Brighton, BN2 5RQ. 8. Good Afternoon, Yes we did sort of. We haven't managed to fix it centrally however on individual computers if you go into Device manager and open properties to the network adapter then go to Advanced. Turn off TCP Offloading and reboot. That fixes the problem in all of our cases so far. Kind regards, Max
  9. Evening All, I am hoping for some advice around setting up VLAN's as I am either being really dumb (most likely) or something isn't right. I have a Draytek 3900 router and a Aruba 2530 switch. Both reset to factory defaults for this testing. I am trying to setup 5 VLANS but for simplicity lets just start with 2 and I have disabled the others. VLAN 1 - ID: 10 - Default router vlan that it comes with, setup on 192.168.1.x range and has a DHCP VLAN 2 - ID: 200 - Created by me, It mimicks VLAN 1 in all settings other than its ip/subnet, its DHCP range and its id/name I have VLAN 10 set to Tagged Ethernet 1 and VLAN 200 set to Tagged SFP 1 on the Draytek On the Aruba Switch in simiplest setup I have: Port 46 Tagged VLAN 10 - This is a connection to Ethernet 1 on the Draytek Port 47 Untagged VLAN 10 Port 48 Untagged VLAN 200 Port 52 Tagged VLAN 200 - This is a connection SFP 1 on the Draytek If I plug my laptop into port 47 on the Aruba I get an IP in VLAN 10 and can contact the router and internet If I plug my laptop into port 48 I don't get any IP address. If I set a static in either the range of VLAN 10 or 200 I get nothing. The Switch has a management interface on both VLANS. I have also run the following commands on the Aruba: interface vlan 200 ip helper-address ip.of.router.on.vlan200 Can someone please advise as I am tearing my hair out with this one and cannot see what I am missing. Thanks in advance.

  15. Good Afternoon All, Wondering if some of you wonderful people could offer some further suggestions/insight into a problem that we are having and getting extremly frustrated on. On our Windows 1903 builds the computers are majority of the time saying they have no internet access when they clearly do as we can access everything. We ahve tried a number of things including: Adding the Microsoft NCSI urls to our filtering allow list Adding the named computer to filtering allow all group Bypassing the Filtering system all together Hosting our own NCSI internally Disabling Internet Probing via Group Policy Disabling IPv6 via Group Policy using registry changes Uninstalled AV/Firewall Installed Latest Updates Took it off domain We have had it working at times but cannot reliably get it working what works on one machine doesn't work on another. These include: Disabling IPv6 De-attaching from the domain and re-attaching This seems to be happening across the board of all new deployments since using 1903 and because of it when we are setting up Outlook for the first time using ADAL it fails to connect even with probing disabled. This is on different manufacture and models of computers and wasn't a problem in previous builds. It happens both on domain and off domain but only via LAN connection works perfectly on WIFI (part of the same LAN and its a flat network). We do also have a second network that is completly disjointed and goes straight out to the internet and it works on this network as well. We deploy via WDS/MDT and just testing another image. Kind Regards, Max
