Hi everybody Mandriva Pulse 2 1.3.0 is out, and now allows disk imaging. The principle is quite similiar to CloneZilla and FOG Everything is controlled using a clean web interface. You might want to give it a try (it's a free and open-source product) I think the product is of great quality and needs to be advertised http://pulse2.mandriva.org

I've know of it for years but didn't feel I needed it. of course now that a drive on my SAN failed and the email alert failed I wished I'd spent the time setting one up. I assume I need some software (suggestions please) I'll need to set the devices (san, printers, switches) to use the server as the trap? Do I need something called MIB modules in order to use SNMP? Ideally I'd like the server software to email me on all warning and critical events...

Hi Guys, I am running a CC3 Network, I have created a standard RM Standard Disk, got it on the floppy and then booted to floppy, So, I choose to rebuild the entire station, enter in the station details, then it says: Found network card: Intel pro/100 ve network adapter Testing the network connection.... File not found: a:\lmhosts Initializing TCP/IP via DHCP...... Microsoft DOS TCP/IP 1.0a NET0132: Unable to find file: C:\Net\lmhosts Connection Failed. Press any key to reboot the machine and try again As anyone else had this problem or know how to fix this, I am very greatful, Thanks, James

We have just moved from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and staff are suddenly facing an issue whereby USB-powered 'Hard Disk Drives' do not show up in This PC, but small/typical USB sticks show up fine. In other words, small USB sticks work fine, but the big block USB drives do not appear. Administrators can see them all fine, but network users cannot. What policy could be blocking this? From Group Policy, we only hide/disable the C drive.

When look at the disk quota in notice a lot of entries stating "Account information unavailable" and instead of a user name you just get the SID, now i'm guessing these are users that have been deleted. How can i get rid of the files associated with these SID's? Please can someone help cause it's really doing my head in. Thanks in advance

Hi, I've recently found the cause to an problem of high CPU on my virtual servers here but not something I expected. The drives were all heavily fragmented causing high I/O and as a result affecting the CPU usage for extended periods of time. I've managed to defrag these and all's working much better now, however, I had all servers setup to schedule optimization so as far as I was aware this was happening in the background and no need to suspect the problem lay there. The last run column showed that optimization had never run but was advised by a 3rd party that this won't run on schedule until a manual run had been initiated first but see no instruction of this by Microsoft so I'm not convinced this was the issue. Navigating to 'Scheduled optimization > Change Settings > Choose Drives' I find that no drives are listed to select but the 'Select all' option is ticked. From what instructions on this area I can find, all disks should be shown in this list. I've checked my own workstation and this is the case but wonder whether this lack of listed disks is normal on a server or may it's this way because it's running on a virtualization infrastructure but the OS should be treating each drive as a separate disk regardless from my understanding!? Unticking the 'Select all' option doesn't then list the drives so at the moment I'm pretty sure this the reason the schedule isn't currently running.

Does anyone know if this is possible? For example I'm trying to assign, say, a 2GB quota to our media students and 1GB for others. I can't seem to find any references to Group based disk quota allocation. Any ideas? PS. We will be running on server 2008 or 2008 R2.
