or it may have been bad permissions on the office program directory

Its coming back to me..... I think it was deleting the local copy of the profile and logging on to re-create.
-
@CHR1S Its got to be looking for that on a network drive. Try logging on as admin and see if you get the same.
-
That may well have been it... with roaming profiles going bad.

I've had this before and don't think I ever got to the bottom of it. It might have been something to do with offline files.

Sounds like an update to me.

Smoothwall don't recommend running on a VM. I'd put the 2nd DC on a physical machine or a 2nd host. I couldn't get WDS to read/write images to anything but a local drive... hence lots of disk space munched up. My VMWare setup runs great on an HP 360p Gen 8 with 72Gb RAM and 10 VM's.... need more disk space tho' Backup server should be separated out too. EDIT: God that Ebuyer server is a beast 5U ??? My hosts cost about £6000 each. I seem to remember the RAM being about £1500. Almightily expensive

[sims] SIMS Assessment / Target Tracker import woes
mikkydoos replied to GeeHubb's topic in MIS Systems
I don't think you can do it that way. I'm pretty sure the wizards are self contained. I don't think they're linked to any other marksheets or aspects. Don't you have to output reports using CTFOUT -
Hi all, Left LA a while ago but my AD domain is still name.region.sch.uk which I'd like to change (if its not going to cause me too many problems). Our domain has always been that named that way instead of ****.pri or ****.local since before I worked here. Has anyone ever renamed their domain ? If so how did you do it? I take it that all the client machines had to be rejoined ? Cheers in advance

I've got 'aacraid_vmware_drivers_1.2.1-40301_cert.tgz'. That the same as you have ? Haven't unpacked to look inside.

1. You can set a default domain in O365 which should firstly assign the correct domain to the users. Also in the users Attribute Editor in AD you set the 'Proxy address' for each of their email addresses/domains 'SMTP' (capitals) sets their primary domain) 'smtp' sets the alias domain e.g. 'SMTP:[email protected]' 'smtp:[email protected]' 'smtp:[email protected]' When it syncs it should set the correct first domain for each account.

Virgin Media double land line rental via Link2ICT
mikkydoos replied to mikkydoos's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
No. But its given me an excuse to see which of the lines we'll be paying £10 a month for that I'll keep. I've found 10 unused ones already = £100/month. I'm not sure Link2 will be around for that much longer. -
These don't look too bad. Many positive reviews. Was thinking one for myself. http://www.ebuyer.com/659138-hisense-u971-smartphone-u971

Office 365/Sharepoint/Teacher Dashboard Help/Advice
mikkydoos replied to profit10's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
Tons of guides / tutorials on youtube. There's a VLE called FrogLearn which isn't too expensive (I think £2500 a year) and is really good. Gives staff the ownership of creating their own content and is very intuitive. It has AD and Exchange integration too. Went to their annual conference in Birmingham this Tuesday and some schools are doing some pretty awesome stuff with it. Moodle is going to be difficult if you haven't got the time/skills in your team. I've used O365 Sharepoint and its very complicated compared. Good luck trying to get it off the ground. Take your time choosing the right product tho' -
unable to connect supervised ipad to another computer
mikkydoos replied to cricka15's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
I've had a few where the 'Trust this computer' button doesn't appear first time when they plug them in. Requires replugging in. -
Someone brought me a Samsung Galaxy phone the other day where the email app was loading but displayed garbled messages. Couldn't think of how to fix it except factory resetting it - which I didn't Try using AquaMail. Its very functional and supports most mail providers.

imo they're all pretty cack. You'd be better off with Chromebooks.

Most Birmingham schools have probably seen this already. For those that haven't........ "Virgin Media have advised us that with effect from 20 June, they will be increasing the price of their Centrex telephony lines from £5 per month to £9.50 per month. There is no justification for this price increase and despite many years of customer loyalty, Virgin Media are unwilling to negotiate to improve this offer. To counter this unwelcome news, Link2ICT are now accelerating deployment of a fully cloud based VoIP telephony solution which will provide schools with a far cheaper alternative that includes all call charges. This will be available during the autumn term." We don't subscribe to Link2ICT's services but do have their Virgin phone lines (non VOIP). So for us, line rental has doubled. Anyone mind posting what you're paying for your VOIP service, and how much bandwidth its using up. I'm reading its around 1mbps per 10 concurrent calls. Doubtful that its worth it for us as we've got less than 20 phone lines. We do however have a 50mbps leased line which is plenty.

Self signed certs for VCenter Server on ESXi 5.1

Incidentally, won't work in Firefox/Waterfox either. VMWare do make things so overcomplicated.- 7 replies
