I need to export a shuffled playlist to a single audio file (pref WAV) with no gaps between tracks... Funny one I know! Any ideas or suggestions gratefully accepted

Tried these and the only one that works is the 'C' option (boot from disk) When I restart the machine , I get no 'chime' Could be that the HDD is in a state... Booting from disk , it won't allow me to wipe the disk / reinstall OSX. I'll bung in a blank drive - I'll either be able to install OS X or something is fried.

I've got an old MacBook Pro (probably 2009) that I've tried to upgrade to El Capitan. The Upgrade ran, the machine rebooted with a grey/white screen, an Apple logo & a status bar. The status bar gave random times that didn't match the time it was taking (which I understand) then after 24hrs , it stopped giving me any idea of time left .. and just stuck. Left it like that for another 24 hrs with no change. Have since rebooted (no change) I can restart and run from the original OS DVD and get into Utilities / terminal etc. I have read that my issues maybe due to 3rd party kext files. I know how to run a command that produces a list of all 3rd party kext files (using GREP) , can anyone advise me on the best way to move these files to a temp folder I've created. If anyone has any other ideas of how to rescue this Mac (without reformatting / starting again) I'm all ears NOTE : I don't have a time machine backup ... and I'm not that bothered. There's only a few files that I'm interested in and I know I can get them. I mainly want to have a play & see what I can do. I don't know that much about MAC's , so this has been a bit of fun.

Office 2016 - Templates lose BG colour
CapnPugwash replied to CapnPugwash's topic in Office Software
More info : I create a Word 2016 Template & go to Design / Page Colour and set the background colour (light blue for example). I set font / font size Save in the mandatory profile I login as a user, open Word / Shared Docs and select the template. Fonts settings are as set, BG colour is now white. If I go to Design / Page Colour to check what the BG colour should be ... it's set correctly (light blue)!!! -
Hi, I'm creating some templates to share with staff (made available through their mandatory profile in '\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates') Font/font size settings are fine but when a user opens the template the background colour that I set is not visible - template appears to have a white background instead. I'm sure this is something simple...

As an example; I know that I can add users in bulk from the interface by pasting a list of users like user1;user2;user3 etc BUT our usernames bare no resemblance to their actual names & the teacher wants all students to be listed with Class Notebook with their actual (forename surname) name. I can generate a csv with all of this info but is it possible to populate a Class Notebook with it using the API?
-
One of our teachers wants to start developing Class Notebooks for use across the school. I was hoping to do all the management (adding users from CSV etc) with Powershell but it looks like I have to use the API? Can anyone point me at some simple 'getting started' tutorials?

Hi, We've just started supporting a local primary. They run the free version of ESXi & two VMs. The want to replace the physical host & I think ... they may want me to sort everything out, keeping their costs down to a bare minimum (no extra licences , just a new server) I don't really know much about the free version of ESXi. I would imagine that I can run multiple Hosts with it on the same network but I wouldn't be able to migrate VM's from one to the other. Could I install the full version (60 day trial) on the new server, put the trial licence into the current host & migrate the machines over that way? If not... I'm open to suggestions!! I know there maybe nice ways of doing this if the school was prepared to spend an extra couple of bob ... but there's no spare bob in the kitty!

Think I'm sorted, just need to mail-enable the accounts without setting up an on-prem mail box Running this in Exchange should do the trick Enable-MailUser -Identity John -ExternalEmailAddress [email protected] As almost all of our users' mailboxes are now in the cloud, I guess I should really be thinking about killing the Exchange server / Hybrid config.
-
Hi, With O365 & on-prem Exchange 2010 in a Hybrid config we successfully migrated all staff mailboxes to O365. New staff obviously don't have a mailbox to migrate, a mailbox is created within O365. We have several MFDs with a 'Scan-To-Email' function. This works by sending an email from the users email address to themselves. The MFD's point to the on-prem Exchange 2010. This doesn't appear to work for new staff. They get no emails. It looks like the request gets pushed through to Exchange 2010 but nothing happens. Looking at the staff members attributes in AD I saw that that the new staff had no 'target address' attribute value. I have added the correct setting (comparing it to accounts that do work) When the new staff now try to use 'Scan-To-Email' , emails are pushed out of the local Exchange to O365... and the user receives an email notification ( a bounce-back, including the scan-to-me email) saying that the email couldn't be delivered because the user is unknown! Reported error: 550 5.1.10 RESOLVER.ADR.RecipientNotFound; Recipient not found by SMTP address lookup I'm sure this is something simple, can anyone advise?

Sorry for dragging this old thread back to life... To answer AlanD more fully, yes we are using PPSK on the Aerohive. It's not an issue now because no one (almost!) is using the wifi. This is OK for limited use but not ideal for BYOD. I'm a bit further down the track than I was, at least in understanding the concepts I've created a test BYOD policy in the Aerohive This contains a BYOD SSID I'm going to push that down to a single WAP for testing purposes Binding the Aerohive to a RADIUS server seems easy enough (**!!!**) Setting the Smoothwall up as a RADIUS server doesn't seem that hard either... But I'm a bit confused about setting up the NPS role on a windows server Can I set it up on a DC?

OneDrive for business : Connection issues
CapnPugwash replied to CapnPugwash's topic in Cloud Services
Hi, yes; we are installing the Office 2016 package & using the ODfB client -
Hi, We have O365 & use Office 2016. Some of our office staff have started using the OneDrive for business Office 2016 app. When it works, it's great... unfortunately it seems quite erratic. At the moment (when I'm lucky) I can make a connection by: 1) Getting the member of staff to open an Office 2016 Application such as Word 2) Getting them to sign in and then close the application 3) Open their online O365/OneDrive and click the 'sync' button This is more than a bit 'round the houses' but it works... most of the time! One day it works on a machine, the next day (on the same machine) it wont, I get either 'cannot connect to this sharepoint site' or 'this site uses an unsupported protocol' messages. On the same machine, staff can log into any of the other Office 2016 apps without issue. Anyone else having similar issues?
