  1. Does it have any iOS updates pending to be installed?
  2. The previous music teacher we had here, always said to us that Elements wasn't good enough for our Sixth Form students. So we always paid for the better version.
  3. I must admit, the first couple of weeks I tend to spend doing this. I'm happy to do it, but we seem to have that many departmental software subscriptions each year it seems to be taking longer and longer to do. Kerboodle, VocabExpress, ActiveLearn, ActiveTeach, MyMaths, Accelerated Reader, Library System etc. Most are manual jobs exported the info it requires in whatever wild and wacky format from SIMS and uploading from a .csv. There's only RealSmart, ClassCharts and Doddle, that have some sort of working MIS link which does it all automatically.
  4. Yeah, we get asked at least once per week for AV recommendations from staff and just point them at Windows Defender.
  5. Can you not just format the drive or are you specifically wanting encryption. @foofighterjim method will work if you need to continue them as encrypted.
  6. Two of our primaries use Printer Pro with Xerox machines and it works well. Theres a paid for and a free version of the app. Not sure of the top of my head is the difference between the two.
  7. I've just pushed out 2016 here over the summer and one of our supported primaries have been using 2016 since Easter. 3 more primaries to upgrade to 2016 probably October half term and one I can't persuade to move away from Office 2010 yet !
  8. You should just be able to rename the Printer and the allocation will remain as previous on the location.
  9. Always an early finish for us on a Friday - 3:30 I was gone.
  10. We use Iris and have both the larger type security camera and the Swivl with iPOD Touches. Our subscription is up at the back of this year and we are unsure about whether to renew or look at something else. I've heard good things about VEO Group
  11. We are another happy Classcharts user, although I would point out the biggest benefit is the behaviour management side and not just the seating plans.
  12. Seems a bit late in the day to be sending this off, ours went weeks ahead on a DVD to the moderator.
  13. They are trying to push schools to the cloud version if your using the self hosted - i've resisted up to now as the product does everything we need and works OK. I imagine eventually our hands will be forced.
  14. Ours moved straight into our CRB system via our MIS Link when added to the admission group with the status accepted. The join date is set to September. Ours also show as STAFF as they haven't been given a reg group yet which I imagine will change come September.
  15. Ours are the new model, not sure how much they are going to charge us to just update the firmware. Can't wait to find out.
  16. We will be pushing out Skype for Business as part of our Office365 setup here.
  17. A couple of our feeder primary schools which we have recently started to support have SQL 2012 SP3 pending in the Microsoft Updates. I know SQL 2012 is still supported for a while yet, but does anybody know if we are OK to install SP3. I've had a look on the Supportnet / My account pages and I couldn't see anything to say what SP was supported and whether it was save to do so. Thanks Andrew
  18. We couldn't get the cells to be blank with no text but coloured. So we wrote the colour in each cell i.e. Red, Green, Amber etc. Not sure if it's possible or not.
  19. Generally around the start of June, we get them added to SIMS etc in advance of their school transition visits which are happening now (one primary per day for 2 weeks) so they all have accounts on our cashless system etc as it's syncs automatically.
  20. We've got one bought through comms express I think, very happy with them. Well priced and good build quality.
  21. This is a list I put together before we moved. Pro Hopefully better IP management Better stats to monitor performance across pipe Better resilience on wider network Cheaper Costs for Broadband Cancellation of expensive Phone lines - moved to SIP 99.9% Promised Uptime Active Monitoring via CISCO router Possible additional bandwith £30k saving over 5 year contract Negative Unsure on the level and SLA times? Moving away from LA could have a negative impact on how we connect to schools in the future Websites restricted to EDU purposes only All staff will have to change their mail client IP at home Remote Desktop details will change if they are using the IP MX records for domain and mail to be transferred Host domains elsewhere Downtime Need to workout all public facing IP's and map them to the new addresses accordingly Video Conferencing facilities - no gatekeeper provided
  22. We get the CTF's from the primaries schools, but theres so many inconsistencies with the data provided - all in Uppercase, Random names in the contacts etc, that theres always a bit of tidying up to do based on the information provided by parents in a data collection exercise as part of the admission process when parents visit the school prior to the start of September. We also get them to complete additional forms for photo, internet, trip permission etc.
  23. I looked at Netgear when I was investigating both switches and wireless for last summer. The kit was OK, the people from Netgear were knowledgable, I just much preferred the cloud based kit in the end as I wanted to go controllerless, although I now think Netgear have a cloud based option now.
  24. I've signed my team up too http://www.lynda.com, content looks good and it comes with an initial trial to take a look first. Covers a wide range of Microsoft and non-Microsoft software. Can't remember the exact figure - possibly around £200 - £250 per person?
  25. I bought a Surface for us for use when we are supporting our feeder primary schools. All the information we need is stored within OneNote for each school, plus initially we were making so many notes on pieces of paper we were loosing track - now the notes are written directly into OneNote using the stylus. I managed to get a decent education bundle deal with the stylus and keyboard which wasn't much more expensive then a normal laptop.
