We have migrated all sites to Office 365 and now looking for the right individual to take the entire infrastructure over and move us to the future. We are about to go through a period of sustained growth where we will take on a substantial amount of schools and have to stabilise their networks and move them to our infrastructure. Yet another vote for school cloud. Been amazing and he support if you ever need it has been great. My wife's primary school also uses it and they love it. They are talking about using it as an additional option to onsite parents evenings even after the pandemic ends as the parents have loved it so much.

Yeah got to agree, if costs permit always go for more. Cover all bases as trying to run another line later will be considerably harder. The 2nd point doesn't even need to be patched in at the minute so all you are spending is extra copper cable and patch panels.

I have run a few clubs over the years including minecraft, Lego and also Archery. I was a member of an archery club and the head asked if I would do it with a select few Y11 pupils. Went really well but I decided the following year didn't really have enough candidates that I thought I could trust completely to take part so we cancelled it.

This seems to be becoming a more wide spread trend. I have now heard a few schools taking a similar approach as laptops dont offer a good return on investment. They need replacing more often and are more likely to be broken or need some type of intervention from an IT person than what a PC will. The last argument I heard was that if the teacher needs to do work then they should do this work in school on a PC and then go home and have family time. I do not fall within this group. I look at it from my wife's standpoint who is a year 2 teacher but we also have two young children. My wife works in school until about 4 PM and then packs up, comes home and sees our children and depending on how she feels talks to me, haha. Then once we have put our children to bed she will get her laptop out and do her work that needs doing. This arrangement would not be possible if she didn't have a laptop and the only IT arrangements the school had were based in the actual building. In todays world I think schools need to think much more flexibly and look at learning from a world point and not put barriers in place.

haha, this is exactly what I come here to check. I have been so busy this year that i forgot to claim mine. hope they resend the link so I can get some.

We are also looking into this. If you are using office 365 if seems to be pretty straight forward. You can either use Teams to do a live broadcast or you can use Stream to pre record the session and then post it as a new Tab within the Teams page. Also, get the teacher to set the page up as a virtual classroom and Teams sets all the collaboration stuff up in the background for the teacher to share with the pupils. finally, you can use the admin side to analyse who has actually logged in and viewed the broadcast. We are also looking a basing a question sheet where the pupil will get the answers from the broadcast so we can make sure they actually watch it and not just log in and then close it straight away.

I wish I could, I love you socks but I am in school every day and am already booked in on a video meeting with our internet providers. Will you be running it for a third time so I can register to get my socks, erm I mean watch your wonderfully put together presentation?

Thanks everyone. i am going to do this week and see exactly who else comes in. Once I have a pattern of who is coming and going I am going to contact the headteacher directly and ask for clarification on my working days, at least then I have everything in writing when I take it further. I can see a lot of time being allocated to learning some programming and project management.

They have now added the asset system, that was never my job, on to my role against the suggestion of occupational health and have said that I can do that while I am there. I have been actively working all day every day from home, even managed to fix the heads PAs laptop using facetime because she couldnt explain what she was seeing on screen. I can only think this is a political move against me, maybe to try and force me out.

Well, just had the call from the business manager. I have been ordered to go back onsite every day from 8 till 4 to make sur ethat I am doing my job, the same job I have been doing from home successfully for the last two weeks, working late into the night some days. Its a disgrace. I am now he only member of staff, teaching or non teaching, that is going to be onsite every day. I asked the question of is every other member of non teaching staff proving that they are actively working every day, I know one particular member of SLT said he was doing some visits home to check on some at risk pupils and then coming back to school to use the gym, well thats not working then is it. I have no idea what is going on anymore, I have got young kids at home and worry about getting sick and passing it on to them. Its fine for the SLT to make these decisions while they are safe at home. Rant over, for now.

Now because of an argument between the council and the company who own the building about paying the PFI contract the school is open. I am the only person being told to go in to set some laptops up for pupils to work at home. There will be no pupils onsite so our school is not classed as a critical employment but I have basically been ordered to go and deal with parents coming in to pick up laptops. But the school are really concerned about my welfare and asked that I adhere to social distancing whilst dealing with parents. Gee, thanks for the concern while you are all safely at home as per the governments guidelines.

Our school closed as of last night so working from home answering emails and doing what I can remotely, apart from that working on updating paperwork and documentation while entertaining my almost three and almost 8 year old. Already done the Joe wicks workout, planted some plants and had a morning reading session. They are now having play time in garden while I try to do some work (well browse edugeek) and then its time for maths, haha. Working longer hours during the lockdown than I ever did before. Government should be paying me overtime for all of this.

Where to begin. I have had a car accident where I broke both my legs and had to be cut out of my car. I have had multiple surgeries in the last 15 years as a result. There is no point listening to other peoples stories and try not to look it up online. Surgery is only ever done when absolutely required and just keep telling yourself this, if there is a chance of the surgery even helping with 10% of your problems is the risk of discomfort afterwards not worth it. Also, Codeine is not the only drug that they have on offer. When you say you cannot take Codeine, are you allergic or just dont like the feeling as there are many different itterations of the drug and it took me a while to settle on one that worked for me. Although they are all classed under the Codeine umbrella their chemical make up and way they attach to the neuro transmitters in the brain work slightly different so may be worth talking to the doctor, or better a pain management specialist, if you can. If I could go and have another procedure to help with my ongoing pain I would go tomorrow. If you have never been put under and operated on then it can be a daunting experience but the Nurses and Doctors in the NHS are fantastic and will take great care of you. Goodluck.
