Jawloms Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Watched Independence Day-Saster on Channel 5 over the weekend. It was awful, but I couldn't turn it off for some reason..... It's not even that it was so bad it was good, it was just terrible. It was made in 2013 and was about an alien invasion on July 4th where the Americans defeated the alien ships which had come down to Earth by destroying the mother ship by hacking in to it. Sound like any other film with a similar name much?

One major quibble: the eventual rescue plan was surely the one anyone with a passing interest in space travel would have mooted, but apparently only one NASA genius could think of. (OK, the rest of us probably couldn't do the math). A few minor ones: Did only one of them take any music? Can mid-level employees really just get access to the NASA mainframe and director? Plus they didn't really explain why they still needed the Chinese after the plan changed. Was pleasantly surprised by how full the screen was. Worth a look.

No, but I did recently catch up with "Secret State" and notice a character take an ASUS laptop into a pub which changed to an Acer when he started to use it and then back to an ASUS again before he left.

"Scary Movie" style spoof of the "Fast & Furious" movies. OK with alcohol if your the sort of fan of the films who isn't religious about them. I will confess to laughing out loud occasionally.

Quite enjoyed it. Thought the same as you with the negative point and also where he moved the file from one machine to the other just by waving his hand or whatever he done but remembering that it is set sometime in the future then that might be a possibility. All in all I thought it was quite a well thought out film that was an easy watch.
siuko Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Watched Tomorrowland on Bluray yesterday I quite enjoyed it even though it seems to be getting slated in reviews a bit It was a little cheesy in places but overall it was a nice film (just hope I get to have a pin! )

It's being repeated on Thursday afternoon if you have the equipment and would like to watch. Be sure to check out the groovy theme song which supposedly was released as a 7"!

When his liaison/priest/confessor and friend dies he learns that not all witches are happy with the truce... Never read the "Dresden Files" books, but this is what I felt the TV show wanted to be. It plays a bit like a noir detective story but with the outcome being decided by magic and swords rather than bullets. Quite fun if this is your sort of thing, but I'd wait for it to turn up on your preferred home media consumption channel rather than trek out to the cinema.

Sagima Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Watched Maze Runner at the weekend at the behest of my husband. Not as bad as I was expecting. I may even go so far as to so I quite enjoyed it although I've already forgotten exactly why they were experimenting on the boys and felt the need to have half a dozen or so cybernetic scorpions trying to kill them. Also why was only one of them English and where did they go to get their hair done and find the wax/mousse necessary to maintain the style? - maybe it was in the crates but I'd have though that clothes food and medicine would have been more likely to be in there (at least if I was one of 30 young men penned up in an inescapable maze I'd forgo shaving and hair styling for an umbrella, some cold roasted chicken and a nice book). Maybe I'll find out when the sequel arrives non dvd 1

The Interview Strangely the "furore" over this film's release has passed its cable release by... Actually quite funny, if you don't mind gross out humour.

Still, I kind of wish I hadn't watched a film about the death of childhood memories the day after leaving my childhood home for the last time before my parents move out!

You're the first person I have found who enjoyed it? Me and my 8yr old were totally bored. He said it wasn't very funny, and kids cartoons need to be funny.

I suppose a lot of it is aimed a bit high for pre-teens--the abstract thought, the imaginary boyfriend, the differences between Mum & Dad etc. 14yo and wife loved it as well, but it has less kid appeal than a lot of other Pixar films.

StevieM Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (Original Theatrical Release) I've just come to the end of my annual Stars Wars cycle. It's become a ritual to watch Star Wars (A New Hope) on bonfire night after watching all the prequels first (including the animated Episode 2.5 Clone Wars) and the sequels afterwards. Having watched ROTJ on Blu-Ray last year, I decided I couldn't cope with Vader's 'Noo. Nooooooooooooo' at the end this year and decided to watch the version without all the digital jiggery-pokery! Aaaahhhh, bliss. Next stop - The three episodes of Robot Chicken Star Wars - Pure Genius!

LAst night I watched "Of Mice and Men" with John Malkovich and Gary Senise (excuse spelling). This was a great film, really enjoyed it. Over the weekend I watched "To Kill a Mockingbird" with Gregory Peck. Thought this was a little slow to get going but the courtroom scene was amazing. Missed a few key scenes from the book for me as well, but enjoyed it anyway :-)
