Hi All, We cannot make any external calls, but can receive calls absolutely fine. When dialling externally, we get an automated message of 'All circuits are currently busy. Please try again later'. This started happening about a week ago. I run the phone system through Elastix, based on Asterisk, and the trunk is configured as follows: So far I've tried: - Restarting the physical phone server - Removing and re-adding the trunk - Checking with the phone provider that the lines are working properly. If anyone can help or suggest anything, that would be much appreciated.

Hi, I'm hoping one of the smoothwall experts out there can help with a small problem we have. We just upgraded our internet access and previously had our email server straddling both the internal and external networks - two NICs one internal and one external. Our cisco router was then directly connected to our Smoothwall box and the external NIC of our email server, allowing email webclient access both internally and externally. I want to move our email server behind our Smoothwall box and just open up the necessary firewall ports on Smoothwall to allow external access to email. I've configured an external alias on Smoothwall, using a 2nd static ip from the range allocated, then set up port forwarding to forward http and https traffic onto our mail server's internal ip. Now when I try to access the mail server using the alias ip from outside of the network I get a 404 Not found. Looking at the access logs on the mail server, the external traffic is not getting through, and looking at the realtime firewall logs on the Smoothwall box I can see why - entries from my external ip (with strange port numbers - e.g. 31225) are being blocked, however the destination ip is the internal ip of our mail server and the port is correct (443). My question, finally, is why would an http request be hitting smoothwall with a strange port number, rather than 443 as one would expect, and why would the logs show the destination as the internal ip of our mail server, since the firewall rule is not being matched - hence the block. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious here - any help gratefully received.

Please could someone point me in the right direction? I have just set up exchange 2003 on a windows server 2003 machine. This is not one of my DC's. I have set up clients successfully - sharing calenders, global address lists, send/recv internal email etc....BUT, I would like to use exchange to host my external email. At school we have a domain (aylshamhigh.com) registered with Zen and I am aware that there are mx records (but know nothing more here) and that they can be changed. My understanding is that I need to change the MX record with Zen - but do not know what to, and also what changes do i need to make on my exchange server and where exactly - exchange systems manager, IIS, etc??? Finally if it helps, I do have a reverse proxy set up on the server for the purposes of ePortal (web based software) which I think is what I need for this issue? Any clues/suggestions will be much appreciated.

For those of you with staff laptops which are used both inside your LAN and taken home what are you currently using to deploy \ manage them? domain-joined gives the best internal experience but then needs a VPN to work smoothly externally. Azure AD Join is slick for Office 365 users and the lighter-touch management is more in keeping with the modern deployment methods MS seem to be pushing but really needs InTune to manage it in any meaningful way.

ok, We now have Yeovil College students attending our school. They're required to access their work remotely via RDP using a proper RDP gateway. I'm not a big fan of this idea and I actively block the RDP client from even running for pupils. As I understand it the RDP client can use SSL to connect as well as a dynamic port for RDP. How can I create a firewall rule that would allow the client to only connect to a single ip address? (incoming I could do as I'd know the port and the range to limit) What I need is a block all, except... can windows firewall do that? can I do it by DNS instead of ip? the gateway is "workspace.yeovil.ac.uk" is that all I'd need to unblock? not the final computer "studentdesktop.yeovil.ac.uk" cheers

Hi, Here at our primary school we are currently using a tape drive to back up our information but this is proving to be slow and we get intermittent errors with it. Even though this is a good enough backup solution we're looking at changing it to a more convenient hard drive backup solution. What would be recommended for this kind of thing? I was thinking some kind of multiple hard drive external HDD bay might do the job? Perhaps with 5 HDD's? Anyone know of a good solution to this without it being too expensive?

Hi all, We just signed up for Office 365 and noticed that Microsoft has increased the storage allowance to 1TB...which is insane...but anyway my main question to you is - Do you use Office 365 as your main storage system? If so, what are the pros and cons of both the management and security? Thanks

Hello Guys, We have recently purchased some WD My Passport external hard drives for staff to use, which are encrypted. We have tried to get this working on CC4 but the software will not open for Staff running from the drive itself. Is there a way to deploy the WD drive software, and has anyone achieved running these on a CC4 network? Logging on as a System Administrator, the drive opens fine because the software launches and asks for the password, but as a Staff or student user it wont even open the software. Any ideas? All ideas is greatly appreciated as always Cheers James

Hi, we've been using a traditional tape backup for ages here now but we're thinking of getting rid of that and buying 10 or so 500gb external hard disk drives and using them for backup. We've been advised by the company we use here for support that this would be a bad idea as they wouldn't be reliable enough. I get the feeling they're feeding me a line here but I just wanted to check. Our servers are all fairly new and the one we'll be running backup exec to do our backup to hard disk has USB 2.0 so speed is not an issue. Surely if we run the "verify" option on backup exec 10 it will check if the drive is knackered or not and we can replace the drive if it doesn't verify. Additionally we were really thinking of doing this as a large tape drive (200/400gb capacity - probably need more than that even really) is pretty expensive and the tapes seem to cost as much as a new 500gb hard drive... more in most cases! Thanks for any advice offered.
