I have recently set up a new Apple School Manager account. Setting up the DEP steps went fine, and all our devices are showing up correctly. But on the 'Buy Apps and Books' section, AKA Volume Purchase Program, I am to get it to process my request. The school is an academy and doesn't currently have a VAT No. so I am choosing the 'Taxable / not VAT Registered' option, but when I press 'Continue', nothing happens! No error message - just nothing. Just wondered whether anyone else has had this issue? Or has a solution? The service is in preview, so I guess you could put it down to that. I have tried Safari and Chrome, with the same result.

Hi, I am having an issue at the moment with Shared iPad deployment. The iPads use DEP and talk to our meraki console, where they are supervised and configured as shared iPads from that DEP enrolment profile. Once they have been supervised the devices think they are in San Francisco and we seem to be unable to change the location of the iPads. There doesn't seem to be a restriction set...

Hi, I've a bit of a conundrum that I can't help but think someone else must be experiencing. We've a couple of hundred iPad 2's that we purchased from AT Computers (no longer trading). We really want to push ahead making use of DEP, however our existing iPads are not available/ registered with apple and therefore aren't available in MDM. Our understanding: When logging into DEP we should have a list of previous orders that we approve for the programme. Although AT Computers have now been bought/ changed trading name (yey), after pestering them for the last 4 months nothings has yet happened. So I guess my question to you all is: "Do any of you have old devices that are available to the deployment programme?" Many thanks, hope you've had more success than us with this! David

Hi all, I am currently in the middle of setting up DEP for our school and have a couple of questions that I wonder if anyone could shed some light on. At the minute our current provision is this: 32 iPad Airs in a "bank" (shared devices) 10 SLT dedicated iPads ~15 staff dedicated iPads 25 iMac suite We are using Meraki (free) for our MDM solution and now want to use this in conjunction with DEP to automate the enrollment and deployment process. I have setup our DEP account with an Apple ID and 2-factor authentication (don't ask...) and our supplier has been linked to our DEP account so any new devices we buy will be preconfigured for DEP over-the-air deployment. Deployment process is as follows: User "unboxes" a brand new iPad and switches it on Setup wizard asks to join a wifi network (our BYOD network works fine) The iPads serial number is recognised as being "associated" with our organisation (as it is added by our supplier to our DEP account) The user is asked to authenticate with their AD credentials (not sure if this is 100% necessary but it works so oh well) A NON-REMOVABLE MDM profile is downloaded and installed onto the device (the only way you can stop users removing the root profile is through DEP apparently, thanks Apple... User is asked to sign in with an Apple ID Siri/iCloud setup screens iPad is ready to go. Can Profile Manager and Meraki be used simultaneously? In the profile Manager console, I am able to see the new device and put it into a group. I am also able to set restrictions (basically create a profile) and assign it to this group, however they never seem to be installed on the device. In the Active Tasks tab I am able to see the job waiting but it will be stuck on Pending forever. Why is this and does anyone know how I can force these settings to be pushed to the iOS device? The internet connection is fine and our iPad SSID doesn't use a proxy. Ideally we would like the process to be as streamlined as possible. So the steps detailed above, then an automatic install of our Meraki MDM profile, and VPP app assignment (the bane of my life). Does anyone know why our Profile Manager settings would be "pending" and not being pushed through?

Hi all, Hopefully someone has tried this... before I press 'OK'..... I have a stack of Ipads that have.. a) Unique apple ID's b) Are enrolled in Meraki Systems Manager c) Initially configured with Apple Configurator I've got more 'pads coming soon that will be configured using DEP. If I re-enroll my existing Ipads with DEP... a) Are they going to reset and reinstall all the apps, profiles etc b) Require the Apple ID inputting again c) Is there any advantage regarding managing them? d) Should I bother? Cheers in advance

What am I doing wrong here..... On the DEP enrollment page, can't hit next. Am I waiting for the reseller/Apple to do something ? Apple. AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Up until 'recently' or install Autograph was working perfectly. We have had a visit from a member of the Maths Department because Autograph is now failing to start properly. I say 'recently' because I am sure that Autograph has not been called upon for quite some time in the computer suites. There is a fix but it requires us to visit each machine that has the issue in turn and add an exception in Data Execution Prevention for Autograph. Is there a way of doing this centrally/via Group Policy? Many thanks. Server OS: Windows Server 2008: 64 Bit: Service Pack 2 Client OS: Windows XP Pro: Service Pack 3.

On several PCs now whenever anyone goes to a folder with video files in and viewed with thumbnails Windows XP's Explorer crashes with a Data Execution Prevention error message and Explorer promptly closes down. Our video is in either AVI, MPEG2 or MPEG4. We do use VideoLan's VLC to view MPEG files. Some staff have tried to install YouTube downloading software which I've now removed. Across the internet the solution seems to be to switch off DEP. I'd rather find the cause though. Is it best just to re-install Windows XP? Any ideas?

I have taken over support at a local school and want to incorporate Apple Schools Manager. The issue I am having is that the current devices are not enrolled into our DEP and as the devices were bought through the previous IT company, who have gone bust, I have no way of adding them to our DEP I have added the devices to Meraki and linked Meraki to ASM but cannot add any devices to ASM I have spoken to Apple and they say there is no way to add these devices without knowing the supplier and their DEP reseller code. Long shot, anyone know of any way to add these devices???? Cheers

I have recently taken on the role of IT lead in a primary school and I'm currently trying to tidy up the mess my predecessor has left me. The biggest issue is I have half of our Apple devices in the old MDM which has expired, and the other half in a newer MDM which I will continue to use. I have contacted the old MDM provider who have given me temporary access to deactivate the MDM on the portal, having "forgotten" all the remaining devices, a factory reset has reinstalled the profile. The MDM provider have put me in the direction of Apple DEP which I do not have access too, nor the login details. Does anyone know a workaround to remove the profile on these devices, they are only a year or so old so it would be a shame to have to decommission them. TIA!

Hi I've successfully enrolled on the Apple DEP and am using a Lightspeed MDM form BT Lancashire Services. On the DEP portal, I am trying to add an MDM server but this requires me to upload a certificate. On the Lightspeed MDM portal when i go to Settings - DEP, I have the option to download a certificate, which i guess is the certificate I need to upload on the DEP portal. However, when i try to download it, by clicking on the link, I am told that I do not have sufficient privileges. Am i going about this the right way / has anyone else had similar problems? any help / advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Paul
