    We've recently put Windows 10 on the network, but now we have this sudden issue with Google Chrome. When loading pages, especially big pages (and especially pages with lots of adverts, such as tabloid newspapers), the Chrome process hangs for 1-10 seconds, quite a number of times. So loading the Daily Mail homepage can take something like 40-50 seconds. This doesn't seem to be an issue on Firefox or other browsers. Is this an issue anybody else is experiencing? Is there anything to resolve it? I've used the Developer Tools and it seems Time To First Byte (TTFB) is taking all of the time, but it's not a networking issue since other domain machines behind the same internet connection can load the page almost instantly.

    Hi chazzy2501, thanks for the response. Yes we have created a user-based Regional Settings in group policy. On the first/main tab, the User Locale is set to 'English (United Kingdom)', with a solid green line at the bottom. The 'Location' field below is greyed out for some reason, and is defaulted to 'United States'. Not sure how we can enable this field to change it, or even whether it matters.

    We have just moved from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and staff are suddenly facing an issue whereby USB-powered 'Hard Disk Drives' do not show up in This PC, but small/typical USB sticks show up fine. In other words, small USB sticks work fine, but the big block USB drives do not appear. Administrators can see them all fine, but network users cannot. What policy could be blocking this? From Group Policy, we only hide/disable the C drive.

    Thank you for the reply, it's much appreciated...however, we need a solution that can be deployed via Group Policy or some form of AD mechanism. We have ~700 computers so cannot possibly attend to each machine.

    We are trying to set the default keyboard layout for network users (local accounts) to 'English (United Kingdom)'. This is set correctly on the system/login screen, but as soon as a user logs in the language is changed to 'English (United States)'. We've done the usual searching online and tried the various keys, such as 'Preset' and 'Geo\Nation', but nothing seems to actually have an effect. We have the correct timezone and locale, but somehow the keyboard just sticks to the United States. How are you all setting your keyboards to UK?

    Well, thank you all for the replies. I guess we will just have to embrace the Mixed Reality Portal, and Windows Store, etc. Maybe Microsoft forgot that schools and businesses exist.

    Apologies, but I have spent days searching the web for an answer. Every thread I come across either has no response, or gives a random, irrelevant answer such as completely uninstalling apps.

    We are creating a Windows 10 environment and we're trying to create a redirected start menu for students and staff. The redirection in Group Policy works fine (our custom shortcuts show up), but it seems it's impossible to remove some of the default apps, including: Alarms & Clock Calculator Camera Connect Cortana Microsoft Edge Microsoft Store Mixed Reality Portal My Office Paint 3D Photos Settings Voice Recorder Windows Defender Security Center The policy "Remove common program groups from Start Menu" is enforced, but this doesn't seem to help. Does anybody know how we can completely clear the app list in the Start Menu, so only our custom shortcuts show?

    Thanks for the response everybody! Yeah, as you all suggested, we went with outright disabling it on all domain machines.

    Does anybody know how to password protect the Startup Repair utility in Windows 7? I've tried Googling it but the links all talk about circumventing the password.

    Ah right, thanks for the correction. Like I said it's just something I was told recently by a member of staff.

    I've been told that Ofsted now want to adopt a 'block less, teach more' approach to web filtering. Websites such as Facebook shouldn't be blocked, but rather students should be taught how/when/where to use it.

    Hi Steve, Thanks very much for the response. We originally tried setting LoadBehaviour to 0, and then to 2 as you suggested, however neither seems to fix the issue. After logging in as a user with the amended mandatory profile, Excel still sticks on 0%. Is there another reference to this add-on in the user/computer hive that needs removing?

    Found the cause to be a buggy add-in (SMART Ink). We've tried disabling the add-in in the mandatory profile by removing the registry keys, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Does anybody know where the add-in list is stored in the registry? Is it in the user or computer hive?

    As gtg93 said, we simply disable the driver using a script.
