  1. Owing to an internal promotion, we're looking to recruit an IT Technician. From the JD: "The IT Technician is a key member of the IT Systems department, which in total consists of this post, plus the Senior IT Technician and the Manager of IT Networks & Services. The IT Technician provides first-line support to staff and students, and assists other members of the team with maintenance and development projects. There may also be the opportunity to complete project work independently, as the postholder’s skills and experience develops." Direct JD link Advert and application form
  2. We're looking to recruit a Senior IT Technician on a full-time basis. From the JD: "The Senior IT Technician has two main strands of responsibility – providing second-line support to users (with some limited first-line support as required) and having primary responsibility for maintaining the school’s on-premises and cloud infrastructure." Feel free to PM for an informal chat. Direct link to JD Vacancies page with ad & application form
  3. Not used it, but heard much the same as you - namely that it doesn't appear production-ready at the moment. Sounds like the school are trying to defend their investment decision rather than solve the actual problem!
  4. Yep - it's fantastic for getting obsure parts. We have a school credit card which makes life much easier.
  5. We're looking to recruit an IT Technician on a 1-year fixed term contract. On-site accommodation (well, accommodation a couple of minutes walk from site) is available at subsidised rent. From the JD: "The IT Technician is a key member of the IT Systems department, which in total consists of this post, plus the Senior IT Technician and the Manager of IT Networks & Services. The IT Technician provides first-line support to staff and students, and assists other members of the team with maintenance and development projects. There may also be the opportunity to complete project work independently, as the postholder’s skills and experience develops." And of course, you'd get to work with me! Feel free to PM for an informal chat. Job Description Vacancies page with application form & instructions
  6. Ultimately whether it's on-premise or cloud, it's still IT. IT Manager is still appropriate, but you could tweak it to "IT Services Manager" or "Director of IT Services" if you wanted. "Information Systems" can work too.
  7. "Uncaring" stepfather who just wants to stop people getting a (potentially) deadly disease. Stick to your guns!
  8. As someone currently learning to drive (well, finished learning really!) but unable to take a test owing to COVID, I too would be very glad to be handed a licence. However, as many people have said, that would be a catastrophically stupid idea. Not that it matters, as there is more chance of Trump joining a monastery than there is of the DVSA doing this...
  9. I tried to watch it - seemed rather "TV eating itself" for my liking.
  10. But they still open in Dreamweaver when you click them? How odd...
  11. What happens if you right click an XML file and do "always open with X" - does it reset at login?
  12. Seems reasonable to me - assuming they cleared it with you first / it was your idea!
  13. Zoom is discouraged generally and banned for classroom use as we already have Teams, and all T&L should be done through it.
  14. If you're creating new accounts you could always log on as the new user before you send the device out, then reset the user's password after you're done.
  15. I've used Ruckus in the past and found it very good, but my last school had HPE Aruba APs which were excellent. Zero hassle, never had a problem with them. No need for a controller unless you have over a certain number of APs (I'm afraid I cannot remember what that is - 50 perhaps?).
