Yes you will need one for DEP enrolment, same as an iPad

In JAMF School, create a new profile for settings, in the MAC OS part there is Directory part, which is the payload to join it to the domain.

Glad to have helped with a bit of double-checking there. I have Yealink handets but they are cloud hosted, and I am afraid I do not have smoothwall, but it would surprise me if smoothwall didn't have settings for it somewhere

I use Unifi switches but I have a different switch make for the core doing the intervlan routing (HP Aruba) if you have a different switch that is doing your layer 3 routing, check there for it to also be set as the voice VLAN. I also made a config profile for Phone Ports, where the default is the wired VLAN and it has access to the voice VLAN, making sure the VLAN ID is set on the Phone for the phone itself (as then you can use the passthrough for PCs) and declared the Phone VLAN for the Voice Network there too.

only positive comments and thanks here please @DalekSec

Totally miss deploystudio so much, was a great tool in the arsenal for macs. ASM for Apps was really easy to do, even I could do it by myself. Also if you put a device in trash it removes it's license for the app so you can reuse it on a newer one.
-
Sorry missed this, We use Jamf School to manage our macs and they are fully shared, enrolled in AD, provisioned to Jamf through DEP, all apps are deployed through being purchased through apple school manager and then are sent by device not user at all. Work well with our music and media suites and our staff MacBook pros. The only annoying thing was if you rebuild a machine or get a new one and install Logic/GarageBand you do have to tell it to download the loops afterwards and we do mount the home share through it, not any shared folders though. For shared folders, check under Login Items, there seems to be a section to add Authenticated Network Mounts, which should do it, I think

No problems @KeyData get the tidy patches, which includes the reindexing patch and probably worth running Validate Memberships and Database Diagnostics, which sometimes helps. SIMS can be a fickle thing if one user is running something big.

Na SIMS workstation would not be causing that. You have either got someone running a big report or something causing timeouts or you need a good old stopping and starting of the SQL services on the SIMS server. I would ask someone with Server Access to the SIMS server to check how the resources are going. No need to worry at this point in time, these things can happen, especially if someone is making last minute changes to the academic year or something.

I have just tried several marksheets of varying sizes and each one I click Narrow and then Save without an issue. The worst one was a very large marksheet and I had to wait for the narrowing columns to happen for about 20 seconds but then it saved without an issue. They will probably have you run the reindexing patch first of all

As someone who regularly goes into London, they are best getting the Overground (Stratford to Richmond line) and getting off at Camden Road (literally around the corner from Camden Town tube station). You could then drive into Stratford and park at Westfields Shopping Centre there and be around the Olympic Park and their food court isn't bad too. You would need to cover ULEZ there but should be a bit nicer than going all the way to Camden itself. That way it gives them a little bit of independence doing that leg of the journey themselves but also gives you piece of mind.

I have recently done this, moved from Physical to Virtual while at it (as in about 3 months ago) I used the Storage Migration Service in Windows Admin Centre. Make sure that you have your current file server fully up to date. The cutover will rename the old file server to something else you specify and give it a new IP address and then rename the new one to the name of the old one and give it that IP address. I did it over about 3 evenings, went without any issues at all, and we still have some staff using Offline files on laptops (almost got rid of that now) and they kept on working.

How to shrink this file to under 4GB to fit on a USB with FAT32
BKGarry replied to leewakelam's topic in Windows
The mac should read FAT32 and exFAT from a USB stick without any issue IIRC. -

Errr, be careful there, as you are only really meant to keep the results for Public examinations for Year of Examination + 6 Years. I have the weird situation where we will be keeping our Finance System, so I am going to potentially get that moved to a new VM and shutdown the MIS server but keep it for now. But yes do be careful of what is the legal requirement for keeping certain aspects of data

[sims] PAGEONE SMS text provider costs? Intouch PAGE ONE
BKGarry replied to coolhands's topic in MIS Systems
I think if you stick using InTouch, you are stuck with PageOne. We moved from sending SMS messages from inTouch to using Edulink One, which then integrates with the government notify service, which is a lot cheaper. We also make use of the Push|SMS feature, so if the parents have the app installed, it does a push message and makes it even cheaper. -
How do you send your assessment reports (electronic) home?
BKGarry replied to spkay's topic in MIS Systems
We did previously uses SIMS intouch, but we moved to Edulink, as the process was much easier, and then the parents and students can also go back and collect old reports, already in PDF Format. As I do believe intouch liked to send as HTML and/or Word documents, so Edulink was a bit of a win. We are about to start the process of moving MIS, so come Term 4 (after February Half term) next year, we will probably have a really different way of doing it.- 13 replies

Hello All, So no doubt some of you have come across Outlook opening all links in Microsoft Edge, no matter what your default browser is. There is a setting to change this tucked away in File > Options > Advanced > Link handing then Open hyperlinks from outlook in: Default Browser/Edge dropdown. But what is hidden is that in the latest ADMX Files, available at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49030 - you can set it to default browser as well. Available under (once you have imported the latest admx Templates) User Configuration > Policies > Microsoft Office 2016 > Links > "Choose which browser opens web links" You can set this as using the System Default Browser. Posting this here to save people the headache of it later on
