Our canteen has the option of good stuff but it has the usual chips and burgers too. The trouble is, the kids don't want the good stuff and always go for the chips and burgers. When the chips and burgers are withdrawn they don't buy food from the canteen. The catering manager here hates that she has to serve crap but she's damned if she does and she's damned if she doesn't.

This was todays lunch. Stir Fry. I had to add the potatoes as an extra for obvious reasons. Please note: My hand is actually resting on the plate for scale. It's not brought forward to make my din dins looks small!

It looks considerably better than the wrap!

Love the tiny cubes of reformed chicken breast there :) also correct me if I'm wrong but that looks like it has zero flavour.

I'm another lucky one who has a decent cooked meal for free every day. Steak & kidney pie with parsley mash and braised veg today :)

Honestly, when I looked at that I thought the cubes were feta or halloumi

We're in austerity! We can't have salad in our wraps or noodles in our stir fry here.

Friday is normally OK as it's fish and chips day and I'm hoping I can compare.

I take it you don't have many pupils eating school dinners then? That so called "stir-fry" looks foul. :puke:

Yeah we get a fair few. The stir fry was alright, it was the potatoes that rescued this meal as they were quite herby.

That looks pretty poor. The food here is pretty good. Was shepherds pie, veg and potatoes, apple crumble and custard for lunch. Tea is DIY chicken fajitas, tempted to stay for that mmm!

Our dinners are pretty poor - I don't eat the hot food except on INSET days when it's all they provide, but other staff attest to its crapness. On INSET days we get a very oily lasagne with some rather dry potatoes. Some cake and custard if we're lucky!

Usually I have a wrap or baguette, the choices normally being (in order of increasing rarity): cheese, ham, cheese and ham, cheese salad, egg salad, BLT (seen once).

Food here is very good. I could have free lunches in different boarding houses every day of the week... but I'd have to sit with the boys and talk to them. I used to go to a couple a week, but it became a tie one term when I had lots to do over lunchtimes so I let it slip.

We can buy home made soup, and bought in sandwiches at cost in the staff common room. Really good quality (most of the time, sometimes a bit heavy handed with the salt) and enough to keep me going on the long days here.

Yeah, food here isn't too bad really, could be much much worse. I live on site and their dinners in the evening which are more catered for the boarders also can be decent.

The food here is unimpressive in my opinion - I don't eat it. Ingredients are far too cheap, flavours too weak etc...

My last school had amazing food though. Mmmm. That was outsourced but it was worth every penny.

School diners here aren't to bad they are big on international food so we get to try all sorts. Only problem is dinner ladies used to serving tiny primary kids seem to believe we all eat that sized portion!

Most of us are doing a sponsored weight loss challenge for charity atm so no school dinners and the staff room looks like a buffet for rabbits -.-
