Hi, So I just bought a new laptop 3 or 4 days ago I think. It runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. So its specs included a "1TB HDD" (500GB+500GB 7200RPM). Under the 'Computer' in Windows 7, it shows that there are 4 hard drives (or they could be separate partitions of the 2 hard drives for all I know), which add up the memory to around 950 or 900GB, which is agreeable. My issue here is, I've already used up the first C: drive completely, and now Windows is prompting me constantly to free up space so that I may continue storing data on it. But there are 3 free hard drives which I do not know how to make Windows use. It's brand new, so I doubt that it was because of something I did wrong. I will attach a picture to show what I mean more clearly. Thank you.

Hi All, Just a quick one .... We are about to replace all of the computers in our main IT room. At the moment we have some older Stone All-In-One PC's ... as these are pretty expensive to buy and I am trying to save money due to a very restricted budget we are getting conventional PCs, but are now in need of monitors. Traditionally we have always purchased hard glass screens to reduce damage but as these push the price up a bit we are looking at just normal soft TFT's. How many people have hard glass monitors or see the benefit in them? Those that don't have them, do you tend to see much damage? My concern is that because students/teachers are used to having hard glass monitors and know that touching them won't break them .. will they just presume and we accidentally end up with a load of damaged screens? Cheers Tom

We have just moved from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and staff are suddenly facing an issue whereby USB-powered 'Hard Disk Drives' do not show up in This PC, but small/typical USB sticks show up fine. In other words, small USB sticks work fine, but the big block USB drives do not appear. Administrators can see them all fine, but network users cannot. What policy could be blocking this? From Group Policy, we only hide/disable the C drive.

I have the SCSI drives to add to my array - I just need the fixing kits* that slot into the bays. Does anybody have any spare - or do you know if they can be purchased from DELL separately? Thanks, Ben *Dell WC966 Hot-Swap/pluggable hard drive sled/tray/Bracket for PowerEdge

Hi, we've been using a traditional tape backup for ages here now but we're thinking of getting rid of that and buying 10 or so 500gb external hard disk drives and using them for backup. We've been advised by the company we use here for support that this would be a bad idea as they wouldn't be reliable enough. I get the feeling they're feeding me a line here but I just wanted to check. Our servers are all fairly new and the one we'll be running backup exec to do our backup to hard disk has USB 2.0 so speed is not an issue. Surely if we run the "verify" option on backup exec 10 it will check if the drive is knackered or not and we can replace the drive if it doesn't verify. Additionally we were really thinking of doing this as a large tape drive (200/400gb capacity - probably need more than that even really) is pretty expensive and the tapes seem to cost as much as a new 500gb hard drive... more in most cases! Thanks for any advice offered.
