  1. Because at my place anyway they have an incredible knack of breaking them. God knows how... but they do
  2. Thing about primaries m8 is that the staff need so much hand holding. Its the workstations that are going to be a major bum pain for you.
  3. Surely that still means you only have one backup but within a VHD. Wot am I missing ?
  4. P.s. I am not available for smooching
  5. You might want to try using the "Always wait for network at logon" GPO setting as well to make sure the computer waits for a network connection processes policies and scripts etc.
  6. Post your script up m8
  7. Have you tried to deploy it without the script and the reg tweak ? If that doesn't work, your .msi must be corrupt
  8. Run 'rsop.msc' on the client PC Right click 'Computer Configuration' ---> Properties Look at the 'Error information' for that GPO - it'll tell you whether its tried to process the GPO first of all and whether it failed - Is the policy trying to run? Definitely got the script in 'Computer Configuration' and not 'User Configuration' ? Can't think of anything else it would be unless the .msi is corrupt but if you've run it manually, it isnt o
  9. Have you done a rsop.msc to check the error ? Have you hit the 'Replace child permission for parent' on the share. (You've probably done this but...) Have you checked the perms on the Share as well as the folder containing the files ? The error log will tell u tho'
  10. So you're running an .msi or an .exe from the server share ? Sounds like permissions to me
  11. Where has the .msi come from ?
  12. Spec looks pretty spot on. Some pretty cheap Fujitsu servers about. Bit of advice - biggest HDD's you can - my place - no ever deletes anything ever and primary's generate a LOT of data in the form of photos/videos for attainment evidence. Mine do anyway. Why not set up a domain in your forest for them and link them to you via the VPN. You wont have to visit them as much then
  13. I'm having trouble with Flash player v17. Their login and some post login screens are hosted on a different domain. Are parts of the page being filtered out?
  14. I'd be tempted to delete their App Data folder in their profile
  15. Spot on. Thats why I posted this. Obviously we're going to pay for the extra bandwidth over the year but to charge double whilst we're still in contract isn't on. To be fair to them, I've got our rep trying to get what I want but I'm not expecting him to because thats how their pricing structure works. I don't want to cancel the contract, I just have more bandwidth for the next 2 years, not have to extend the contract, retain options of suppliers in 2 years, and.... not get stung for it. Doesn't mention extra fee's for up'ing the bandwidth in the contract either.
  16. The point is that they're trying to charge an extra £1200 to up the bandwidth when I'm in year 2 of a 3 year contract. I've got no issue with the service from them, its the ethics m8. If I renew the contract fresh, the price is only £400.
  17. @foofighterjim What are they like to deal with now? Years ago they were the worst imaginable rip off merchants and I swore I'd never talk to them again.
  18. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Bear in mind we're not an LA school - and we're in the middle of Birmingham. We can pretty much get what we like. Basically Virgin charging an extra 1200 quid for nothing is whats getting on my wick ! - - - Updated - - - Where are u @localzuk , the moon ??
  20. Hey all, Got Virgin media leased fibre line... need to up the bandwidth from 10mbs to 30-50mbs - maxing it out big time! They want an extra £400 a year + £500 one-off payment for 30mbs, if we sign a new 3 year contract. Without signing a new 3 year contract they want an extra £1200 an year + £500 one-off payment. They can go and $$$$ $$$ ! I think we're paying too much anyway for 10mbs. Any recommendations for ISP's for the West Midlands? Suppliers - PM me some prices (no spiel pls, just figures) if you wish - new 100mb fibre carrier was installed last year by Virgin. I'm looking for up to 50mbs each way, fully managed service with guaranteed uptime Cheers all
  21. I've disabled it all now. Doesn't half run quicker !
