  1. Yeah, im looking at it now. Cheers
  2. No its about 4 months old. OK anyone know how to turn off all the notifications etc that are looking for data on the 'net ?
  3. Hi all, I've fairly recently put in a Mac which is a secondary Papercut server for Ipads. I've just run a report from my firewall (smoothwall) to investigate bandwidth consumption. The second biggest bandwith usage is reported as coming from the Mac @ 12gb last week. Any ideas what its doing. Its pretty vanilla and as it came out of the box. (I am no Mac expert!)
  4. Yes. Set the complexity in your Group policies with length, age, remembered etc. You can either specify a maximum password age or manually force a reset as you described above. Be aware of any other systems that require those AD credentials though. For example Office 365 or print management etc. They may need a manual sync.
  5. Pfsense is awesome if used on its own
  6. Smoothwall here. I've seen Bloxx and that looks ok
  7. Got the latest thanks @MatthewL
  8. Cheers for the replies guys. I'm in a pretty big Victorian school with 3ft thick walls. Not sure if these would work. Hence the WiFi/NTP question. Don't want to break the bank either on systems with transmitters! There are some that have PoE on them but then I've got to cable them in ;( Erm... no.
  9. Anyone got a supplier for WiFi NTP clocks? Don't wanna run ethernet/POE to them. I've found these but they don't do a WiFi version. Wireless Clocks and Synchronized Clock Systems | PoE, Wired and Master Clock Systems | Sapling Clocks ?????????????????????????????????????
  10. I think you might be right I'll remove the redirection and see what happens
  11. Its a funny one. Our lasers print via a PaperCut 'Follow-Me' queue on the same server with no issues. Thing is, we've got 3 different models of Sharp copier all with the same driver as we've always used. They're all doing the same but only started like 6 months ago. I can print fine direct from the server but not from the workstations. I'm sure its the driver but difficult to fix because they're always in use Cheers for the reply Tim.
  12. OK, update.... I cant open MS Word without the PC being connected to the network. This is over my whole network. ????????????????????????????
  13. Hi all, Recently modified our Folder Redirection GPO's to include Appdata (using Roaming Profiles too). This is applied to laptop users as well as desktop users. I've got a laptop here where a couple of Office programs wont open without a network connection (or the user is connected via VPN). Error I get in Word is 'Your AutoCorrect file 'mso2057.ad' could not be saved. I don't know if this is the only machine with a problem yet. If I remove the GPO, it does the same thing. Could this be it still looking for AppData over the network? Nothing in the error logs.
  14. Sharp for me imo - avoid Ricoh like the plague tbh, you should be able to get a copier on trial from any decent supplier
  15. Have you put your RAM in the dual channel slots instead of single channel?
  16. Also, look up a company called Midshire Business Systems. We use their West Midlands branch and their service is second to none.... thumbs up from me
  17. Tell you I was very surprised at Sharp copiers - They're excellent. Oce are good too. Ricoh - NNNOOOOOOOOOOOO. Do not.
  18. Your error log will tell u if the perms aren't right.
  19. Pretty sure this program has to be run in compatibility mode, probably for XP. Can't remember if you've got exactly the same software
  20. Hi all, Got an issue with printing photos to Sharp copiers using the Windows photo printing wizard. First few lines of the photos print but the rest of the image doesn't. If I go into the driver properties on the client PC, I can set it to 2up, 4up etc and it prints fine - this isn't appropriate for staff and kids though. Copiers are on a Papercut server - I've eliminated this as an issue though. I'm pretty sure (so is the copier engineer) that its a driver problem - am currently using the Sharp generic driver. Anyone else had anything like this at all ?
  21. 2 options when you remove the .msi from the GP object. Prevent further installs Remove Remove will uninstall during next startup providing the source install files are still in their original location
  22. Depends what you want to do with your VM box. If as above I don't think you need that much power tbh. RAM yes, CPU shouldn't need to be too heavy duty with only 4 VM's on it. Only you going to be accessing it right ? Most cheap laptops come with virtualisation thesedays. I'm VMing Windows 7 on an Atom at home sitting on Gentoo linux and it runs great.
  23. I set my wifi and the meraki certificate up in a trolley first using apple configurator then meraki for anything else
  24. They are all RAIDed. RAID 5 in the one that I mentioned above. You all may be right. Disk limitations.
  25. Yeah you're right but I'm losing a lot on quad NIC's to quad NIC's over 1gb fibre. I think it should be nearer 1000 Mbps. Might test it on Linux machines. Probably will be better results
