I've setup ASM a few years back and used it happily with Intune (and previously Lightspeed) but have now been tasked of setting up ABM at a new place I am working at and wanted to just make sure what I had done in a previous life was the correct way or if things have moved on since. To my understanding you are best using ABM/ASM running tandem with a MDM solution like Intune, Lightspeed, etc to get the full functionality and management features on your Apple devices? I've seen people mention about using ABM/ASM on its own but my previous experience of this is that you don't get much in terms of control on the devices. Also off the back of this whenever I worked on MacOS or iOS devices with this setup we always had to wipe the device before putting it on the system so that it puts it in a 'supervised' mode otherwise you can't do much with the device. Is this actually the case still or can devices be enrolled with full control without having to wipe them? I'm making this post as more of a sounding board to make sure I'm not going mad and that I do understand the setup here but if any could correct me or confirm with me what I've got then that would be great. As always you are all amazing and I welcome any feedback or ideas

I We have old and new ipads in our school, all old ones are supervised with Apple Configurator 2 and controlled with Meraki. We are now trying to move forward with the new ones with Classroom and ASM. The 25 are all shared picked up our ASM and installed the apps from Meraki. The problem we are having now is that the restriction profile and ASM profile will not install on the ipads.

Hi All I recently updated the VPP token for apple school manager in intune as it had expired yesterday , since doing so all our apps from ASM has gone from intune and will not sync across. I have made sure our push cert is up to date and that the enrolment program token is also active, new devices sync across from ASM into intune just fine however all our apps have gone, tried running the sync manually once every half hour but to no avail, any help? T.I.A

Good afternoon all, Can the locations feature in ASM be used in anyway with Intune Endpoint Manager? i.e. Use a central ASM but create the locations, and then somehow assign the licences to the correct groups in Endpoint Manager/Intune. I can't see anything in Intune that links to the ASM individual locations. Thanks

Hi, I am hoping I can find some assistance with Apple School Manager and M365 Single Sign on. We currently have a single M365 tenant across the trust, but multiple Apple School Managers. Does anyone know if its possible to enable Single Sign On with multiple ASM's and 1 M365 tenant? My concern is that schools all use a single domain name across all sites, and didnt know how this would affect enabling single sign on. Chris

Hi, does anyone know how to force sync apps from ASM to Mosyle. Apps have been purchased but not showing in Mosyle. Thanks

Morning All I have recently federated our Azure AD and our Apple School Manager, allowing for users to sign in with their AD credentials, however when a user signs in it appears to ask them to set up a passcode, adding extra time to the sign in process, is there any way to disable this at all as I have looked in the Endpoint manager templates and turned off passcode adding and modification but still when a user signs in it still asks them to set one up, also it goes through the language selection setup process which I would like to disable as well... Any tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated Cheers

I have a Apple School Manager Apple ID logged into a non-DEP iPad running iPadOS v16. Everything seems fine apart from I cannot install any apps from the App Store - It says GET but it is greyed out (or light blued out) We use Intune and an MDM - does anyone know how I can allow it to install either any App from the App Store or even curated ones. Thank you

I decided to use the domain apple didn't require verifying as I didn't care. I changed the domain of my admin accounts to beaminstersch.appleid.com aaand now I can't login... fml helpful messages to see my administrator for login issues if especially fun.

Hi, I am attempting to push apps onto my managed iPads using Meraki that I have linked with ASM and Meraki. When I attempt to push the apps nothing happens. There are a few errors messages on the event logs of the devices:

Install application response received - name: Classroom, error: The MDM request is invalid., status: Error

Install application response received - name: Meraki Systems Manager, error: The MDM request is invalid., status: Error

Install app 'Meraki Systems Manager' Error: The MDM request is invalid. I have taken over support at a local school and want to incorporate Apple Schools Manager. The issue I am having is that the current devices are not enrolled into our DEP and as the devices were bought through the previous IT company, who have gone bust, I have no way of adding them to our DEP I have added the devices to Meraki and linked Meraki to ASM but cannot add any devices to ASM I have spoken to Apple and they say there is no way to add these devices without knowing the supplier and their DEP reseller code. Long shot, anyone know of any way to add these devices???? Cheers

Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help me with this: We want to start sending reports home with colour coding instead of grades which we will extract from an aspect in a marksheet. However, I'm not sure how to create a column that will remain blank but will colour depending on a grade that is entered into a different column. For example:

Name Strand A01 Strand A01 Colour

Bloggs, Fred Emerging (blank but coloured red)

'Strand A01 Colour' is the aspect that I would pull through into the report. I am familiar with formula columns and have tried a few to no avail. Can anyone help? Thanks!
