  1. Hi I work in a school and we have two networks curriculum domain and the admin domain. Untill today i've been able to just add the admin users to curriculum folder permission to allow them access. I've come back from holiday and admin staff no longer have access. I checked the sharing a security and instead of it saying "admin 13" it just has unknown account followed by the SID, I am however able to remote into the curriculum server from an admin machine. Is this an easy one to sort out? The curriculum server is running 2003 and the admin is running 2008 if that would make any difference. Any help would be great
  2. When look at the disk quota in notice a lot of entries stating "Account information unavailable" and instead of a user name you just get the SID, now i'm guessing these are users that have been deleted. How can i get rid of the files associated with these SID's? Please can someone help cause it's really doing my head in. Thanks in advance
  3. I need to reset to original factory settings doe anyone know how to this as i can't currently play anything on it with the beams
  4. Thank you all for your help turned out the firmware had become corrupt glad i know this for the future
  5. I'm having problems with one of our SMART boards (600 series) At first the board was no longer interactive, i checked the control panel and it said there where two SMART products connected but not working. So i ran the connection wizard and it the error message changed to no data received on this port. I've tried reinstalling the drivers but that didn't help either. I've ghosted the machine and this also hasn't helped. I've checked the device manager and there are no SMART products listed under USB ports. I read in another thread that you need to delete the Standard USB host controller but which one?? Can anyone help because i'm starting to look like an idiot.
  6. I could do but the image is old (my fault) which would mean quite a bit of work for me after. I can put it into another machine as a slave but i'm not sure what to do after that.
  7. Cheers still no joy
  8. Hi hoping someone else has had this problem. Had one of the machines go down first thing today, got the usual bluescreen telling you to reset. Booted up in safe mode and it hangs at mup.sys. Figured i'd just run the repair console but when i try to boot from the XP install disk it hangs at "inspecting your computers hardware" and then reboots?? Any ideas on what to do?
  9. It's has recently been decided that my school wants to lease computers and sadly this job has fallen to me. can anyone recomend any companies i have to get three quotes. Also what graphics card and processor should i go for will I3's do for special needs school some of the programs we use are fairly heavy on resources. I've also got to get laptops and two new servers. I've got a good idea of what i need but i really need to get this one right or my heads on the chopping block. Any advice would be a life saver. Thank you in advance
  10. Many thaks people once again edu geek saving me
  11. I know im gonna sound thick now but what the hell i'm learning! What does SL stand for??
  12. Is it possible to create printer quotas for individual users through AD? Got a teacher who is killing my consumables budget and no amount of telling them seems to matter, short of sitting there and watching the printer queue i'm not sure what else to do. I don't really want to have to pay for additional software (the purse strings are tight) can anyone suggest anything? Any help would be great
  13. Had to recreate the profiles in the end this seemed to solve it a bit crude though
  14. This problem seems to effect users randomly. I know that there are already post refering to this problem but nothing seems to work. I have managed to get rid of the white screen that displays the message by deleting the htt file on the users account. But when the user logs in now they get internet explorer cannot find html file active desktop. I know it's only a small thing but i change the image from the server each day and use it to display up and coming events at the school. Does anyone have an answer? Most answers seem to refer to the individual machine but i'm sure this is a problem with the profile being pulled from the server as we use roaming profiles. Sorry if i seem a bit thick and have not used all the correct terminology. Many thanks for any help
  15. I'm actually seeing more than i expected in the DNS
