Have a bunch of supervised iPads across several schools and started getting complaints that staff can no longer connect iPads to computers(running Windows) to take images/videos off. Ipads were setup with allow connecting to another computer enabled and staff were able to take pictures and videos off. Have tried myself and confirmed this is no longer possible for them. The only change I can thing of is update from ios7 to 8. I have ensured the supervison mac is up to date, including updating configurator, the configuration profile and refreshing the profile installation on the ipads. Is there something that was brought into iOS8 to prevent connection to a computer or is there some part of my configuration that needs updating? Currently have to connect to the supervising mac to get images off which is less than ideal Any suggestions gratefully received!

Hi, I'm looking for advice re connecting our main switches... To cut a moderatly long story slightly shorter, we have a Windows 2003 Domain, and we're currently running pretty much all 'dumb' d-link des-1024's switches on our site, with most being connected to one of our two core Procurve 1800-24 switches. Because of the impending installation a VOIP phone system, and replacing the wireless LAN, I will be changing most of the d-links with either Procurve or Netgear 'Smart' POE/Gigabit switches for their VLAN/QOS capabilities (also a good excuse to run gigabit to the workstations too). What I was wondering was how best to connect the switches when they are replaced: 1 - each sub switch to the core switches 2 - 'daisy-chain' one switch off the other from core switches down. I am also moving the servers from their current location (my tinitis-ridden office ) to a dedicated server room which will be linked to my office via 8-core fibre (which i will probably trunk to provide 2Gbps between the two rooms with the Procurve 1800s). Half the school is cabled back to my office and half to the new server room. Another question: Do people reckon Procurve 1800s are good for cores, and if not, any suggestions? Thanks

Hi Everyone Basically, we (serveral schools) are part of a massive joint domain and I work across 2 of the sites. Site A and Site B. Site A is happy, SIMS works locally, Woohoo Site B is happy, SIMS Works locally, Woohoo. Data Officer at Site B runs a HTA I made to switch between Site A SIMS (S:) and Site B SIMS (T:) The HTA just copies and overwrites the connect.ini and sims.ini to the appropriate folder (x86 / x64) Depending whether she wants to connect to Site A (S:) or Site B (T:) Now the issue. Everything works until we looked at the exams module. When the connect.ini and SIMS.ini are aimed at Site B (T:), the exams module is still looking at Site A (S:), even though everything else you find in SIMS is infact for Site B (T:) as it should be. That's 2 separate Sites / Servers / Databases. My question is how is this possible? Is there some cache or other .ini file that we need to replace as the exams module is an extra I believe? Thanks Steve

So my installation of FOG 0.28 on Debian Lenny was working just great. I decided to set passwords in my PXE boot menu options in the GUI. From what I understood you had to do this before you can use the "Quick Image" option on the boot menu. I was also interested in setting a passwords on the registration options in the menu. So I went to the Other Information, PXE Boot Menu, section and entered a password (same one I use for the GUI web interface login) in to all the fields on that page. After I applied those settings my log files are all showing the same line over and over. I tried going back and setting the passwords to blank again. I also tried getting the password from the config.php file that is used for FTP/TFTP and putting that in the Master Password field. I also rebooted the box just for kicks. None of this is undoing the problem that setting a password in the PXE Boot Menu seems to have caused. Any ideas on how I can further troubleshoot this issue would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Mike

Hello, dear community, After moving to a new apartment, I made a work/playtime space in the living room next to the TV. I took advantage of the short distance of the computer from the TV and connected the video card to the TV as well. So I have a monitor connected to my NVIDIA card via HDMI cable and the TV via DisplayPort cable. When I'm on the computer and the TV is off, I sometimes hear the sound of a device disconnecting and then connecting again. Through various methods, I have excluded everything except the connected TV. I use Win + P to switch screens, either duplication or expansion. I could even get used to that irregular TV reconnect sound, but every time it reconnects, the PC freezes for a second. Which is quite annoying while playing a video game. I've searched all over the internet, it seemed like I've even found the same problem, but nobody helped the person in question. I'm going to try it elsewhere after a few years, so hopefully I'll get lucky. The only solution I have found is to disconnect the cable from the TV or PC, but due to the location of both devices this is very impractical and annoying. Would there be any way to hard disconnect the TV without having to pull the cable out? I can think of a BAT file or a PowerShell script that would disable the "monitor" and then enable it again when I restart it. But I don't know how to do it... o.o Addition: I use Windows 10. Thanks in advance for any answers and advice!

Hi All, I'm new to this and are currently having some issues on sorting this out. I would like to be able to connect to the server from different networks without the user using the client computer needing to do anything. I would like it to be able to connect to the server network, be able to access shared folders and printers, be able to connect automatically, without changing from the server's dns and static ip and be able to connect to the server with internet connection. It would be much appreciated if anyone could help as I've never done this before and if possible can you reply with a step-by-step answer Thanks, rbd12345 Also if anyone knows how to deploy the latest Office 2013, Libreoffice, iTunes or Proclaim Worship Presentation please email me at [email protected]. Thanks
