Hi I have re-directed the documents etc to the home drives however students have the option to save to the local user account appdata. Can I restrict this so it will only go the the documents folder? I have not configured the AppData(roaming) properties yet? Thanks for your help

i've noticed a handful of our 250+ staff have these multiple instances of OST files in their %APPDATA%\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook folders Can anyone spread some light onto what would be causing this as it's eating into my data storage

Hi all, Recently modified our Folder Redirection GPO's to include Appdata (using Roaming Profiles too). This is applied to laptop users as well as desktop users. I've got a laptop here where a couple of Office programs wont open without a network connection (or the user is connected via VPN). Error I get in Word is 'Your AutoCorrect file 'mso2057.ad' could not be saved. I don't know if this is the only machine with a problem yet. If I remove the GPO, it does the same thing. Could this be it still looking for AppData over the network? Nothing in the error logs.

Hi, first post here. Hope to use this place quite a bit since I just moved from a corporate IT department to over to an education MSP. Basically I have the same issue as mentioned here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msteams/forum/all/teams-javascript-error-windows-10-1709/bdecf01b-0b17-4ef0-aa94-be26e9f1276c This has just happened to one of my schools who is redirecting %appdata% to a network share. Teams loads fine when the profile is created but after signing out and back into Windows, the javascript error pops up and Teams will not load. Identical error to the one in the post above: A JavaScript error occurred in the main process Uncaught Exception: Error: EEXIST: file already exists, mkdir Using Windows 10 Edu 21H2 and latest version of Teams machine wide installer. UE-V doesn't solve the issue as the point of redirecting appdata/roaming is to stop the hard drive from filling up as this is an environment with shared PCs where each machine can easily see 100 users sign in per month and Teams likes to dump approx 2GB of data into that folder. I'm kinda getting the sense that Microsoft doesn't have a proper replacement for roaming profiles and noticed a niche situation in education premise IT rooms with machines that have different users signing in and out all day. Many thanks.

I'm having a bit of a problem with Staff laptops and Word 2010. We've just imaged all the laptops to Windows 7 and Office 2010 but can't get Word to play ball. Everything works fine while the user is logged on to the network but when off the network (i.e. when a user is at home) Word crashes citing problems with the Normal.dot. I think it is down to the staffs roaming profiles and where the Normal.dot file is stored. I think Word is looking for it on the servers where the profile is stored (in AppData) and when not connected it throws up an error. I've tried redirecting AppData to the local userprofile location but that hasn't worked. Does anyone have any ideas? I cant really give out the newly imaged laptops until this is fixed! Cheers James EDIT: nevermind, I managed to fix it by configuring Offline Files correctly.

Hello, Does anyone happen to have a script that can be ran, either scheduled from a PC or otherwise that will remove Adobe appdata from student's profiles (C Drive specifically)? We currently route our appdata to a students C drive at the moment because if we try to do it to their network drive instead, Adobe really doesn't like it and Dreamweaver/Photoshop start crashing heavily. It doesn't seem to crash much at all if we route it to the C drive of the user instead. I mean, if anyone has any possible solutions where we can route it back to their network drive and not have Adobe crash every 5 minutes, I would happily hear them out too! I am obviously cautious that they will eventually fill up the C Drive and will start having issues loading or being used. Thanks everyone!

Hi ive set a group policy for our users computers to delete roming profile upon logoff around school. it does delete untill they restart their computers and it comes back with there roaming profile with the following c:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\InputPersonalization\TextHarvester\ and a dat file called "TextHarvester.dat" is left behind. this now causes the user to have a second local roming profile created with the .001 extension everytime they login ive done some home work on the internet and seen some people blame it on the "TabletInputService" ive disabled this service in a group policy preference. it seemed to have worked at first then the problem comeback some people on another forum think its down to the "Windows Search" Service. and theres no way im disabling that as our users need it!!! im ripping my hair out. im running a windows server 2008 r2 domain with windows 7 professional x64 clients around school has anyone actually resolved this problem as i am seeing different results on various forums! Hope someone can help Regards
