  1. Strangely, doing some testing with a good disk. minitool seems to be recovering some full size (slightly corrupted) jpg files where photorec only recovers the thumbnail. In a strange turn of events, photorec can recover way more thumbnails that minitool. Does photorec have any more advanced recovery settings further than bruteforce to try and get the whole file instead of the internal thumbnail?
  2. Bloody hell, it suddenly sprang to life and minitool has a whole drive of contents to recover. Im impressed. Now its up to the user if she wants to recover "just" 1Gb for free or pay for the full recovery!
  3. Trying it now, been sat at zero % for quite some time. Think the drive is dead. Even ubuntu couldnt mount it.
  4. Photorec sees the drive but recovers nothing
  5. So in the latter scenario, did you fix it? Am I SOL?
  6. Its almost like the platters have been scratched, it can read anything before it and I assume after and the failed bit is the partition data for the failed one. Going to try a photorec recovery and just hope for the best!
  7. Not encrypted, its a personal laptop. Im forcing a disk check at present to see if I can get anywhere with that. Getdataback just hangs when processing the drive/partition data. Will give photorec a go once this finishes.
  8. I have the HDD from a staff laptop that is sort of dead. It has smart errors and generally isnt healthy, however its working, to a fashion. I can access the recovery partition, view contents etc fine however the main partition shows its drive letter and not much else. I've attempted to fix the MBR, which now shows the partitions capacity but I still cant get it to do anything else. Can a hardware failure destroy a partition but still work? TIA
  9. I have a single machine out of a handful with specific folder redirection for their desktops that redirects to a folder in their user share. All working fine bar one. If you navigate to the machines file explorer and click on the "desktop" library icon it shows the redirected folder as expected, however the physical desktop itself is being redirected to a different location. The same folder in the users area but via a DFS link. DFS is implemented but not set for these specific handful of users. If I RSOP its showing the correct folder redirection settings being applied (non dfs). So, the question is, where has this machine found a dfs link to redirect to and how can I stop it? If you right click on the desktop folder and select properties its location is shown as the DFS but there are no "move" buttons that would normally be expected. Anyone got any ideas?
  10. Hi all Im upgrading my home network and would like some pointers on the best way to structure it. Here is how I envisage it - VM Super Hub 3 (Modem Mode) | Edge Router Lite | 24 port switch ( 5x CCTV / Server / Misc / AP) | 8 port switch | AP + Misc Would you split any of the bits off? CCTV etc?
  11. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly My dad is a big fan but I had never watched it. Was on a bit late for me so I fell asleep 2/3 in. What I saw I enjoyed even if its a tad dated by today's standards.
  12. Perhaps it was "edgy" in its day? (If you consider racial and homophobic slurs edgy) Spaceballs et al were much better.
  13. Blazing Saddles (again) I'm a fan of Mel Brookes/Gene Wilder/Richard Pryor but this is one of those films where I just dont get the hype for it most people do.
  14. There goes my commission then
  15. We originally used GoGuardian https://goguardian.com who I pestered @Haptic to become re-sellers. We have since moved to Impero which offers a very similar solution, we moved to amalgamate our services into one.

  17. Sorry to hijack the thread but I followed your steps but still get the following errors - SYSPRP Package Microsoft.Office.OneNote_17.7369.57831.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe was installed for a user, but not provisioned for all users. This package will not function properly in the sysprep image. 2016-10-18 14:32:02, Error SYSPRP Failed to remove apps for the current user: 0x80073cf2. 2016-10-18 14:32:02, Error SYSPRP Exit code of RemoveAllApps thread was 0x3cf2. Any ideas why I cant remove this? I only have Administrator & Guest disabled so only one alternative admin user is active. The SID for the "installed" appx doesnt match one on the PC.
  18. Just moved from PCE to Impero, much much better experience for us. PCE was a dog!

    impero

What price do you put on safeguarding children? I found the cost of Impero to be very reasonable, only slightly higher than our LEA charges for Policy Central but about a million times better. You know your 100% compliant with KCSIE and Prevent too.
  20. Were at various states with our LR projectors, flickering being the main issue we keep seeing but also now very dim bulbs. The last replacement direct with Smart was a real pain in the rear (I miss Steljes) and has returned after 10 days flicker free but so dim its almost impossible to see in a dark room let alone lit. Has anyone else had issues like this and managed to negotiate some form of blanket replacement or similar, im at the point where im considering legal advice and returning as not fit for purpose.

Funny how the thing designed to stop cheaters has stopped me playing legitimately and actually forced me to cheat to play. Irony overload there......
  23. GAFE is unlimited space, so erm.... unlimited haha. If I need something backed up I just copy it to a directory thats synced and its done as quick as my 100mb connection allows.
  24. I sync the root of each area via different accounts using https://www.insynchq.com/ then share the user areas inside manually to each individual person or group. Not a huge pain to set up for the extra backup you get as google saves different versions of each file and there is vault too. Its not my primary method of backing up but its my most convenient.
  25. LEA offsite backup for MIS and some user areas. Replicas for all VM's and a dedicated box for VM backups DFS on all critical shares with multiple physical endpoints. Google drive sync for all staff and shared areas. Edit - If I lose the entire network to a fire or a substantial amount of it then rebuilding a few DCs and restoring backups are the least of my worries.
